Help! Can you quickly tell me the BEST pet charity for Katrina donation?
Hubby and I have scraped together $100.

I just want to know, because I respect my fellow DUers opinions, the best animal charity to give it to.

HSUS?
SPCA?
EARS?
Noah's Wish?
Best Friends?

Where can our money do the most good?

1. Here's one for you
http://www.uan.org/ears/index.html

I'd wait for a little while to get a few ideas, United Animal Nations' Emergency Animal Rescue Services (EARS) does good things.

4. Ditto. HSUS is on the ground
and you can donate specifically for the rescue effort. See www.hsus.org. I heard something about Noah's Wish not being "up" (on-line, I think) but I had donated to them early on. At this point, I'm giving to the folks who are there right now trying to get the job done. There'll be time for policy-making later.

5. One of the best small grassroots charities

among lots of small charities doing big jobs....

The vet is there now and the truckloads (6) of meds, supplies etc they have gotten together so far are also there now including a microchip reader. Dr. Shaw told the drivers whatever they did do not lose the chip reader. They are working on getting the next truckloads of supplies and trying to line up foster homes for all types of animals so they can bring them back and provide temporary homes allowing the owners time to get where they can take care of their furbabies. (Beyond cats and dogs including "pocket pets", ferrets, reptiles and birds.)

7. I donated to Ears.
It's nice to see a lot of places helping animals. Boy things have progressed in the last decade.
