Temporary homes needed for pets in New Orleans

This just in from one of my pet rescue group lists.

Hurricane Katrina has left many people homeless. When they are able to return they will be looking for shelter for their families which my not allow them to take their animals.

There is an organization called E.A.R.S., http://www.uan.org/ears/ which helps
families keep their animals. They are begging for temporary homes in this area.

If you know of anyone in that area to take someone's treasured family pet until
they get settled again please contact Betsy Fleming at
elizabeth.fleming1@jsc.nasa.gov.

Please give her a brief description of what you can handle such as cat, dog,
ferret, caged rodents, etc..

Thank you in advance for helping ease some of the stress these families are
going through.

and coming back with as many pets as possible. If you live in one of the Southern states NOW is the time to volunteer as a foster or adopt a pet. The more fosters and adoptive "parents" neighboring rescues can find, the more animals they can take in from the hurricane damaged areas.
