Mel Gibson's New Movie, "Apocalypto" is about 2012 from
the Mayan perspective, the actors will be speaking the Mayan language (like Passion was done in Aramaic) and the focus is on the end of the Mayan calendar, 12/21/2012.

I thought many here might be interested in seeing this movie, it's scheduled for the Summer of 2006 and no doubt will be accompanied by much controversy given the subject matter.

I absolutely find this topic fascinating and am very much looking forward to seeing this. Anyone else?

4. I Agree AZDem
I will boycott as well. What is he going to do, show the bloody deaths of all the new agers who believe in the Mayan calendar to please his Fundie support base? I never saw "Passion" and I never will. And I will never go to another Mel Gibson movie. Just my .02.

6. The Passion isn't allowed in my house either--
not that anyone here would be interested. Just saying I won't support his efforts to appease the fundies, either.

No offense intended toward the original poster. Do enjoy the film, you're entitled to like what you like. :hi:

5. Saw a trailer for it the other day...looks to me like

he is gonna go the route of those "horrible heathens". from what I saw, it looked very gory & bloody and not a lot of respect for the Mayans before they "got God".

Seemed to me like a "See this is what is was like before we had wonderful xtianity to save everyone's souls" kinda thing.

I'm with you here AZDem....far as I'm concerned, Gibson doesn't make anything I really care to see. Since its all from his whacked perspective, I'll pass bigtime.

DR

(Great description of Mel BTW  )

Here is a link to the IMBD discussion board about Apocalypto which is quite interesting - about Aztec/Mayan history.

7. That's what I wondered.
If Mel is behind it, I can see it being a portrayal of the white saviors bringing Christianity to the primitive heathen savages--conveniently forgetting to mention that they practically obliterated them with smallpox, sexually transmitted diseases, and advanced technology in weapons.

8. I hope you are wrong about how it will be portrayed,
I was feeling it might be along the lines of how much in common the end of the Mayan calendar, as foretold, might be with the end times as depicted in the bible. I'm no big Gibson fan, but I do hope the movie is a fair assessment. I don't think the end of the calendar means total destruction as fundamentalists believe, so in that respect you may all be right. Perhaps Mr. Gibson will surprise us. It should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

9. All you need to get the gist of it is in the title. Once again, based in
fear. Anyone who knows anything about that date doesn't have fear of an Apocalypse as part of the meaning of that time. David Wilcock, a gifted and talented man, is putting together a movie about the science and cosmological meaning of the 2012 and the Mayan calendar. He's done extensive work on the basic structure of the universe and the purity of geometric, mathematic/physics, Platonic solids and the structure of energy and the list goes on and on. He has covered the greater cycles as they apply to movements within our own galaxy and how the Mayan calendar is mathematically precise because of the knowledge of the greater cycles. A wealth of information on his site:
