My Grandmother had carotid artery surgery yesterday & has some complications
half of her mouth is numb so she has only been able to eat some melted icecream so far. she is very wound up and wants to go home *now* and so far no family or doctor can calm her down. Everything else seems OK so far but for this. 4 different doctors told her they have never seen anything like this so it might be temporary and it might be permanent. my Mother has talked to coworkers who have parents who under went this surgery at a different hospital who had this numbness that lasted 5 days for one, longer for another but it did go away..

1. Shallah, I'm asking the Universe to send healing, calming energies to
your grandmother, and requesting that she be given what she needs to recover. I hope the numbness is only temporary. My aunt had this same surgery at 91 and, even though it took a couple of months, she was much better and seemed to enjoy life more than she had before.

2. I'm asking the Universe to help her to ground and to balance.
I'm also asking that she be surrounded by light to help her to heal quickly and easily. (This or something better for the highest good of all involved.)

I hope that she's up and around better than ever very soon, Shallah!

3. Feisty can be a good sign
There's nothing scarier than having a loved one languish in the half-twilight for ages after surgery (my dad did that). However, your grandmother might need a mild sedative if she's so anxious to go home (and refuses to understand that she needs to rest and recover at the hospital for a while), so if the doctors propose that, be sure to approve it.

In the meantime, sending soothing and healing light for your grandmother. Sounds like she'll be fine in the long run. ;) And light to you, too, Shallah.

6. The hospital released my Grandmother and she is much happier at home
she does not want to admit she needs to take it easy and was miffed when I pointed out that even picking up her cat is too much for her right now. He is 12 lb. and she isn't supposed to lift anything over 10 for the next two weeks. Her ability to articulate words improved noticeably throughout the day. She was able to eat some clam chowder my Mother got her after it was pureed in a mini food processor and later some yogurt. My Mother is staying with her tonight to make sure she is ok especially as she was unsteady yesterday. We both gave her reiki as well as hugs. I just hope she doesn't try to over do when one of us is not with her. She is incredibly stubborn and frustrated at the thought of the doctor's orders to not do bend or lift leaving out her usual hobby of gardening as well regular chores.

We are so grateful for everyone's wonderful energy sent to my Grandmother!!! It was such a comfort knowing we had all of ya'll on her side esp. as I have been feeling pretty depleted with personal and collective stuff hitting the fan lately.

Thank you again! :grouphug:

8. I am so sorry to not update sooner - computer troubles!!!
I made the mistake of saying "I wish I could get a new computer but I can't justify it right now as my computer works ok right now" - while wearing my manifestation bracelet :P I will be researching and bargain hunting for a new computer tonight now that I can get on the internet again in case this fix does not last. Especially as I am not xure what finally fixed the blessed thing... Please don't worry if I am off here for a bit as it is most likely the computer on the fritz again...

My grandmother has a bit more movement with her tongue and can swallow her medications easier but still has to eat everything pureed. I have been getting her yogurt and organic babyfood but one time she loves one and the next time I get her a jar she hated it. She has always been changable like this which i vlame on her being a Gemini :P
