Seattle - Giant White Cat - very friendly needs home
Edited on Tue May-31-05 03:04 PM by superconnected
Hi, I'm actually in Everett, WA.(25 miles from Seattle)

My apartment complex has strays they round up regularly for the pound (not a no kill place) and one very friendly stray needs a home desperately. He is a male. Pure white and with gold eyes.

He is very big. He can't hide. He is so friendly he can't get away the next cat roundup the complex will do. He'll come to them.

I feed him and he lets me pet and pick him up and hold him for quite a while everyday. He would could be an indoor cat but one of my cats chases him out. He can be an outdoor cat too. Currently he lives outside in a very busy aparment complex - under cars and in bushes.

I have to find my cats homes and cant take him. I took in a pregnant stray at Christmas time. I'm over the limit on cats.

I've been calling him Snowball and he comes when I call.

please contact Kelly at Trillion_possibilities@yahoo.com, if you can give this cat a good home.

I have 5 cats and am hiding 3 of them from my landlord so I cant.

Hey the giant white cat I was calling snowball is being renamed -"DU" by his adoptive parent. He's at the vet now and will be neutered in the morning. :)

7. The person adopting him is naming him "DU"? That's gotta be BS.
Seriously? Okay, now you've gotta tell me: What is this person's username? I have to tease him or her about this.

8. Hi I don't know the persons user name
I'd have to get it and get permission to print it. I can't tell the real name because I don't have permission either.

I can say she is one AWESOME woman for taking him and I'm certian from my correspondence that she is very loving to animals. He will have a great home.

I found out at the vet that he was already neutered, and declawed. He had no microchip. He got his shots today and goes to his new home tonight.

I know it sounds like he's been someones and they took care of him- they had. But he's been a stray for the last 2 months, at least, and I've had a collar on him for several days without anyone stepping forward and asking why I collared their cat. If anyone does step forward we will get him back to them. I'd be worried about turning him over to them though seeing as they aren't feeding him, he sleep under bushes and cars and on my porch, and he has no claws.

my only guess is he was an indoor cat that got away a few months ago and never got found. I'm going through local papers.

Hey, even the vet told me he's a sweet heart. They told me to give him to the lady in Seattle. They know his story. He needs a good home.

9. Man, did he get lucky!
A formerly indoor cat with no claws. He would've been a goner for sure!

By the way, were you leaving him outside until the DUer comes to get him, or did you bring him in with your other five cats?

You know, not to rant, but I really hate the way people are so careless with their pets.

10. Hi, I tried to bring him indoors but my momma cat went after him.
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 10:57 PM by superconnected
It was impossible and he wanted right back out. She basically chased him out twice. Now I understand. He didn't have claws to defend himself.

I didn't get him to trust me enough until 2 weeks ago. The last two months I was literally leaving food in the bushes and under cars for him and hoping he would come back and eat it. He would run sometimes from me and other times he would approach me and let me pet him.

I had no idea he was ever an indoor cat before today when the vet told me he had been declawed. They left a messages last night on my phone that said he was already neutered so they couldn't neuter him again. Picking him up and finding out he was also declawed was a shocker. It told me he must have been an indoor cat.

I was worried he couldn't BE an indoor cat up till then.

He took to the woman who adopted him instantly. And instantly liked his new home. That was a huge sigh as I was losing sleep over wether or not he would convert to being indoors the last few nights.

anyway, he got a great home. The person has 2 disabled dogs, another cat she got from the pound and another cat that needed a home. It's really nice house, fenced back yard. She is very loving with animals. He wants it, I can tell. I had no idea he would take to it that quick. And it was indoors. He'll be great.

11. ah, I misunderstood your question.

I bought a large dog carrier, that dwarfed him. And called the vet and arranged him to stay there overnight to be neutered and then stay until I could drive him to the womans house the next day after the neuter and after she got off work.

So I didn't bring him in, knowing it would be really bad between him and my female Aurora, and I didn't leave him out because I didn't want to take any chances of him suddenly disappearing now that he had a home.

I would have brought him in though had the vet not been an option. Aurora could survive locked in my bedroom for a few days. That was my second plan.

The big problem with him was him being an outdoor cat and me fearing for him out there - especically with my apt. complex management. Believe me I did pick him up and bring him in my apartment two different times with plans to try to get him to live there. Didn't last long. he wanted out and Aurora wanted him out. He didn't take to my place for a second. And yes, I would have saved him from the pound the second they did it. I was keeping tabs on him incase it happend. It would have been a big emergency post on du the second I got him out, though.

Did the vet estimate his age? He still looked pretty young from the photo.

That's the great thing about being a housecat. Possiblities of perpetual bliss.

19. update to big white cat - now named DU
Edited on Mon Jun-27-05 03:37 AM by superconnected
Hi all,

I got to see DU Saturday morning as I needed to take him to get his follow up shots.

He was very clean and had gained 1.75 pounds (per the vet.)

He was upset about leaving his forever home to go with me and cried hard all the way to the vet - 20min drive, calmed when we got there, got his shot and 2nd de-worming, then cried softly on the way home. I told his new owner if anything happens to her, he's a candidate for depression. I've never seen a cat cry like that. I've had one of my cats for 18 years.

When we got back to his home he immediately left me and went in the kitchen. I don't think he's interested in me anymore since he has a new home. Remember he hung around me for food and saftey when he was homeless.

I'm positive he thought I was taking him back to the parking lot where he had lived undercars and bushes for months.

He loves his new home. His new parent is Awesome. She really loves him.

And I'm glad I got to see him. I new he would be great with his new parent. But I would shy from visiting him now because I know I represent a bad time in his life.

He looked SOOOO GOOOD!

This pic was taken 3 weeks ago - 3days before DU got Adopted. A friend of mine is holding him.

I didn't take a current pic as DU stayed in his carrier to and from the vet. I just like this pic so posted it.

Remember a person on this board adopted him! My momma cat wouldn't let him in my place with her kittens. She was another cat living in my parking lot that I adopted at Christmas time, it turned out she was pregnant.

20. No worries about crying in the car
He may not be traumatized, he may just hate the car. My Little yells the whole way to the vet, and the whole way home - mad as hell to be in the carrier.

Dogs, on the other hand, are smart enough to know there's no need to cry or carry on once they've LEFT the vets.

25. my cats all (except 1) knew not to cry on the way home too
1 of them never cried in the car--he was so good--but went berserk once at the vet's. The current ones are unhappy on the way there--one of them is very vocal and the other is just scared--but they "get it" on the way home and soon forget about their troubles once they get in the door.

21. You did great!
Give him a few months in the new house and then he may be friendly again when you go visit. Once he is really secure he may be able to see you as the nice person who took him to his new home.

I once babysat a little boy (not quite 2-years-old) so his parents could attend a graduation ceremony. It was the very first time his parents had left him with anyone. I had spent time with him (with his mom present) before the big day. He was fine when they left and we had a good time while they were gone - went to the park, played with all of his toys, read books. He was happy when his parents came home. I thought all had gone really well. When I returned to the house later that evening for the graduation dinner he took one look at me and burst into tears - avoided me all evening. I didn't see him for a few months, but when I did he was all over me - wanting me to read him books and play with toys. He apparently remembered we had fun, he was just overwhelmed that day.

:bounce:

22. Good, because I would like to see him again some time, and his new
parent is great about that.

See the first time I had him in my car - to the vet and then his new home, he never cried. He just meowed a few times because of the carrier. I couldn't believe how easy he was.

This time he has so much more to lose. I didn't expect the wailing.

His new parent just emailed me that she bought him catnip and a new toy right after the incident. She spoils him. I'm so lucky she took him in. DU-ers are the best.

I know he'll never be homeless agin.
