I rescued a Chickadee this morning...

So, part of our morning ritual is to let the Big Kitty out to go potty. She is the one who is the huntress, fighter, Queenie of the 'hood, as it were.

For the winter, we have our front porch enclosed and on a couple rare occasions, i have had to help the hapless bird who gets 'stuck' in the area.Well, this morning it was froisty cold, so I lingered letting the cat out for her usual romp, but soon she was begging, she must have heard what I didn't...

She takes thre careful steps and snaches up the bird before I can register her movements as "hunting" and not "going potty" or "scared of a dog". Then, she darts back inside with this bird in her maw to finish the job and probably play with it in the bedroom first. So I take off after her down the hall way saying slly human things to a hunting kitty like "bad girl!" and "drop it!"

Luckily, I know her routine and she went stright to my teen's room and dropped it next to his bed and ran into the closet. poor baby was so in shock, it was very still...

I grabbed a pillowcase out of the linen closet and scooped it up before the bitch cat could change her mond and ran outside....

When I opened the cloth, there she sat, pretty as you please in the plam of my hand.
I ran my finger from her crown to her tail and asked "are you okay?"

with a chirrrp she flew straight to the top of the aspen tree in the yard.
she sat there for abou 15 minutes and I sat at my desk, watching her and making shre I could see her feathers were not matted, she was moving her head, etc. and then once the rest of her flock came by, she was gone

...pretty little black eyes, so TINY...

I am still moved.

and then when looking up the spiritual properties, i had no idea that this little birdy had so much POWER
what a lesson for me :) ....That even in my struggling, i have some of that gift too...

including a pet parakeet, I noticed that they go into shock for a while, ergo the fifteen minutes she was up in your tree. I hope she's okay and it's a good sign that she could still fly. Being with her flock will make her feel better.

what's also interesting is that the kitty had killed a bird last summer/fall and all I found were the feathers all over my room...it didn't dawn on me till this morning they are Chickadee feathers...

now I know what feathers are going on my new Prayer Stick ;)
