SNIP..."And Dr. Dean, signaling again that he might not be a go-along, get-along party chairman if elected, noted disapprovingly that Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the minority leader, had said he would support making Justice Antonin Scalia chief justice if President Bush nominated him.

"I don't think that's where most Democrats are," Dr. Dean said. "I sympathized with him, because many times in the campaign I said a few things like that without thinking through the implications of what I was saying."

Good for you, Gov. You are saying you will stand up for what you believe, yet pick your battles.

1. That's a good one

I was just going to post the AP write up of today's regional caucus. After the ridiculously unflattering "...In what could be considered the political version of 'American Idol'", there's some good coverage. Dean picked up at least one quoted delegate:

Dean's speech was enough to convince Michael Steed, a delegate from Maryland.

"His conviction, his ability to take hold of the Republicans by the throat and defeat them really came forward," Steed said after the forum, held at the Roosevelt Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

I REALLY hope the delegates are paying some attention to the reactions of those who care enough to show up at these things. Especially this one:

Roemer, a member of the 9/11 Commission, is the most conservative candidate and an opponent of abortion. He acknowledged he was a longshot and that appeared evident when the crowd hissed him as he discussed his abortion views.

Roemer tried to position himself as the anti-Dean, saying, "We need a chairman that doesn't just represent the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party, but the East, the West, the North, the South."

Can he honestly not understand the fundamental qualities behind that "Democratic wing" quip? CLUELESS!!!

2. I think the others must be tired of the phrasing.

So many articles start "Dean and others"...auditioning. I think they are trying to make him the frontrunner again...LOL

As Dean said: "and I've heard that song before."

Fowler is bragging he is coming up with big endorsements, and he might. But since he called us oranges, I don't really care for him. that much.

Did you see the pic at the Times article? That pic is geared to divide Democrats. They are so clever.

His piece actually ends up making Dean look pretty good by just relating the facts but WHY does he continue to sit down SO hard on this STUPID misrepresentation?

Last year, of course, Dean's front-running candidacy collapsed in the Iowa caucus the former Vermont governor's subsequent outburst.

By "outburst" does he mean the merciless overplaying of a poorly mic-ed rally speech which was delivered in a manner APPROPRIATE to the venue? grrrr

And wouldn't a writer with any talent at all be able to get past a wrap-up like this one:

He rambled long past his time limit, but in the two-hour session, not a scream was heard from Dean. He barely even raised his voice.

5. I am never sure when Milbank is sincere or snide.

When I still watched MSNBC at times, he would be on. I always get the impression that I have to guess at his motives. I have seen some really good stuff by him, but quite often I am not sure.

This was not a bad article overall, but I gather from the accounts at the blog that Howard Dean was powerful but rather subdued.

There was no way he could ramble on past the time limit, for gods sake, there were too many of them. Besides Howard Dean most definitely does not ramble...he speak brusquely. That is really funny to say that.
