Update on my sweetheart, and on my hand

Peri is recovering slowly but surely. She's even begun to chase visitors again, at least in the morning (she runs out of steam by the afternoon).

Given that the bills are again going to be in the $1000 zone for this bird, and that I live on a tiny social security check, I'm going to have to come up with creative ways to pay them. One of these ways ("inspired" by ASAH, as will be obvious ;) ) is here:

As to my hand: the folks at the hand clinic believe I tore a saggital band (a thing that holds the tendon in place). They put my hand in an immobilizing splint, 24/7, for the next four weeks. If at the end of 4 weeks tthe band has scarred over, good. Otherwise, it's off to the hand surgeon for me.

(Saggital band?? Where is my nemesis Jupiter, and what is it trying to do to me? It seems that very time Jupiter does anything to anything
in my chart, I go broke).

You know, I can create a section at Wishadoo's Wishlist as a "fundraising marketplace" as the first move in that direction (I contacted Artfire about a potential relationship next year when they roll out their new platform, thanks to you working with them ;) ).

Seriously, if there's any way you can get a video of Peri, I think you could be a fairly wealthy woman with the money it could raise by becoming viral on YouTube, selling related merchandise.

If you want to help, please do. Be aware that (in the absence of speech to text software, which I am looking for) my typing is currently some combination of painful (tip of right index finger, moved across the keyboard in big tiresome shoulder and elbow motions or awkward (left handed hunt and peck -- I am normally a hunt and peck typist, but with a well practiced right hand). Any plans that expect I'll do lots and lots of typing are, well, optimistic.

I think I have already typed myself out for the moment. More, I suppose, later.

Okay, so I know I'm annoying. I'm like a dog with a bone with these types of projects, when something REALLY appeals to me! :bounce:

First, I don't do cameras AT ALL, let alone videotape things. I may learn to with my phone but that will be about it. (Long story, stems from 9th grade but I've had an aversion -- a loathing -- of cameras since then. :rofl:)

ANYWAY, if there is a way you can tape Peri when she is saying her mantra and stomping her feet, I really feel you could have a sensation there. If you're also not a camera/video person, maybe one of the people who comes to visit is?

In lieu of that, I'm thinking -- if you're open to it (and I could set it up if you'd like via my "Giving Heart" persona at Facebook and other places; which reminds me, I need to "friend" you guys from that persona, too) -- that starting a Facebook page about Peri and the funds needed to be raised for her is THE type of thing Facebookers will respond to.

Human needs are too intense and depressing or something (I can't put my fingers on the "why" of it all); but responding to animals is something people at Facebook respond to en masse.

And, yes, I would like an "R" rated version. Granted, $20 is steep for a mug, but this isn't just a mug...it's a collectible AND a fundraising item for a great cause, direct to source without any administrative fees.

Something to understand is that I'm on SSI. That means I can't get more than $60 a month through Zazzle (which reports to the IRS) or it will very adversely affect my benefits (not to mention convincing Social Security that somehow I can make a living raising money to pay for vet bills).

The rules, as absurd as they are, state that people can pay my bills for me (including the credit card bill I stuck the vet charges on) for any reason, but the moment I touch actual cash in the course of paying the same bill, even for good cause, I'm committing a heinous act ('cause you know all us poor people, the minute we touch cash, run out and buy a bottle of Mad Dog 20/20 and go look for a gutter to lie in, dontcha know? :sarcasm: ).

So making too big a thing of this would not be helpful. It would be devastating.

Sorry to hear about the financial issues. I do love the mug--hoping to scrape up some funds for one in the near future. In the meantime, sending good juju for some manna from heaven for you! :hug:

and am asking the Universe to send healing energies and comfort. May the splint do its job so you can avoid surgery.

Oh, and on a lighter note, my best friend is named Peri, and of course I'll be buying a mug for her. Her mother was extremely profane and hearing the story of Peri the parrot will tickle her to death.
