Some information on trauma (PTSD) recovery ..
<snipped>
Once a trauma befalls us we are forced, whether we like it or not, whether we want to or not, to follow its life-altering path.

At times, this process often leads us through episodes of helplessness and hopelessness. It can terrify us by unveiling the fragility, precariousness and vulnerability of our humanity. It exposes us to the rawness of life as a living species on this planet. It tears at the very fabric of our identity and radically redefines our view of life. However, it is precisely because this experience has burned the bridges of our past ways of thinking that we are forced into a new way of being in life. The old ways of thinking and relating no longer suffice and a new way of being begins to emerge. We discover that on the other side of this frightening journey we have the potential of emerging into a new life of maturity, compassion and wisdom. People who consciously journey through the life altering experience of a traumatic event seem to reintegrate and re-embody themselves in such a way that they are more receptive to a cosmic or expanded experience of life that was previously unavailable to them. Maybe, trauma is the universe's way of helping humanity to develop and mature as a wiser, more compassionate species.

Ran across this while surfing http://www.consciousmedianetwork.com/members/dberceli.htm .

It's an interesting theory. If true it could change the course of our world. I'm thinking of ordering the small booklet and try the exercises. Of course we all know the body/mind connection?
Any ideas?

1. every experience stored in our bodies
The most traumatic experiences effect our bodies the most. Our massage therapist has tales of his patients breaking down in tears occasionally when stored memories are released from muscles. One could do yoga or Tai Chi to address these things.

I do feel that events can be stored in the autonomic nervous system. There are all kinds of ways to address stored trauma energetically. One of the best and cheapest self help mechanisms is EFT--emotional freedom technique.

Here is a website with a lot of free information--

http://www.emofree.com/

I don't personally actually *love* this technique, but I am in the minority. In a general sense, stimulating acupoints while clearing a past event is a great idea, because it accesses the autonomic nervous system, and, yes, changes your response to the event. EMDR (desensitization using eye movement) is really popular for doing the same thing. We are actually programmed to release events during our dreams, and our eye movements. It is just that this system gets overwhelmed at times.

There are just a number of great techniques that can be used.

Good luck.

2. ditto
Stored trauma can be released through the means you mention. IMO there are a lot of beneficial techniques. Bottom line, talk therapy needs to be augmented by bodywork for dealing with PTSD from my experience. Just seconding what you have said.

4. Please understand .
I'm only talking about this right now. I had some clearings with meditations.

Yes, they are stored in our bodies. I have a couple of trigger points.
Once a chiropractor's office put a tens on my lower back and I started crying. For no reason?
I also have one on my left upper thigh. I know exactly where it came from. When having body work this past summer, I broke down in tears when that area was addressed.
Abdominal massage has made me cry also.

I'm a licensed mt. My dream in school was to work with formerly abused women.
Yes. Much is stored in the body. And touch is a powerful way to release.
It might take a while. I don't know.

3. I won't minimize the abhor ration that is trauma inflicted on a psyche

by trumpeting the silver lining that may be the "Universe's plan" for helping to create wisdom this way, especially considering the evil that is complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD). Kinda hard to be more mature or wiser as the result of trauma when the effects of this trauma are permanent, as CPTSD is. However, for some, facing the traumatic consequences of negative actions may be one of the only ways that they will learn that these actions are negative, inappropriate and/or wrong. I still can't get on board with the idea that trauma is a "good" thing, though, in any possible sense, nor do I feel that is the best way for anyone, yes, even the karmically impaired, to learn wisdom.

5. That's hard for me to accept also ..
I didn't know there was such a thing as permanent trauma disorder. But nothing is impossible.
I have no clue how young men and women can recover from war time.
It is easier to imagine it might happen in our day to day mishaps (trauma)
I grew up with trauma. Has it made me a 'better person'? Depends on your perspective.

Maybe our challenge now is to bring them home and nurse them back to health.
I, for one, do not want to see a replay of VietNam vets left to whirl with the wind.
That seems too cruel.

But then no one appointed me Queen of the Universe. Yet :D

To address your post: trauma comes in all sizes. If you are talking about major stuff, I cannot comment. Don't know. Ho'ponoponopono might be worth a try. Lifes are changed. Daily. How it happens, I don't know. I don't know a lot.

You won't get any arguments from me. I vote for an easier softer way. Life doesn't seem to have one of those.

For sure, if someone is hurting other people.. well george comes to mind . then what? How to deal with that? He is a victim of trauma?

In my own small world, I have learned to give thanks for all ill (trauma) that has befallen.
That doesn't mean I'm over it yet. But I'm a mile above those who would say, stay in trauma-mode.
Maybe a quarter mile.
