I still have the two cats and cannot find a home for them. HELP.
Edited on Tue Jul-20-10 12:23 PM by OregonBlue
I called all of the local rescue people, they are all swamped with pets. I think many people are poor and moving and they just cannot take more. I advertised in the local paper and on craig's list but have gotten no calls. I don't know what to do next. I live in Central Oregon but am willing to deliver them anywhere in the state. I just cannot stand the idea of having to take them to the pound where I know they will be euthanized. Several of my cousins friends were contacting rescue organizations in Salem and so far they have not found anything either.

I think they would be okay separately. They are both pretty independent. Of course I would prefer to keep them together but I am willing to do whatever it takes. I only have until the end of the month so I am desperate!!!!!

I can pay a fee for someone to take them or for someone to board them.

1. Have you asked your Vet if they can take the cats...
My Vet takes in a small number of cats that she then places in homes of owners that use her practice. I found a home for the cat that renters next door to me abandoned last summer. I would check with your Vet to see if that's a possibility. Also, did you post in the Oregon/Washington/California forums? That would be more targeted to your area. Also, post on Petfinder.com. Please don't send them to your local shelter, as that is a possible death sentence for them. All shelters are over crowded and all surplus cats (mostly adults) are put down. I hope this helps. Let us know how it goes and I wish you luck in finding a good home for your cats.

2. Since I travel I no longer have pets and hence no vet but I can call the local vets.
I'll try anything and everything. I cannot bare the idea that they could end up at the shelter. Thanks.

3. Ask the moderators if you can post your plea to more forums.
A vet may put them down also.
Find a Holistic Vet maybe and ask for their help?

4. That's a good idea. More forums, more readers. I went to Petco today and they are working on
finding someone who can foster them. I'm afraid we don't have Holistic Vets in The Dalles, OR but the vet I used to take my cat to was wonderful and just loves animals so I'm calling him in the morning. Thanks for your help.

5. I am looking for one but I am in Los Angeles. I have one so it
would have to be the right one.
Keep trying, hopefully you will find someone somewhere.

8. Our local Petsmart adopts out animals...
They get them from Help For Homeless Pets*, not breeders.

Have you a Petsmart in your area?

9. I have someone interested --- hope you read this!!
I sent an email to your craigslist ad that you posted here.

I'm sending a PM to you, too.

Please acknowledge ASAP. This is a very fine person who would take loving care of the cats. She has two young teenagers who are kind and gentle. She said she was considering this, so I am putting you in touch with her directly.

10. I have found a home for the kittes!! Well actually, I didn't, the local cat rescue did. She used to
volunteer with them and was a cat foster person. Her old cat died recently and she wanted a new one. When they explained my situation, she agreed to take BOTH of them. I took them this afternoon. It was love at first sight for both of them. They hate the carrier but when I left they were happily sitting in it purring away while she scratched them under their chins. She is giving them their own bedroom with their own double bed while they "adjust" and will introduce them to her household very slowly. She has one young cat who right now rules the roost and a Chihuahua puppy. Her house is spotless. Her yard and gardens are lovely. I don't know how she does it all but I have great admiration for people like her.

So thank you all for worrying about the little critters. They probably think they have died and gone to heaven. I know I do. I will sleep well tonight.

11. That's wonderful!! Sounds like the two sisters will live the queenly
life! I love happy endings (or beginnings, in this case) and this one is just perfect. God bless you for helping these kitties find a new home.
