Anyone else having trouble sleeping?
For the last few nights I've been having trouble sleeping. I usually go to bed whenever I'm tired unless it's a night before school than I go to bed a little earlier. I don't know why I have been having trouble sleeping so I was wondering if anyone else here has been having trouble. :\

my concentration rots. It seems that I have no ability right now to concentrate. Almost like I'm in a funk, but I think it's more than that. Things just don't feel right at work, at home, etc. Something feels out of sync and I can't put my finger on it. Almost like I'm zigging and everyone else and their brother are zagging.

Didn't used to be that way, and if I really am interested or enthusiastic about something (like DU :) ) then my focus is back full force. At 40, my doc thinks it too early to be premenopausal hormones.

I think it's all the hubbub that's going on - almost like white noise (lies, chatter, etc) everywhere - and you have to sift out what is most important or true. Sometimes ya just get tired of all that.

Yup - we got the lies and chatter around work too, so I can't seem to get away from it.

4. I feel exactly the same way
I just feel out of whack. Grounding helps a little, for a while, but I just feel out of balance in general. It's making it hard for me to focus on things. For instance I've gotten very, very little done on my project for National Novel Writing Month and the way it looks, I'm not even going to come halfway close to finishing in time.

7. I'm so grateful that we're having this discussion....concentration
has just flown the coup, and I can't seem to focus on anything .... except DU or a good Miami: CSI show.

In fact, it's getting so bad that I'm afraid I'm going to lose my job over it.

I'm on hormones for menopause, and I take thyroid medication (that was increased in dosage a month ago), and I've tried vitamins, herbs, and have used all of the tools I've got in my Spiritual Path tool box. Nothing seems to work for more than about 10 minutes.

I've been thinking for the past few days that I wonder if I have attention deficit disorder, or something.

I have NO ambition, and I'm on the verge of a (job) financial breakthrough that would clear the way for a VERY secure future (so I could REALLY use a little ambition right now!). If I could just work hard at what I'm doing for about a year, I'd be home free. And yet, I can't get any work done!! My co-workers and those up the ladder are noticing this.

The reason that I've wondered about ADD is because I can stay interested in DU or Miami: CSI -- both of which offer all kinds of twists and turns and changes (nothing that stays on topic for any length of time). But I've never really studied the symptoms for ADD much, and what I've written above is all that I know about it.

It just seems like I'm "on hold" for some reason, and I, too, feel like I'm trying to wade through a tar pit.

10. I sure understand what you are going through, Loudsue
I actually did lose my job last year, I'm sure partially because of menopause symptoms and lack of energy. I was having upwards of 30 hot flashes a day and all night long too. No sleep at all between kicking the covers off, panting like a dog for 10 minutes then suddenly freezing and pulling the covers back on every half hour. It was brutal. I was totally exhausted, couldn't concentrate and was nodding off in front of my computer at work. I found a doctor who knew how to prescribe bio-identical hormones because I couldn't bring myself to take the mares pee. I'm now taking something called Estrogel which is made from plants and I rub on my arms twice a day (if needed that much, I can adjust it myself) and progesterone 10 days of the month. The hot flashes have blessedly almost disappeared, except for the occasional one in the morning. I'm sleeping better... unless my husband is having a bad night, and have even dropped a few pounds.

One thing I've noticed is that I just don't need as much sleep as I used to. When I was younger I could sleep 12 hours with no difficulty, now I'm having a very long sleep if I do 7.

8. Yeah, trouble sleeping
here, too! Not sure why, but think it is plain old worry. Also I have 1 cat who keeps me up at night. But yeah, in spite of my avoiding news of any kind, and even avoiding du if it gets stressful, I tend to worry about governmental happenings. I just feel really bombarded with scarey input, and though I try to keep a positive outlook overall, I think it is a natural reaction. Are you thinking that there might be something about to happen that keeps you jittery, or takes your sleep away?

9. Yup. Almost always now
every third or fourth night I get enough sleep because my body finally insists. I'm getting 4.5 to 5 hours, I need much more. My concentration is suffering, I tried melatonin last night for the first time, should I keep with it for awhile, does it take a bit to do any good?

11. Are you still having this problem?
I've been having problems within the last week or two. I tend to wake up earlier than I have to. Sometimes I fall back asleep after a while. Other times, I just get up, figuring maybe I can use the extra hour or two to get something accomplished.
