Ack! Need kitty help. Peeing in wrong places
I have five cats.

They've all been living with me since Labor Day and we have gotten along fine.

Now, all of a sudden, one of them has taken to peeing on my bedroom floor! I don't think she's sick; she's eating and drinking normally. Normally she likes sleeping on the bed with me.

What could be the cause? She recently had a preemie litter of kittens. Unfortunately, they didn't survive. We tried mightily, but they were over a week too early. Her sister gave birth about a week later and those kittens are doing well, they will be four weeks old come Thursday. Do you think the two things are related?

I really don't know what to do.

2. some things to consider...
First of all, take her to the Vet to make sure that there are no underlying medical problems, such as a bladder infection. If she checks out medically, then its a behavioral problem, possibly due to her not being spayed. She might be marking her territory. Does she spray the wall, or just pee on the floor? If she sprays, then it's definitely a behavioral problem. Having her spayed may take care of the problem. Good luck and let us know what happens.

3. Also....
Be sure you clean the spots where she went really, really well. If you have a shop vac that can suck up water, and the bedroom floor is carpeted, soak the carpet with clear water and suck it all up as many times as you can stand to do. Then clean it with one of the enzyme cleaners made for that purpose, such as Nature's Miracle. If there's even a hint of urine left, she or one of the other cats may start using that spot as a permanent toilet.

4. Get the kitty to the vet, pronto
because whatever caused her to deliver so early might still be an issue with her health, especially if she hasn't tried to foster her sibling's kittens.

In the meantime, make sure you clean the area with an enzyme product that reduces the smell so she won't think that's a good place to go.
