Owning positive projections of self upon celebrities & other public figures and self-worth
We are all 'chosen ones', infinitely loved and cherished by the Creator/Goddess/God/{insert name of deity(ies) of your choice}.

No one soul is valued more than another.

We all have deep and profound 'missions' in each incarnation.

No such soul assignment is valued more than that of another by our guides/allies & Creatrix/Creator/etc.

Some missions are intended to effect many other beings by the incarnated one. Some missions are intended effect very few other beings by the incarnated one. Some incarnations are more reflected in the old story of how a kingdom was lost for the want of a nail - one small act of kindness or good example that triggers changes in another that can ripple outward.

All souls have worth whatever their missions are.

The deep outpouring of grief when Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcet died got me thinking about positive projection. While I enjoyed and admire some of the work by each I was not a fan with personal investment. I think having the person I was ever most fanatical about turn out to be a bush supporting republican rendered me unable to be a FAN fan ever again. I felt sympathy for their loved ones and the suffering each had endured. I cried a few tears for them and from the collective grief but nto from any sense of personal loss.

So I wondered how much of being a fan is admiring the person's works and how much is projection of one's positive qualities upon them? The parts that want to sing, dance, act or otherwise be creative but is not acted upon in some way even if only singing in the shower? We all can't be what they are even if we all had that level of skill and movie star looks but what of finding ways to satisfy the urge in our inner beings to express whatever it is in some way that fits in one's life? What if admire someone like Ted Kennedy (RIP) is a call from my soul to call and write and act for causes I believe in more often? I am not sure what I am trying to say..... All people are potential saints and potential sinners. We all have the potential to go in either direction. I have done a lot of shadow work fearing what leaving uncontrolled negative emotions buried in my mental basement fermenting and percolating to burst out at stressful times. Now I wonder how much of my personal power has been likewise wasted by shoving positive parts of me into the basement because they aren't good enough to let others see how lame they are. My singing is more William Hung than Beyonce, my dancing more Bill Cosby than Ginger Rodgers or Vera Ellen but maybe once in a while I should let my would be dancing singing self out even if only at home with only with my cats to frighten.

2. Ask Maddisen - How to Recognize and Claim Your Greatness
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/maddisen-k-krown/ask-maddisen---how-to-rec_b_222004.html

Step 1: Who inspires you?
Think of a person who inspires you, and write down his or her name. It can be someone you know, or someone you don't know personally but who you greatly admire. If there is one specific situation that pops into your mind when you interacted with or observed this person as a great inspiration, you can write about that as well.

Step 2: What qualities do you most admire in them?
List all of the qualities you admire in this person. Be specific and thorough, writing down everything that inspires you about this person.

Step 3: Identify and claim your positive projection
What is the mirror reflecting to you about yourself? Reading over all of the qualities you listed about the person in Step 2, now list all of their qualities that you see in your self.

These are your positive qualities, which you projected onto someone else! Reclaim them and breathe them in!

There may be times in doing this exercise when you identify a positive quality in the other person that inspires you but that you have yet to develop in yourself. That's wonderful. Just set the intention to invoke that quality in yourself in your own unique way and be patient as it blossoms within you.

3. Shallah Kali that was beautiful!
I believe you are onto something too! And what you wrote was lovely to read.

I KNOW without a shadow of doubt that my fan-hood, not for a person in this case but my old college's sports teams (basketball in particular), is an expression of my small part of a collective pride in my heritage as a citizen of a much maligned small, southern state that everyone traditionally loves to hate on and make fun of, a pride hard to express individually. I think that is what is missed in a lot of sports fans, pride in your city, state, or regional culture, and ultimately one's own expression of thinking well of who they are! I recall the old Saturday Night Live skit with the football fans saying "Da Bears". You didn't have to be from Chicago to love those characters for expressing their Chicago-ness. Our culture is such a part of ourselves. Sometimes cheering for our teams is cheering for ourselves and who we are, or hope we are.

My avatar is an example, LOL!

I can relate. I don't enjoy watching most sports but still root for the Red Sox & New England Patriots cuz i'm a Maine'ah. It's easy to get hooked into the local collective energy thoughtform.

Every notice sports fans when they say WE'RE number one? It is like you said a way of identifying with that team and it's accomplishments as if it is the fans own when they have as little to do with the actual accomplishment as Hadrian building Hadrian's wall while sitting in is toga back on Rome ;)

Identifying with a culture is not just about survival instincts blending in, making yourself acceptable so when famine hits the local group doesn't decide you are expendable or something like that. You said Sometimes cheering for our teams is cheering for ourselves and who we are, or hope we are. it is also about feeling bigger than we are, not feeling alone in the big wide world. These days the only sense of togetherness and human contact some get is via sports fandom. Everyone needs human contact including touch but in our culture that is mostly taboo for men :( In sports they can touch without breaking the taboo - slap one another on the back, bump chests and even kinda hug at times. And energy - I haven't been to a sports even like that but the vibes must be wild. Before I learned to shield just going to a movie theater made me manic laughing uncontrollably and shaking from the excitement in the building.

6. Thank you
We all carry light and darkness within. We all have responsibility.

You can take care of your own so-called shadow parts be recognizing them and then forgiving and releasing them.

Ho'oponopono prayer

I love you
Thank you for the opportunity to make things right
Please forgive me
I forgive you
