Has anyone heard from Janus Ascending? For those of you

My mother is in the hospital - she went in a few days before Christmas, was discharged a day or two before Christmas and was then admitted to a different hospital the day of New Years Eve. Her condition has gotten just a bit worse - severe weakness in her extremities, nausea, difficulty eating and swallowing. They've run some tests but we don't have any results yet. She may be released to a local nursing home today for rehab.

I let her know that you and others were concerned and that brightened her spirits. Overall, she's doing well at the moment. It's just very frustrating not knowing the cause of the ailments.

I'm not certain if she'll have internet access at the nursing home so please, feel free to check in with me if you don't hear from me - things are a bit hectic at the moment :-)

My mother is in a nursing home nearby for rehab and that seems to be going well. We're still waiting for some test results but she has been diagnosed with lyme disease which explains a lot. She's taking antibiotics now so hopefully we'll see some of the symptoms alleviated soon.

She was sent to one hospital with pneumonia, then she was intubated, then she was sent to another hospital because it was suspected that she has a rare autoimmune issue that first hospital wasn't equipped to handle. So. She does, indeed have an autoimmune disorder - they're diagnosed Myasthenia Gravis. However, my sister and I are absolutely convinced that it's Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome. At the moment, it really doesn't matter either way as the treatment for both is the same. She's receiving a high dose of steroids for about a week and she'll receive plasmaphonesis to rid her system of the antibodies. She's been undergoing "breath tests" to wean her from the vent - she was off for about 30 minutes yesterday - and when I spoke to the nurse today, she said she may be able to come off permanently today or tomorrow. Also, she had an MRI of the brain and of the lower lumbar area - no evidence of any metastatic tumors. We're happy to hear all of this - the autoimmune diagnosis will give her some relief to all of the problems she's been having (I think the lyme test was a false positive) and will hopefully make her strong enough to begin receiving treatment for the cancer. Whew.

she's out of the hospital and in a different nursing home for rehab. she had her first round of chemo and did great. she's able to pull herself up in bed and she's getting stronger every day. and her attitude is great - very positive. she asked that i let you (and everyone else know) that she's felt your prayers and positive thoughts and to keep them coming :-) she may have what looks like some sort of web tv in her room and the last time i was there, i'd asked the nurse to look into hooking it up for her. so, you might see her online sometime soon!
