Anyone else a hamster fanatic?
I know it's not your normal pet, but I have two and they are my babies. If you don't have one, you should get one. They're definitely great pets!

2. I have never had a hamster, but think they're adorable
I have had a mouse and a rat, and they didn't live as long as my cats and dogs, obviously, which is difficult. I do know that John Kerry is particularly fond of hamsters and vice-versa, LOL! Welcome to DU, melnjones! We're so glad to have another hamster-lover among us!:hi:

3. I just lost mine ...
Well, I've had several over my lifetime, but Turtle, our little dark grey (with a little white) dwarf hamster died right before Thanksgiving. He'd gotten pretty old, even to the point of going grey around his eyes, but thankfully he didn't seem to get sick or anything.

We've got three cats, but I also love having a little animal around. Little Turtle was *sooooo* cute -- he looked like a teeny tiny bear, and he was pretty friendly right from the start. And, of course, always very curious.

8. I am so sorry. I know how hard this can be to lose such a small one
I had a mouse, who I adored, Franklin, such a personality, and it ripped my heart out when I lost him. And he did get sick, but he was just so small that they had little luck treating him. And he was also always very friendly and trusting, so I know. I am just so sorry. To lose a pet is just the worst, but to lose such a small one is tougher, since no one takes it as seriously, a big mistake. Your little Turtle sounds like such a lovable guy. My sympathies.

4. Roborovski Hamsters
These hamsters have become my favorite because they are still kinda rare. They are also very, very cute. We have 18 of them! One just had five babies! I lost two to mites and was very upset. They are very fun to watch!

5. check out www.hampsterster.com
It's a takeoff of dogster but it's pretty cute. Especially the hampster with the goggles.

7. I love 'em. I had one once, but I had to give him away . . .
he was driving me batshit. He'd spend his every waking hour trying to chew his way out of his cage :) I'd be there trying to sleep, and he'd be scratching away.

I gave him to a friend of mine, who put him in with 3 other hamsters, and he was fine. I guess he just didn't like living alone :)
