1. Edgar Casey prediction
Edited on Fri Aug-21-09 07:26 PM by get the red out
Didn't Edgar Casey predict that a lost hall of records was located in a chamber underneath the Sphinx?

2. Heh. We knew that.

Isn't the Hermetic library supposed to be under the Sphinx?

Yeah good luck getting past pitbull Zahi ("the pyramids are tombs") Hawass, "the enforcer", thought. :eyes:

On edit: OMG this is too funny--from the full MSNBC article, which is linked from the link at the DU link (er...)

Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, has dismissed the discovery.

"There are no new discoveries to be made at Giza. We know everything about the plateau," he stated.

 Have I got that guy pegged or what?!

3. LOL, Pitbull indeed
No one every gets any good information to go mainstream because of Zahi Hawass. When I read about the real age of the Sphinx when dated by weathering, I was blown away, it is so amazing. We don't even really know our past on this planet!

4. I consider him "special ops", Egypt style
I swear he only exists to be an obstructionist. As an avowed conspiracy theorist, I'm convinced that he's making sure that the general public doesn't find out the truth about the Egyptian sites. Or he could just be, you know, acting on orders of the Egyptian government to make sure no non-Egyptian scientists bogart any discoveries and subsequent glory--residual panties-in-a-bunch because of everything that happened hundreds of years ago when folks like the British charged in and took away all the statuary. I mean, they have a right to resent the way their antiquities were treated in the past, but that doesn't give them the right to prevent the rest of the world from finding out new information about the ancient Egyptians.

5. I think he is afraid
I think he is afraid, and the powers that be in Egypt are afraid that if the truth were known the pyramid complex (or at least the Sphinx) might predate their Egyptian ancestors. Then that would be a great loss of national pride. I read something to that effect somewhere, and as usual, can't recall where, but it made sense to me. Human pride being what it is across the globe.

11. Good point
That would be sad, though. They could still claim they were the ancestors of modern Egyptians--just, you know, farther back.

oh, I don't even know what it would be; it would be so big.
I'm not sure we're going to be that lucky. But we can dream...

10. Yeah, it was pretty interesting!
They talked for somewhere between a half hour and 45 minutes. The second part of the show was interesting, too. Ian talked with Jeff Sharlet, author of The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power ( http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-Heart-American/dp/0060560053/ctoc ) about the same C Street group Rachael Maddow has been talking about. I always enjoy listening to Ian's shows, even when it's creepy scary stuff like this (The Family, not the Egyptian stuff!).

BTW, if anyone's interested, last I knew, Art Bell is supposed to host a show near the end of the month (info from Art himself). I'm not sure exactly what date yet (most likely Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, though), or what the topic will be, but check the C2C site toward the end of the month if you're interested.
