I have had 2 weird dreams in the last 3 days and I would like to get opinions
of anyone who cares to opine.

On Tuesday night, I had the first of two weird dreams.

In the first dream, I was standing on a corner of two busy streets. I was waiting for the light to change to allow me to cross and the direction that I was facing was north. I then noticed that there was a man who was behind and to the left of me. He was agitated and nervous and once I turned around, I saw that he was blind. He had dark glasses, a white cane, the whole bit.

I walked over to him and asked him if he was okay. He said that he was new to the area and wasn't sure about crossing the busy street. It was then that I saw that he looked like Vanilla Ice, so help me God.
I told him that I would walk with him and help him across the street.

The street had 3 lanes going north and 3 going south. The direction that we were walking in was west. BTW, he always stayed to my left. We crossed the first three lanes, stopping momentarily on the center island and then crossed the last three lanes. Once we made it to the sidewalk, I asked him if he would be okay. He told me was and asked me to come to his home because he had a gift for me to express him gratitude.

I agreed, (something that I would never agree to in waking life, trust me). So we made our way to him home which turned out to be fairly close by. He lived in the front unit of a fourplex. BTW, the outside of this home was pink stucco.

We went into the home and he put him cane away. He never left the room. I looked at him and noticed that he'd changed appearance. He now appeared to be a grandfatherly type man with graying, receding hair and had perfect vision! Again, in waking life, I'd have found a way to get out of that house if I had to eat my way through the walls but I was strangely calm.

He then told me that he had to clean me before he gave me the gift. Somehow, out of nowhere, he produced a thick shampoo like liquid that was the colour of fresh cantaloupe. He placed me in a chair and reclined it and began to lather my face, hair and everything above my waistline. He washed the makeup off my face with the exception of the kohl lining my eyes. My hair had reverted, (I'm of a mixed african descent) and somehow, he was able to rinse me completely~~(I never saw a faucet or sink. I have no idea where that water came from)~~ and comb my hair so that it was pulled back into a ponytail. He raised me back up and not only had all of that been done but I wasn't wet or even damp.

He then left the room and came back, stood behind me and draped the most beautiful, gossamer tallit , (Jewish prayer shawl) over the head and shoulders. The thing about this prayer shawl is that it was woven from silver! I actually felt the tassels that were on the edges of the shawl.

It was so fine that it draped like the finest silk charmeuse. I could see through the weave. He draped that shawl first on my left side and swathed it across my body to the right side and then followed with the right side and draped it to the left side. He then hugged me and told me that this was the gift that I was being given because of what I had done. I started to say a prayer and I woke up.

I didn't dream Wednesday night but last night, I had another strange dream. In this dream, my husband and I travelled to Arizona, to what apparently the Four Corners Area. There was a great gathering of the southwest nations there. We had travelled with a trailer that was made of dark redwood. We parked it near some buildings where there were literally thousands of different native Americans of various southwest nations. My husband went to check something out and I wandered to through the gathering and started to walk towards the lowering sun, toward the southwest.

I was then met by a man who identified as a Chiricawa?(sp) Apache. He had the most beautiful copper brown skin, black hair and the longest black eyelashes I have ever seen, not to mention the most beautiful, warm smile i've ever seen. He was dressed in a brown uniform and although I don't remember what it said, there was some sort of embroidered patch on the left shoulder and his shirt pocket. He was about 5'7" in height and sort of a stocky build. He had working man's hands and I noted that he had big feet for his height. He gave me his arm to hold as we strolled north to the main gathering.

We were walking right next to a mesa and it was casting a shadow on us. As we were walking toward the rest of the people, I noticed that what I first thought was a large kite. As I continued to look, I realised that it was 5 GINOUROUS native faces that had headdresses made of crow feathers. There was a separate kite/face that was slightly larger in front of the other 5 faces. They were looking at me, actually tilting their faces down toward me and I could see the the huge crow/raven feather ruffle in the wind as well as their hair and the cloth around their heads.

The man who was walking beside was telling me the histories of the nations, although I cannot remember what he said. We continued to walk arm in arm, toward the rest of the people. As with the earlier dream, he stayed to my left side the entire time. Once we got past the mesa, somehow, he disappeared and I walked on by myself. My attention was drawn by some women dancing in the beautiful dresses that were obviously hand woven and dyed. One was dressed in green, another in Blues and the last in russet. There were three women and they had babies on their backs. From their hairstyles, I would say that the were Hopi.

I could hear various chants and singing all around me and saw people weaving and selling backets of all sorts, throwing and selling beautiful pottery, and all stages of carding fiber, making thread while others were dyeing them and weaving the thread into incredible cloth and blankets. I saw people grinding corn and other seeds and various other foodstuffs.

I noted that the sun was starting to set and decided to walk toward another group of people the west. There were Zuni and Hopi women, again they all had babies strapped to their backs. I walked toward the people and noticed that something was sparkling in the distance. I walked toward it and realised as I got closer that it was a lake in the middle of the desert. I walked across the Arizona state border into New Mexico, (strange), to get to that lake. The lake was surrounded by gentle hills and the occasional boulder, along with a few desert plants. There were mountains to the north, as I recall.

I then realised that I hadn't seen my husband and knew he would be getting worried so I walked back into Arizona and began to look for him. I saw him a couple of times in the distance but could never catch up with him. At the end of the dream, I saw a man on a bike who was riding with another man wo looked like my husband from the back but when I caught up with him and he turned around, I saw it wasn't him. That's when I woke up.

I would appreciate any input on these strange dreams because I'm sure that they're connected. I'm so close to them that I cannot reliably interpret them for myself. So please feel free...:hi:

1. Holy moly
What fantastic dreams!

My sense is that whatever you have done to date, you have done very well from a spiritual pov and you are being very well taken care of by your guide or guides. Have you just finished a project or a job or do you feel that something has recently ended that you were involved with for a long time? Seems like you are getting prepared to move to the next thing or next level and meeting some of the new peeps. No matter what happens next, don't forget to stay grounded and remember your connections to who you came with - ie your husband or those who care about you such as family and friends.

Sure beats my apparently random dream about meeting former Cubs' pitcher Rick Sutcliffe. Yeesh. And I am not a Cubs fan - would much rather be walking thru the mesa with attractive spirit guides!

2. Here is some wild guesses...
The first one is much easier for me to grasp. It is like so many traditional stories of how a kind person helps a seemingly powerless stranger only to find out the unlikely stranger is a deity, angel or other good spirit in disguise and in return is given valuable gifts. In your case your good works earned you a rebirthing. You are bathed in earthly sweetness (the cantaloupe colored cleanser) which washes away everything that is not really you (the makeup) and making your hair spring back to it's unaltered form. That the eyliner stayed maybe represents spiritual vision, maybe something to do with eye of Horus....

After the rebirth you are gifted with a precious holy (or nearly so) object. I interpret this as your work has paid off and your accomplishments have earned you recognition and gifts. Be open to receiving such in waking life for you have earned it. Please allow yourself to enjoy it as well.

The second I see as you are on a spirital path that has/will have you explore many areas and experience many things. You will have guides to assist and support you on your adventures. Your husband is in a similar path but it will diverge temporarly for a time. Don't panic, it is just your meanderings taking you one way and his explorations another but both will end up in the same area in the end.

Just my wild gusses and rampant speculation, please feel free to ignore any or all of it as I am no pro!

5. The eyeliner
Love this >

That the eyeliner stayed maybe represents spiritual vision, maybe something to do with eye of Horus....

That eye of Horus image crossed my mind too when reading her description. In this dream, the 'eyes' have it. B-)

Also like what you said about her husband's diverging path in the second dream...a temporary thing most likely.

8. About the eyeliner
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 02:02 AM by undergroundpanther
Khol is what they called it in Egypt.Originally it was made with fine oil, lampblack and galena.Galena is a rock metallic and black it has lead in it.The lead in the galena eventhough it's a bad idea to smear lead on your face,it served a purpose,it kept the Egyptians eyes free of infections, bugs and like a football player puts those dark lines on his cheeks, the khol also took away glare so the person could see in the sunny desert.
Egyptian mothers would apply kohl to the eyes of babies soon after they were born believing its application would strengthen the child's eyes and preventing the child from being cursed by an "evil eye.

And..
The sun god, Re (a form of Atum),
ruled over the earth,
where humans and divine beings coexisted.
Humans were created from the Eye of Re or wedjat
(eye of wholeness).
This happened when the eye separated from Re and failed
to return.The gold eye,Solar..Right eye.
Shu and Tefnut tried to make the eye come back but the eye didn't want to go back. In the ensuing struggle, the eye shed tears from which humans were born.

The eye or Utchat also represents the power to see, to illuminate and to act. The act of bringing the eye back to the creator
was equivalent to healing the earth — the restoration of right and order.
The word utchat, sometimes spelled udjat, refers to Egypt's sacred eye symbol. The right eye is called the Eye of Ra, symbolizing the sun. The left is called the Eye of Thoth, symbolizing the moon. Both eyes together are the Two Eyes Of Horus The Elder. The eye is the part of the body able to perceive light, and is therefore the symbol for spiritual ability.
http://www.shira.net/symbols.htm

Very interesting since the guy you helped was blind. And he aged before your eyes, for Horus with both eyes is the ELDER Horus.

And since the shawl was silver,Ra's other eye,the left is the moon, silver.it is the eye of Thoth.
And a silver Tallit has an interesting moon connection.

The Hebrew word khol has two meanings. Many translations
say sand but it can also be translated phoenix bird. In this corrected translation
it is indicating resurrection hope.
Or The Bennu bird, and the ben ben stone.

3. Beautiful dreams!
Edited on Sat Jul-26-08 04:46 PM by Dover
Also full of wonderful detail, not all of which can probably be addressed.
But I agree that the two dreams are related.
And of course interpretations must ultimately be done by the dreamer themselves since they are
symbolically everything in their dreams and assign their personal characteristics, values, etc. to everything.
It's also relative to where you are in your life, which you haven't shared yet.
However there are also broader archetypal elements with universal themes we all share.

There seems to be a special significance in these dreams given to the four directions and
left vs. right. While different cultures assign different meaning to these, I think
an underlying theme that links them all has to do with spiritual integration in order that
we become whole. Similar to alchemy with the different elements (fire, water, etc.).
So perhaps even more important than the significance of east or west, is the indication
in the first dream that you change direction while standing at a crossroad. However if you
have a particular knowledge of one system (say, for instance, the native american interpretation
of the four directions), then that would likely come into play more and give these directional
shifts another layer of meaning for you.

So, that said, I'll throw out some immediate impressions of the first dream.

It feels as though you may be at a crossroads, particularly as regards your spiritual life and soul purpose. You are heading north. And yet some part of you which perhaps considers itself 'blind' and unable to navigate this intersection is needing to move in another direction. This is the classic story of the beggar or otherwise disabled person whose path we cross that asks for help of some kind. And if we are able to respond to this (even if it means venturing WAY outside our comfort zone
or making what seems great sacrifice), we are rewarded. In this case the reward (in fact the whole theme of the dream) seems to be related to new sight, and a discovery of ones innate ability to see and navigate in new directions. The blind young man is on the left (which is the side of our bodies which is directed by the right side of the brain, the feminine, unconscious, intuitive, creative, yin), which is perhaps a part of yourself that you feel 'blind' to or unable to access. The man is also redirecting you toward the west which, if the crossroads were given the symbolic value of the cross, would perhaps also suggest the place where heaven and earth meet and West might be the unknown or a direction of completion. West and left may reinforce one another symbolically. What does west mean to you?

Once you have completed the task, the man becomes old and has perfect sight (wisdom, clarity, and the symbol of the divine wise man).
The reward is another archetypal symbol...the 'cloak' or shawl...received after purification ceremony, wrapping and crossing you left to right and vise versa (indicating further integration?).
It is both a protective and divine shroud, and while you feel it's physicality (the weight and jangling on your skin), it's also transparent. You can see through it.
Silver is associated with the feminine, the moon, the intuitive, and something of value as regards personal development (to name a few things).
I don't know if you are Jewish, but perhaps there is more background info from you that might add other religious/spiritual meaning to this shawl or ritual. And the 'blind man' indeed does have sight. So perhaps learning of your own sight, your ability to navigate, lead, and see through the veil and reaffirm your connection to the divine, IS the reward.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, even though you feel too close to this dream to interpret it, perhaps you understand more
than you think. At least I hope that my throwing this out there will spark something, even if it's a gut feeling that my interpretation is off.

----------------

Native American traditions may vary somewhat in the terms they use to describe the meaning of the four directions, but the sources of the meaning are the same.

East is where the sun rises. The eastern spirit of sun or fire brings warmth and light. It is the place of beginnings. Its light brings wisdom. It is the power of knowledge.

South is the sun at its highest point. It is the direction from where warm winds blow. South is the spirit of earth, the power of life. It represents peace and renewal.

West is the spirit of water. It is the direction from which darkness comes. It is the power of change, the place of dreams, introspection and the unknown. The west signifies purity and strength.

North is the spirit of wind. The cold wind blows from the north. It is the power of wisdom. Here we take time to reflect on what we began in the east, in the morning, in our youth.

4. these dreams are your destiny.
First of all, all three of my fellow DUers did a great job interpreting the dreams. I know - I do this all the time. B-) B-)

While all three have laid it out, I especially agree with Dover. If you circle around the dreams, you'll find the answers are there already Here's a few things I would say about the first dream:
1. First, heading north is usually a sign of spiritual journeying, back to the place of the ancestors. I think that shows up in the next dream. Meeting the man is one of your initiations along the way there. One of the things that happens is that you switch directions and therefore focus from the life/death axis to the awakening/wisdom one. This is about awareness, about how you're going to face the life/death/life cycle. You're stepping into that place of integration and awareness.
2. whoever Vanilla Ice is to you is the part of you that you obviously don't like. But it's a guy so it's about your 'doing' side - how you take action. And that's because he can't see - your ego is doing the seeing for him. YOu're going west with him, to go into the place of mystery about this aspect of yourself you have to transform. When you get to his home, he becomes a wise guide that initiations you into that higher state of consciousness, which comes from immersing yourself in the divine feminine. For the Jews it would be the Shekhina.
3. The way he wrapped the cloth around you was almost like Orsiris - a death and rebirth image. Contained within the divine feminine. Also over your breasts.

The second dream is what you meet when you finally get to the North (from your other dream).
Whether we have Native American blood or not, I believe that some of us have Native souls. This is awakening in you. I love it that you meet a Chirakowa Apache - that's one tribe I've been initiated into in the dream world. They're great warriors. And he's your guide - an ancestor perhaps.

You have to go work with crow/raven energy.

and yet, there's many women with babies in your dream. These are the women who know how to save the world. their children are their promise. It's almost as if you've discovered a hidden place where many people are working to live a simple, sacred life. The lake in the midst of the desert.

Well, these dreams are great. Keep working on them. They're treasures.

Cathy

6. Would love to hear more about crow/raven energy.
All those babies seem to indicate a new generation and preparing the way. Love how you describe that community. And indeed that lake is like the womb, a special place to conceive, gestate and nurture the new world.

Can't wait to hear Ecumenist's interpretation of her dreams. We've certainly had fun with them!

7. Let me just give some impressions that might be of help
(1) The first dream seems to be a very good one in terms of cleansing and spiritual prepping. The guy with you is blind in the outer world but can see when he's in the house. That would suggest to me that ths part of you doesn't see the outer world clearly but has a good perception of the inner consciousness. The pink stucco might suggest a feminine aspect because of the color, and as I say the washing and providing with the spiritual coverings sound very good to me in terms of spiritual cleansing and preparation. You're traveling at right angles to the flow, north = mind or mental or spiritual, south = the physical body. But you're going west = new life, new possibilities, opportunities, go west young (wo)man, etc. and this guy is going to prepare you for that new opportunity. The cleansing: hair is your thinking and you're getting that cleaned up and put in order. The compliments are indicative of the good work you've done so far on yourself, your thinking and your life.

(2) The second dream could represent a gathering together of your feelings about the Indian element (maybe due to past lives there?) This represents a great strength of yours at any rate. The 5'7" guy with the big feet suggests a great strength and understanding (big feet). You have the support of all these people. THis is an understanding of the earth, mother earth. At the end, however, you are trying to get back with your husband, so you're trying to integrate this new western (west again, new opportunities) csness with your present life and not at the moment succeeding in recognizing how he wd relate to this new arena of activity for you. The bike suggests balance, the need to keep your balance during these times. It strongly suggests you're being looked over by a lot of earth-conscious forces and energies (guides?)

Overall, a very powerful set of dreams. What connects them for me is the "west" motif, and the fact so much of it is outdoors. The first dream speaks to the inner; the last one to the outer world maybe.

Usually w/ such positive big dreams it's best to dialogue with some of the characters and symbols and journal about the themes of the dreams to give the energies more power in your life. With so many powerful symbols you could journal and dialogue for a year and not run out of material!

Good luck in whatever new enterprises await you. You're being much guided and helped.

9. The pupil is in the eye

"Cyclopean Make-Up" by Salvador Dali

As there is oil in sesame seed

and a spark in flint

thus your Beloved is in your body.

Wake it if you can.

As the pupil is in the eye

so is the creator in the body.

The fool does not know this secret

and runs outside

looking for it in vain.

That what you seek

is in the four corners of the earth.

It is inside,

you do not see it,

because it lives behind the veils of illusion.

11. Hello All and thank you for your input....
There's so much here that I would have never come up with and it's made me think...alot.

First of all I was asked by one of the posters if I was Jewish...no BUT from the time I was about 3 years old, I always spoke about having to be a witness when I would watch the old "World At War", (I think that's the title of the show~~ I was born in 1964 and named after a women who had survived Bergen Belsen. When my mother found out she was pregnant, this lovely lady who had been a concert pianist in pre-war Europe, found out that she had a few months to live due to terminal brain cancer. She asked my mother to, if she had a girl, to name me after her and when I was born, indeed, I was named after that lady. My name is Melody, as was hers. I knew things that had happened in the camps as a small child and would be, when my mother would tell me that she didn't want me to watch the terrible films of bodies, the ovens and the skeletal survivors~~"but mother, there has to be a witness".

I also spoke with a clear and distinct British accent for the first 5-6 years of my life, which I suppose wouldn't be abnormal for some except that I was born in southern California to a Midwestern Tulsa Oklahoman mother and a South Carolinian father. I am also mostly African descent. I had to be taught to speak American English and to call my mother "mom" instead of mother. My mother and maternal grandmother believed that I died in one of the concentration camps which is why I knew so much about what happened there.

I also knew alot about Judaism, to the point where one of my closest friends who is a Reformed Jew was shocked when I told her things that she was studying with a ultraconservative Rebbe that few people outside of the denomination of Judaism would know and this was well before she began the study. So, am I Jewish...not this time around it seems...

As it applies to the native blood, I have ALOT of Indian blood. My paternal grandmother grew up on a reservation in Florida; I also have Blackfoot, had a Mikosukee great-great grandmother, Cherokee, Mixtec blood, (I just found this out in January from an Uncle), Osage Seminole and God only knows what other nations. There may even be Apache but I don't know yet.

So, looking back on it, I wasn't completely surprised by the Native people showing up.

Now, the bit of dream interpretation, I got the cleansing theme. I felt that the "blind man" was an Angel and wanted to see if anyone else got the impression. I wondered if the overall themes of the dreams had anything to do with the fertility treatment I recently began. I have no children and have recently began treatment for them. The comment about the temporary divergence of paths for Mr Ecu and me was something I didn't understand from the dreams but when I look at with the light of interpretation of all of you, it makes sense.

The eye of Horus also has connection to me as my mother's family is North African and although I am not certain of any Egyptian ancestors, it wouldn't surprise me. Thank you UnderGroundPanther for your information. I have been thinking alot about what you said and it makes sense. I couldn't understand why this Angel left the kohl around me eyes.

I've been out of town for the last couple of days and have had the latest in these weird dreams...last night.

I was visited be my mother, who is deceased. She was smiling at me and took me by the hand led me to the bathtub in the home I lived in from ages 8 to 12 years old. She had filled the tub with water and placed me in~~clothes and all. She then placed TO MY LEFT 3 candles. The candle @ my head was a white candle; the candle that corresponded to my midsection and was in the soap dish of the bathtub was a greenish~blue and finally the one that was to the left of my feet was a dark red candle. I was worried that they were going to fall into the tub because they shouldn't have been able to stay where she placed them. I told my mother that I was going to move them because I was afraid they'd fall into tub. She then sent my brother, one who has stolen from me as well as her to get the candles and in essence, to act as servant. I didn't want him near me but he insisted on acting as a servant, bowing and scraping, literally keeping his head down so that it was never as high as mine. As it applies to directions, the bath tub faced west and my mother approached me from west as well and she as well, stayed to my left and so did my idiot brother.

I suppose I'm wondering why I'm being sent all these dreams of being cleansed...literally it seems. I also wonder if this has to do with my desire to have children and the beginning of fertility treatment.

12. Fascinating!

Lots of ancestoral connections and support going on in these dreams.

And the second dream, in particular, seems relevant to the fertility issue. The lake as womb
in an otherwise dry environment and the women with children as guides. And perhaps your husband
is not directly involved in the process as he might be naturally?

And your mother assisting you with the waters and candles....beautiful. The red, white and green are colors of the chakras. http://www.crystalinks.com/chakras.html

And I see so many references to alchemy in the symbolism too:

In alchemy, the entrance into the unconscious is represented by the entrance into caves, by reports of travels to the underworld or strange parts of the world. Another important representation is the king who is taking a bath. The conscious is the king, and the bath or bath water is the unconscious. By bathing he enters into the unconscious. In alchemical terms he is being permeated by the water (aqua permanens) or quicksilver.

http://www.soul-guidance.com/houseofthesun/alchemy%201.htm#1.The%20Great%20Work

Another symbol is the ‘coniunctio’ (conjunction) or ‘conceptio’ (conception) that primarily takes place in water, in a spring or a fountain. The queen then represents the feminine, water, the unconscious.

Seems to be so many levels and layers of meaning going on in these dreams...so rich with symbolism.

13. AH!
That explains the temporary seperation in journeys - you are exploring women's mysteries of fertility, pregnancy, birth and life giving and as much as any husband can take part, help and support the vast majority of it takes part in your body, not his and so your paths diverge in that sense for a time.

All these cleansing/baptismal dreams are probably a way of preparing the way for your next stage in life washing away different layers of the past. The candles might corespond to the chakras white for crown (spirit), blue-green for heart (love, connection) and throat (creativity, manifestation), red for root (primal needs & fears, kundalini).

It is facinating and wonderful how all your genetic and soul roots are manifesting in these dreams! Thank you so much for sharing your dream journeys. Best wishes and may the spirits of your choice bless you on path to motherhood!
