So have you ever manifested a "chance" encounter?

I ask because, well, long story short, I know an older man and his family that I have been thinking about a lot lately (dreamed about 'em a couple of times as well) - for no particular reason. The man was one of my graduate school profs. I took several classes with his wife and later worked in a school his kids attended. That was many years ago. While I do not believe there are any hard feelings or resentments between us we have had only casual and infrequent contact through the years. We have had no contact at all within the last three or four years. They live and work within a three or four mile radius of my home and so far as I know we do not have any mutual acquaintances.

There have been several occasions in the past when I found myself thinking of them only to encounter them in a store or restaurant or parking lot or .... somewhere .... only to learn they were facing some particular difficulty or challenge at the time. Happened when a teenage kid got pregnant (unbeknownst to me I even happened to visit the ice cream shop where the grandparents-to-be were meeting for the first time). Happened when the son got divorced. Happened with some career changes. And some litigation and a home sale and move. I sensed they were moving months before the "For Sale" sign appeared in the yard. Happened when a couple of the grandchildren were born. Happened when there was a death in the family. I'm not quite sure why I seem to have this connection with these folks. The most I have ever been able to offer is a listening ear, my prayers and perhaps a few words of encouragement. I doubt I have ever made mention to them of the connection I sometimes sense. I've just never thought that necessary or appropriate.

It has always struck me as incredibly strange that I do not ever seem to encounter or bump into these folks unless I am thinking about them and something fairly significant is going on with them. Given the history it bothers me that I have been thinking about them so much lately. I wonder what's going on. I suppose I could pick up the phone and give them a call but somehow that seems intrusive - like doing so would somehow be a violation of appropriate boundaries. For now, I am sending light and love - and asking the universe for another "chance" encounter provided of course it is for the good of all involved. Not sure why this seems so important to me. It just does.

But several of my more significant "chance" encounters of the last few years don't seem random or the result of chance at all anymore.

There is another person I encountered last fall while computer shopping. A classmate I hadn't seen in nearly ten years that I had worked closely with while in my MBA program. Turns out she has an extended family member living in another part of the country that has started a business in the last couple of years very similar to the one I aspire to start.

So many, I no longer consider them chance encounters. I now realize that a part of me is in tune with the future and I will know things before I should know them, and I will often have this happen with people I know only a little. Students, for example. I will think of them, a student I haven't had for a dozen years, and they will appear.

You may not be manifesting an encounter as much as you are anticipating it.

I think sending light and love is a meaningful response given the circumstances. Good luck. And maybe you'll start noticing other things.

This episode seems a little different - more ummmmm .... intense ....? maybe. Not sure exactly how to describe it. I'm very curious and concerned about what's going on with these folks. And while I will not initiate contact with them I really would like to happen across them sometime and have the opportunity to find out just what the deal is...... I'm even tempted to visualize such an encounter but have refrained from doing so.

Does it seem odd to you that this happens with people you only know just a little?

Rationally, it strikes me as a little strange that I seem to have this kind of connection with folks I rarely encounter in my day to day life. It doesn't feel creepy or wierd in any way though. It just feels like I have some connection to these folks that I cannot understand in rational terms. Odd.

I haven't gone through the same thing you have, but I do have a habit of thinking of something or someone "out of the blue", with no apparent trigger for it, and pretty soon I hear some news regarding who or what I just thought of. Kind of similar, but different.

Sounds like the people you think of when they're going through difficult times are in your soul group--you have no direct link with them in this lifetime, but you still have the superconnection that draws you to them when they could use your light and love.

Definitely believe the vibes you're getting, as you know you have a proven track record with this kind of thing. However, you may not actually physically run into them this time, as perhaps you've evolved past the need to see them in the flesh in order to confirm that they need your good vibes. But I'll bet, even if you don't actually run into them, that you'll hear what was up with them soon enough. Keep doing what you're doing for them--I'm certain their higher selves appreciate it very much! :hi:

As others in this discussion have pointed out. And it isn't about you 'manifesting' them. There are reasons for every encounter.

Since I first posted I "happened" to come across a live local media broadcast in which the older man I talked about was speaking. Kind of unusual since he is not one to seek the limelight. Never has been in my experience. As I listened I realized I was hearing something rather remarkable. He was challenging folks not to be fearful in spite of media efforts to instill fear and in spite of external circumstances including increasing food, gas and utility costs. I have long known this man to be politically conservative and I have long suspected him to be somewhat fundamentalist (although I have never observed him to be preachy, aggressive or outspoken in matters of faith and spirituality). Yet the content of his speech was decidedly neither conservative or fundamentalist. So now my curiosity is further peaked. Is his change of view the result of detached and rational observation or is it born of personal challenge and tragedy? Perhaps some combination of the two?

Apparently, I was not clear in my OP. I do not consider this or many of our earlier encounters to be mere coincidence (hence my use of quotation marks). What I was really asking (or trying to anyway) was whether anyone here had purposefully focused their efforts on manifesting such an apparently "chance" encounter. There is obviously something going on here and I have some confirmation of that beyond my own intuition. I'm continuing to send light and love but, damn it, I'd really like to know what's going on with these folks.

But I have thought about friends I hadn't talked to in a while, and the phone would ring soon after.
