February 18, 2007 - Chinese New Year - Year of the Red Fire Pig
(Article says that it falls on February 17th in North America, so I'm not sure when it is actually celebrated in North America.)

2. Most of the Chinese celebrations, at least in my area, are on Sunday the 18th.
But actually they go on for several weeks, there are also more celebrations on the 25th and March 4th. This is the biggest holiday in the Chinese community and they love to celebrate and party for weeks. It is not really one day that is special, it is the whole month.

We are going to some of the parties, someone in my family is Chinese so we do the Chinese holidays. In addition to the Christian and Jewish ones....
By Easter and Passover, I am burned out :(..........

The neat thing about Chinese New Year spiritually, is that it is a time for a new beginning, in that one pays off all debts, rights all wrongs, and makes corrective action in the New Year period, to start the year off right!

And there is lots of time with friends and family eating and making merry. Lots of entertainment. All the children sing and dance and wear their Chinese outfits, have a dragon dance, etc. And children are given red packets of money. A very happy time for all.
