My 2012 article is published
and is online. Actually, it's two articles, as one sidebar, on the Mayan calendar, got so damned long it ended up being a separate article. PM me if you'd like the links. I'd really love any and all feedback! Even though I don't like to post links to articles with my real name here on DU, maybe we can talk about the articles on this thread, so everyone can read the comments...?

2. I'm still reading it; two pages to go...
It's good. I hope the retailers appreciate it, too ;)

I like the quotes from Tom Kenyon. I've never read any of his stuff and only heard a little of his music. For overtoning style, I always listened to either Jonathon Goldman or David Hykes (other than Tibetan monks...) I'll have to remember to look up that CD advertised earlier in the magazine, too.

Although in comparison to the full human population on the planet, the amount that died in the tsunami a few years ago doesn't seem like much, it's still the biggest natural disaster in my recollection and not so easily tossed aside in the grand scheme of things. I don't feel anything short of an asteroid or comet impact would ever create the fictional tsunamis of film and fear, so no worries about any ever getting big enough to top the Himalayas. I just can't easily put aside my trauma of 'seeing' that kind of thing happen, whether it's part of 2012 or not.

I liked the inclusion of Hurricane Ike, since these days when you mention devastating hurricanes to anyone, the only one that comes to mind anymore is Katrina. All others don't seem to make the grade. Not as many died in Ike as with Katrina, but the devastation was still impressive, and the experience of going through it traumatic. Maybe now that we have a government that actually cares about its constituents we won't see the same kind of human loss as in past years...

Good job on it :)
I am enjoying it, even if it seems like maybe I'm not ;)

9. Thanks, dude--I appreciate your thoughts on it
Yeah, I thought it would be very careless of me to only reference Katrina. After all, there have been plenty of natural disasters over the years--most of them (gasp!) elsewhere in the world. And it's very irresponsible of a journalist, on a professional level, to hang a point on only one event.

3. Pretty good
The format of the mag was a little confusing though.
It was only two pages, right? With other articles in between? If not there is a page missing.

4. No, it was quite a few pages
There's a sidebar breaking it up called "The Shift", and the main article continues past it.

8. Way to go!
Very readable and sane in a subject area that has a lot of non-logical thought associated with it.

Hmmm-- I look forward to getting some abilities of ascended masters

:silly:

I am not sure if my aging brain can keep up with the time speeding up thing. I am kind of in a slow pace mode. I probably need to do some brain exercises.

10. Thanks, C!

Well, look at it this way--you've already got some abilities of the ascended masters, and time is already speeding up. Like I said in the article, we're in the middle of the worst of it ("worst" as in "most intense", not necessarily "negative"), and we're still here--and only freaking out occasionally. :D

11. I love your articles, MG
Your writing style is wonderful. Easy to read, but covers very complexed subjects. I loved it, especially since you quote David Wilcock, Matthew, Gregg Braden and Barbara Hand Crow - all my favorites.

Funny, I keep hearing so many people mocking the Mayans, claiming they predict 12/21/12 to be the end of the world. I always correct these people and say that it's really the "end of an era." Of course, they prefer to have something to mock than to really understand it, so they never want to hear anything more from me on the subject.

I just finished Dan Brown's book, the Lost Symbol and he talks a little about this. He says the true meaning of apocalyptic is the "great unveiling" which better describes what we're about to encounter as we reach 2012. That's just amazing.

Anxious to read more. Thank you so much, MG, for sharing.

12. Thank you, PL--you're too kind
It is quite frustrating going against the current of apocalyptic fearmongering. I've gotten into a few (ahem) "debates" here on DU, and it seems like people don't WANT to hear anything besides "We're all gonna die"--whether to believe it or to mock it.

I'm in the middle of The Lost Symbol--haven't gotten to the part about 2012 yet; I'll keep an eye out for it--thanks! :hi:

13. I'm sure you'll love it
It was so exciting to see someone with Dan Brown's caliber bringing this enlightenment to so many in such a clever way. I really felt he opened the door for many of us.

I ventured onto your website. Looks very intriguing. I plan to go visit there more often.

haven't been able to download the sidebar yet (I'm on dialup so it's excrutiatingly slow) but hopefully today while I'm doing some chores it will make it down so I can read that one too!

Anyway, very good read, well thought out and balanced.

21. It just dawned on me that I think having read this....

is linked with my dream in some way.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x104761

I've really been looking forward to reading your article about this, as the whole subject is playing in with an ongoing writing project of mine (fiction). I'm super focused on these next few years involving a shift toward a more heart-centered, intuitive approach to life...a Divine Feminine approach. I thoroughly enjoyed your articles. :)

I looked up dream symbolism for both aurora borealis and geese (and, interestly, it ties with the whole "golden egg" thing since the geese in my dream were golden and glowing...lol). They both very much tie in with this subject that is very much on my mind: a shift toward the Divine Feminine being more of an influence.

28. Nice work, MG!
It treads the fine line between the spiritual and psychological implications of the date.

I tend a little more towards the psychological interpretation. The memes of Peak Oil, Climate Change, species extinctions, ecological damage and social unrest are all entering general awareness and as a result are shifting the tome of the noosphere. The effects are all accelerating and seem to be converging on a point in the very near future where their interactions will begin to amplify each other even more. We are looking at a transition from a linear pace of worsening to an exponential pace.

These ideas are entering the collective consciousness, so even if people try to deny the changes they are being subliminally shifted towards this awareness. The "2012 meme" fits into this perfectly, since it's in the right time frame and speaks to a great turning into a new, utterly unpredictable state. It has enormous psychic power as a result. Even if one discounts the spiritual overlay of the 2012 idea, it was inevitable that it would become an archetypal vision in this time of upheaval.

One other thing that is happening is that more and more people who recognize the inevitability of a collapse of modern civilization are responding with a turn to the spiritual. If hope cannot be found in the physical or psychological materialism, it is always available in the spiritual dimension. We simply re-frame the problem so that a "solution" can be found. I've taken this path, as I suspect have many others on this forum. With its inherent spiritual component, the vision of a 2012 shift is an ideal component of this response.

Again, that was very good work. I really enjoyed the articles.

Bodhi
