gut bacteria
I am crossposting something I put in Health, just because I think it is fascinating, and because of everything coming out about gut bacteria recently. A particular kind of gut bacteria has now been linked with colon cancer.

This stuff should NOT be alternative, it should be mainstream. People are actually unrecommending my post, which is ridiculous.

BTW, how many of you have ever had a discussion on the composition of your gut bacteria with your doctor? Huh, I thought so. I certainly haven't.

1. I believe we will eventually learn that all cancers are
caused by virus and bacteria.

BTW< Celebration, how can you tell if someone unrecommends? I've never understood that.

2. Well, in this case it was easy
Edited on Tue Oct-18-11 10:24 AM by Celebration
It went from four recommendations to three, meaning *at least* one person unrecommended it. I am not sure why this post would be objectionable to anyone but I won't comment on it in that thread. Edited to add: now on greatest page with 11 votes, but in Health Forum just nine.

Fungus is another cause for cancer. Now they are thinking about trying anti fungal drugs for prostate cancer, even.

13. I could have sworn I posted yesterday, but
There was a doctor lady on PBS, that talked about how all disease usually begins in the gut and once u balance in the gut, everything improves. You can balance your gut bacteria with probiotics the friendly bacteria. I've used it before, and it does the trick!

Also, a few yrs. back I had posted a link about an article that stated that cancer is a fungus as well in GD and they called me out bigtime for it! I am quite thankful to have a home here at ASAH where folks know how to be kind and gentle when disagreeing.

But I think that STRESS is a major contributor to all diseases, but viruses and funguses must truly also play a role in cancer.

8. You mean this thingie rightchere?
Up to 40% of cancers 'are caused by viruses': Discovery offers hope of vaccines and new therapies
17th October 2011

Viruses may cause up to 40 per cent of cancers including brain tumours and leukaemia, scientists claim. If they are proved correct in further tests, it could pave the way for vaccinations against several types of cancer and therapies to cure them.

The claim follows research which has discovered viruses in types of cancer which were never thought to have been linked with infection.

(snip)

It has been known for decades that viruses cause some types of cancer but it was thought to be only 10 to 20 per cent of cases. The best known are the hepatitis B and C bugs, which can cause liver cancer, and the human papilloma virus (HPV) which can cause cervical cancer. Last week scientists at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden found a viral link with medulloblastoma, the most common form of childhood brain tumour. It follows the discovery two years ago that Merkel cell carcinoma, an aggressive skin cancer, often follows infection by the polyomavirus which is common among animals and can spread to humans. It is also claimed that prostate cancers could be caused by viruses.

6. #18! Interesting indeed....we already know H. pylori is linked to peptic ulcers,
so there's certainly validity to what you've posted. More on H. pylori:

Honestly think my daughter had a small issue with this once during a strep infection.

14. Indeed
My dad had two-thirds of his stomach removed (in the early '70s) to alleviate his ulcers. I think that had a direct effect on his later stomach and esophageal cancer and his total removal of (what was left of) his stomach, which he lived without (tube feeding directly into the small intestine) for a year before he died. If only they had known then what we know now.
