Fighting the gorge in my throat ...
Everytime I see the graphic on the news that says "Republican Control" it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Looks like life just got tougher for a whole bunch more of us, and the gloating they will engage in makes it even worse...

My fight is gone, the logic escapes me...

"where are we going and why am I in this handbasket...?"

2. Be at peace!
Shuttling the Tea Baggers into the House will not be an asset for Republicans. As I teach my acting students, anger is an emotion that burns out very quickly, it's not sustainable. Relive will have a very short period in which to put up or shut up. At worst, we have two years of gridlock in Washington before Obama's second term!

3. Instant runoff voting
Is what we need.

Until we have that, we will shuttle back and forth, back and forth.

4. You know, honestly, I feel the exact opposite
On the surface it galls me, sure, but when I went deeper, what I got was "doesn't matter".

It will be all right. Truly.

5. The Tea Party hurt the R's at the polls last night
I think the few Tea Partiers who did get elected will hurt the GOP in governing. They will be so nutty, so crazy that the GOP will be split. I predict a couple of defections, along the lines of Arlen Specter.

6. We will have a stalemate more often, but no deterioration.
I honestly can't get horribly worked up at the election outcome. I am bummed at the thought that our nation is so unhappy right now, but you have to think about it this way, the Dems still control the Senate and the Whitehouse.

We were not able to keep our own party members in line when we had clear majorities, so at this point it is now a given thing that we are facing a national stalemate. We are not in the same place we were when the Congress just blindly nodded and gave Dubya anything he asked for--you will not see that same open handed spending again. What you WILL see, however is a very clear and (probably) protracted debate surrounding every expenditure that goes in front of the Congress.

The party that handles the PR most effectively for the next two years is gonna be the one to gain the next advantage.

8. I feel exactly like you do
I made sure to wear all black today to work. I feel like going out and buying more black clothes for winter.

9. I've been fighting nausea on and off all week (for real.)
I'm starting to think it was a precognitive reaction to this outcome (as I have ruled out physical causes.)
