I'm concerned
about the vacancy of mystics here on DU. Several have mentioned that many of the standard players have gone onto other fields. We all have to focus on our destinies. It just strikes me as sad that some have found DU to not be suitable to their interest.

I love the menu of opportunities we have here. I don't always agree with every mod/admin decision.
No. But, how can we call ourselves mystics if we allow a little diversion to distract us from our missions to uphold and cherish the higher path? How does bailing out help anyone?

I'm such an idealist. It's my downfall.

1.  I miss quite a few of them here too, votesomemore....
and realize that some have moved to another site.

Maybe they will come back in the near future....who knows?
And others will join too.

It's OK if people move on IMO, there will be newcomers adding their gifts here too.

I am certain that not one person here - including the Moderators - supports ALL of the rules and decisions taken on such a busy board. But when the dissatisfaction and annoyance is greater than the pleasure and community offered here, people leave.

You can count me in as one of the steadfast supporters of DU and all of its diversity.
No place will ever be perfect for any of us, and I don't mind the differences of views presented here - even the ones which drive me crazy....:D

The people who have left DU are not distracted from their mission of the higher path - they are just spreading it around in other locations!

:bounce:

4. As a mystic
I understand that some will stay, some will go .. cie la vie .. All up to the goddesses.
I just think DU is such a great venue. I'm sorry some don't feel comfy here.
It is my lifeline.
I've tried other boards. In my mind, they just cannot compete with DU.
DU is very comprehensive. I'm in the military family support list, etc.
Fantastic people. All.

I appreciate your higher path comment. I know. We go where we need to.

7. I love this forum!
I visit here all the time to see what everyone is talking about. I'm not knowledgeable or advanced enough to participate in the technical aspects so I read much more than I write, but the spiritual awareness I found here is what is desperately needed throughout the entire country to properly battle the dark evils that run our country and world. I feel bad that my silence comes across as non-participation. I admire all of you and get so much more from this forum than you'd ever imagine. In fact, because of you all, I'm currently organizing a women's spiritual group for progressives. I'm amazed at how many people are popping up with enthusiasm wanting to be part of it. There's a hunger and thirst for this, in fact, feeling it as a need for survival.

11. Well when you contribue financially to DU (donate)
They put a star by your name. If you don't donate you can't post or read the DU groups stuff. When the star expires (I think it's a year, but not sure) you have to donate again or it goes away. Is that what you were asking?

I realized that I got a star when I donated, but I didn't realize it gets taken away when you don't. I just pay every year and I don't think the issue ever came up.

24. I think you mischaracterize the absences.
"Mystics," or anyone attuned to energies and following a higher path, go where that path takes them. If they are gone, or just spending less time at DU, it's because their path has taken them somewhere else, not that they've "bailed." DU is not the only place to uphold and cherish the higher path, and has, at best, offered limited tolerance for mystics. That's why this group is here; people needed a group whose mission statement prevented hijacking, attack, and derision to be able to have any kind of a serious discussion.

Even then, the group was not without inner conflict; those who wanted to break off Astrology so that they could have their own discussions without the embarrassing, or distracting, (or other problem with the) presence of "mystics." Happily, that issue was peacefully resolved, and the group went on.

What would you like to discuss that you're not seeing? Start a thread, and people with like interests will show up!

26. I follow astrology and mysticism - and sometimes mystics are more stunning
in their predictions. I used to go to an Mundane Astrology site. Last December a new poster to the site posted that a friend of hers sent an e-mail that something terrible was about to happen. She said her friend had sent these e-mails before and she has never been wrong. Less than 12 hours later, the tsunami hit. It was sooo weird and spooky. Yet not one person on the the site acknowledged her post. I even posted about how accurate the post was and got replies like "we're all psychic at this site", even though I'd never seen anything that spooky and accurate.

I stopped going to that site. The people were so nasty. The astrology was often incorrect in major details, and when people would mention the errors they would get hit with flames from hell! Anyway - I'm starting to think astrology is very powerful, but there really aren't that many good astrologers.

27. I can't comment on astrology;
I'm not an astrologer. I've had my chart done, which is reasonably accurate, but I don't pretend to understand all of the other influences outside the sun and moon sign, and how they all interact; it's complex, and not the area I've been led to study. I'll read some astrological posts, but almost never respond.

I am what I would call "intuitive," just "knowing" things without knowing why. I've noticed that I've spent a lifetime uncomfortable with and in structured systems that needed a set of rules to "work." Not that those rules don't work; just that I tend to internalize the universal "rules" that I've observed and experienced, outside of any system. Like there is a greater system: I don't see or understand the whole thing, but I get bits and pieces.

It works the same for me with Tarot. I studied for a year, and just a couple of months in my teacher took the Ryder Waite deck I was struggling with out of my hands, handed me another deck with no relationship to the 4 suits, and told me to listen to what the cards said to me, instead of applying outside "rules" to the cards. I blossomed, and now have too many decks, none of them RW, and do just fine.

I've noticed that, no matter how I "listen," with cards or meditation or any other method of focus, I don't get the specific answers that people always want. I get the general "big idea" without the specifics. That's why I rarely share what I get, or read for others these days.

for me it's just a "knowing" that can't be pointed to as "see, there it is"

cards, coins, stones, runes they're all the same. If I follow the "rules" I'm liable to miss the message

hope you, the kid and the "girls" are all thriving in your new home

39. We're doing well.
Lots of mundane challenges; this old fixer needs a lot of time, attention, and money.

We're all thriving, and our winter has been frosty; it looks like it's warming up just in time to rain away all the snow, and freeze all that slush and mud into sheets of ice, just in time for the holiday. I've been hauling water from the house to the chickens, and from the sink in the barn to the girls; all the outdoor pipes have been frozen since Thanksgiving.

Today I'm cleaning, tomorrow bringing in the tree, and the place is full of warmth and love in the midst of all the icy splendour outside.

Same back to you.

45. Same here
My guides send me messages through my feelings and I just "know" through my "gut/intuition." Those messages end up being right. Like one term in college I had this english/writing class and the teacher was older than most I've had and she missed quite a lot. One morning I was getting ready to leave and had the strong message that she wouldn't be there and she wasn't. Things like that have happened to me. Some things haven't happened yet but still just as strong in their messages like with Bush going down and I still very very strongly about Kerry being president.

30. The only label I might stick on myself is "Intuitive"
for this is also how I describe my learning, experiencing, and knowing.

ANY system with too many rules stifles me and sends me packing after a while - I really am a loner and a self-taught empirical student of (my) life.

The Astrologer who read me my chart told me that the way I learn is not the conventional way, but a manner all my own driven by my strong intuition. This is so true for me.

The only part of the big picture that I truly believe, see as truth, is that Love is the option called for in any situation to add to the Light on this earth. I know this, see this, but am nowhere near to being able or willing to make this choice in every encounter. Most significantly with myself....

38. You've described it well.
I find that when I feel curious, or drawn to something, I'll immerse myself in it until I've soaked up everything that I can. In the beginning, I'm curious about it all; by the time I'm done, I've harvested a few jewels, and left the rest behind. I'm "done" with that particular phase or experience, but take whatever I found of value with me.

You are right; love is the universal light that we bring to the world and to our lives.

But I don't reject it when I move on (as I did from Macrobiotics and Buddhism)....I am grateful for their lessons but don't want to be part of it any longer...as a system or belief. That is why I don't poo poo New Age ideas and practices that I find "silly" or "too far out" for MY taste at the moment, I just think that they will be used well by others to learn stuff they need or want to know or experience.

34. People are kind of like planets in orbit.
Bear with me here--it sounds goofy at first but I really do see it this way...

You will contact any number of people in your lifetime that you have an interest in--be it you love them, like them, find them interesting in some way, or even dislike them.

Those people are in a slow orbit just like a planet in a solar system, just as you are also in an orbit. At times you will be in close proximity and at other times you will be light years apart. That drift is blameless and part of how the whole system works.

I have really appreciated this group a great deal. I have been introduced to a lot of new ideas and thought forms here, and for that reason I keep on reading and posting. It is a wonderful community that does much to ease my feelings of isolation here in my remote corner of the Midwest. It is also subject to those same planetary ebbs and flows that I described above.

Go in peace and try to enjoy your time in here and out of here.

It is when I can see people I have sharp conflicts or distances with in this light - very rare but wonderful - that I can feel empathy even for my "enemies"....:D

35. the daily intuition thread
We had a thread like this awhile back that I really liked but sometimes I felt like I was the only one posting on it! This was a thread where we posted intuitions or insights. How we knew certain things. I think this would be a good thread to have on a regular basis if we could all get used to posting on it. It would help those unsure of their psychic voice discern what is intuition and what is "chatter" or other types of messages.

Another thread I really liked here was the one on symbolic sight. This thread took national events and looked at them symbolically. I think this one started when a mountain that looked like a man's face crumbled. After that, dozens of posts were added and there we were, off to viewing the world symbolically.
