Day 5 and I'm feeling alive!
The first few days were nightmarish. I'm sleeping soundly all night and vegies have a taste. I even made a pot of brown rice was not just edible, but good. I'm through the worst of it and now on with my life. Thanks for all your support!

1. Hey White Tara, what are you doing, a cleanse?
I must have missed the earlier thread. I always feel amazing when I do a juice fast. I'm tempted to start one, just from reading your post! I really do feel "alive" when I do something like that. That's a perfect word for it.

2. I'm detoxing from all my favorite foods
you know, coffee, sugar, dairy, fat, white flour and rice, alcohol, you name it, I'm detoxing. We are working with the Ultra Metabolism DIet by Dr. Mark Hyman (he should have changed his name) and it is working. The regime is intense but effective. Check it out at the library or Amazon. No fasting. To ease the system in the transition, it's Ultra Broth and Ultra Shakes and steamed or sauteed vegies and brown rice with chicken breast or salmon or herrings (not pickled) Lots of lemon juice, olive oil. The first 3 days were so bad, that I wrote about it here and I was updating all those who were so supportive when I was really whining. There is really no turning back to the old diet and I'm really working on this.

4. I did a 4-day fast many years ago--just spring water and Vit. C
crystals. It was amazing what food tasted like after it was over--like tasting food for the 1st time.

5. Wow, I'm so sorry that I missed the original post, WhiteTara...
but kudos for a job well done!

:applause:

Keep up the good work. I'm already a vegetarian, and I hate the thought of removing even more things from my diet. However, I probably need to rethink my eating habits as well.

6. well, I was an Opportunistic Eater
when I'm hungry I eat. Preplanning is harder so I made a meal plan for the week. Today, my sinus' are draining and draining. My beloved has lost about 10 pounds. I think we'll stay on the detox part for another week or so because it is really helping him drop the weight. His headache (which has lasted for a week) seems to be gone this morning! Yeah!!!

Thanks for the support my dear. :hugs:

7. right there with you.....
I started a 28 day elimination diet plan that I found in "The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook" on January 3rd...Similar to your experience, the first week was H E double toothpicks...withdrawal is such a bi***.

but now, feeling so much better than I did before. Down 15 pounds, mostly water retention weight I'm sure, but I'll take it.

Now am at the part of adding back in foods to check for reactions....will be interesting.

Best of luck to both of us!

8. absolutely best of luck
:toast:
Ultra Metabolism says that that water weight is great to lose because of all the toxins in it. I have a feeling you are doing same sort of diet as we are. My partner has lost quite a lot of weight. Of course the scales died when we began this so I have no idea about how much we've lost, but my clothes feel different.

take those steps back in very small...maybe wait 3 or 4 days before making any decision about how it affects you (according to my book) before you try it again.
Off to fix some food.
:hi:
