Update on the birth chart of Samuel Alito.
I looked, but couldn't find the original thread about this. Remember how we were looking for a birth time for Alito? The famous Astrodatabank folks claim to have viewed his birth certificate. They list his time of birth as 12:56 a.m. (4/1/50, Trenton, NJ).

Now, I'm just a flailing, still-learning amateur, but my cursory glance at Alito's forecast for the next eight months or so...indicated that things could be about to get very interesting on the Court. But I'll leave it up to the experts to elaborate (if anyone wants to share their thoughts, that is).

1. here are a couple of things

Transiting Uranus will soon oppose Alito's 9th house Moon/Saturn conjunction in Virgo(Saturn is ruler of the chart and together Moon and Saturn rule the Asc/Desc axis, - "self/others")and eventually his Mars at 29 Virgo. Since Uranus is ruler of his 2nd house of self-esteem, whatever he does that is unexpected (Uranus)will be, at bottom, about his sense of self-worth. Later, transiting Uranus will oppose Mars. These planets are in tense aspect natally (square)and Mars is co-ruler of the midheaven. This transit has explosive potential and takes place at the Aries point (very public).

When Pluto moves to Alito's ascendant (1 Capricorn- 3-4 years from now) it will oppose his natal Uranus (natally right on the descendant- "others" and in this case, possibly, open enemies) and square his natal Mars at 29 Virgo. Keeping in mind that Pluto and Mars are co-rulers of his midheaven (25 Scorpio) it can be expected that he will do something unexpected (Uranus) and possibly explosive (Mars/Uranus square) in regards to his career. Additionally all this takes place at cardinal points- it will all be visible to the world. Those of us who have lived through a Pluto transit of the ascendant are well aware that this transit often shows a time of profound personal transformation. I think there is hope that Alito will eventually be guided by his morals (real ones), not just ideology. That natal Uranus on the descendant is a red flag that he will not always serve others but will, at some time(s) buck the system unexpectedly.

His natal Pluto (15 Leo) has been involved in the on-again-off-again T square/ square that is happening this year. That clearly reflects the tension, and in this case, ultimate elevation of his career (Jupiter transiting Pluto-ruled tenth house). Even if we didn't know his politics, the status-conscious Capricorn ascendant ruled by retro Saturn in Virgo in the 9th (daddy issues!) would indicate a conservative person. The opposition between transiting Neptune (2nd house) and natal Pluto (8th house) is a spiritual transit and in Alito's case, I would expect that he sees his recent promotion as validation from his Christian god.

It is important to note that Saturn, ruler of Alito's chart, is in a mutable sign- he is capable of change. In fact there is is a balance of cardinal, fixed, and mutable energy in his chart.

This is not predictive, but there is incredible developmental tension in his chart! The rulers of the parental axis (Venus/Pluto) are in opposition (wide, but because of their importance I count it). Saturn and Moon, rulers of 1st/7th in conjunction, and Saturn, chart ruler, is retrograde and Saturn conjuncts Moon. Issues with the parents!

PS I am not an expert, either. I hope some of the gifted "seers" will comment.

2. Heh. "...it can be expected that he will do something unexpected..."

I realize that sofedup cautioned that her impressions aren't predictive, but my first impression is: knew it. I've been telling people for a months that while lots of liberals have money on Roberts as the one who bolts from his neo-con masters (will never happen) on issues of privacy, executive power and corporate protection, it will be Alito who shocks everyone by defying the expectation that he will remain a so-called strict constructionist in all matters. At one time, there was some independent judicial thought there; at one time, there was a man who cared more about law and his role in making it than he did about how his professional image protected the personal secret he may now be less desperate to keep. There was a man who cared about justice. Fairness. Sanity. Unlike the superficial sycophant Roberts, I see Alito's alliance with the neo-cons as having been more about a Capricorn's desire for status...as a way to achieve meaningful professional objectives. I think that--as sofedup's analysis suggests--now that Alito knows how much responsibility he bears for his judicial decisions, he may choose to do what he believes is right, even if it means enraging the neo-cons.

sofedup's comments about Alito's issues with his parents are intriguing. It makes sense that Alito, raised in a rumored "strict, traditional Italian family," would have serious conflicts with one or both parents (especially his father). I believe his father is actually deceased (although we know his mother is still a vocal participant his life). In a way, this gives me more hope for Alito's ability to break away from the Bush clan's influence, primarily because I think it likely that (in contrast to Roberts) Alito's parents represent something more important to him than the neo-cons and their hold over him. For Alito, professional achievement and honor may have been about securing parental approval he may have been denied or felt in fear of losing. Now that he has ascended to the highest professional position he could hope to reach, perhaps he will feel less anxiety about appeasing parental (read: Patriarchal) demands. I think this is especially likely if something happens to the quasi-paternal figures that have been so paramount in his world until his appointment. If Bush and/or Cheney finally suffer their critical fall from grace and removal from office, we may see Alito come into his own, particularly if the spiritual growth sofedup sees in his chart is a factor. If Alito's struggle to do what is best becomes not between him and the neo-con or him and his parents, but between him and his God, he'll do the sane, stable, correct thing on the bench.

3. need to change something
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 11:19 AM by sofedup
I made a big mistake- the MC/IC axis is Libra/Aries. I should have waited to post until this morning when I have more time (I was using astrodatabank's equal house chart where the MC is not conjunct the 10th house cusp and misread it) and I apologize for posting incorrect info- I am sitting here with a red face. That being said, much of what I posted above is the same- I still expect something "out of character" will occur when Pluto transits the ascendant. Though there are still indications of tensions with the parents, less so. With Saturn Rx ruling the ascendant I think his father, dead or not, is still a great influence.

So the ruler of Alito's midheaven, Venus, will be opposed by transiting Saturn in Leo soon- a time of "testing" for all things Venus-ruled in his chart, including career. Once that transit is finished, Neptune, ruler of his 3rd house of thinking and communicating, will also transit Venus. It will be interesting to see if he is discredited in some way- Neptune so often is about deceit.

After seeing my chart for Alito (using Placidus instead if Equal House system)it is heartening to see that his Saturn falls in the 8th rather than 9th house- a further indication that he is capable of change.

BlueIris, thank you for posting Alito's data. I feel slightly hopeful that he will not be a total disaster.
