Anyone ever see the show Long Island Medium?
I watched it with my mother last night. I have to tell you it bugged me. What did you think?

1. I watched it last night
I think Teresa Caputo is a genuine medium, however, her personality is very drama-oriented. I would find it a challenge to be with her around the clock. But I do think she's for real.

2. She feeds off her customers emotional energy.
I think she gets something but I think she is getting it from her subjects. I also think it is presumptive of her to scan people who are not looking for a reading. To me, it is unethical. She goes for that emotional jugular every time causing the subject to re-experience their pain. Totally unnecessary. She spends most of the reading validating her ability but tells them nothing new they didn't already know. To me, it is vampiric.

3. I don't like the fact that she asks questions first.
She solicits information and then says, "Because I'm getting....."

I think she has real ability, but I would be more comfortable if she would just say what she's getting without asking questions.

4. aww, c'mon guys
She initially offended me, but after I watched the show, I not only got to like her, she genuinely amused me because she is such a character.

I will admit that to people outside the NY area, her accent and brazenness can put one off. As a native midwesterner who fled from their conservative political climate, I found this demeanor rude and ungracious. But after 30+ years of living here, I'm used to it.

Lisa Williams, the English psychic who also had a show, used to go up to people at random and tell them similar types of things. Lisa's much more deferential than Theresa, though.

I agree that she's the real thing. She's very intense, as you may have noted from how disturbed she was over the little six-year-old boy who stayed after her to get through to his mother. I see the point about her going for the emotional jugular, too. I wouldn't be surprised if she had not only an emotional personality type (feeler as opposed to analytical or sensor), but that she also has Scorpio, Pisces, or similar such signs in her horoscope.

I watched all the clips about her last night online. I tried to find the earlier Sept. show to watch online but couldn't. :( So the clips at TLC's website were the next best thing. At least they load automatically and after you're through with one, there's another.

I liked her. I'll be watching again. I'm even starting to get over the wierd hairstyle.

6. Yeah, 1965 called and wants its hair back. lol.
I think the 6 yr old dead boy connected through the chord she has connecting her to her son. She was experiencing his mother's grief d/t this chord. The mother obviously could not afford her fee so cancelled and showed up again at the restaurant group hoping she'd give her a reading there. She should have offered her a lunch appt. and rescheduled her friend if this was affecting her like this but she felt the need to milk it.

I'm originally from Long Island and the manner is not alien to me. We enjoyed it for the accent-- since my father died we haven't had a good reason to return. My mother lived in Sayville for a long time growing up. My father's family --they hail from Patchogue. My husband is from Yonkers. Not all Islanders are like this. She kind of reminds me of my father's last girlfriend, another vampire.

5. I want to catch this on TV
I have only caught a small portion of one show. I want to catch this on TV because I am feeling drawn to visit a medium at some point myself.

7. I find her amusing . . .
I think her "job" is hard on her family though, especially her teenagers who just want to be normal kids with a normal mother. I had to laugh at the episode when she was in the supermarket and her daughter was walking behind her and rolling her eyes at her mother and her reading everybody. Teresa turns around to her daughter and says "the spirits are telling me that you are rolling your eyes at me!" I had to laugh because it doesn't take a psychic to know that at any given time, your teenager is rolling their eyes at you! LOL!
