OMG! Seven stray cats outside!
OMG. The manager told me they have some strays, and not to feed them. One of the neighbors pointed out another neighbor with "cats". Surely these aren't her SEVEN? Cannot be. She lives on the other half of the complex, but cats do wonder.

They look to be about 2-3 months old and healthy. I am in shock. If these are the strays, what shall I do? My Boogs wants to go out. We've had a few cautious trips out with me holding him. It will take a long time for him to adjust to such a situation, if ever. When we both caught sight of that herd, we were taken quite aback. Oh dear.

1. If they are really and truly strays
capture them and bring to the nearest animal shelter. Perhaps your local animal control board (or whatever it's called where you are) can provide you with traps for that purpose. The life of a stray is not a good one, so you'd be doing them a favor.

2. If you can catch them, maybe you can find a BIG
box to put them in and take them to the animal shelter. Or call the animal shelter and see if they can help you round them up. That is so sad. It sounds like someone dumped a litter (or two) of kittens. At any rate, call the shelter and ask what can be done about it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

3. little cats are easy to find homes for
the older they get, the harder it is. That's why, if you can get through to your no-kill animal shelter, they can probably find someone to adopt them. I would sure hope that your local shelter doesn't kill them after a short time but they might. That's why it's important to find a no-kill shelter.

Oh dear, I get so sad at the thought of kittens without a home.

Cher

p.s. I'm with the other posters--I think someone dumped off a litter.

BTW, one time I went to the Petco and it was cold as could be that night. Maybe 10 degrees. I saw a litter of kittens dumped off at the front door. I told the manager and he got upset but he brought them in. They were longhaired calicos. I raced home to see if Mr. C would let me take two. He said yes but by the time I got back to the Petco, they had all been adopted by customers who had walked into the store after me. Point is--little ones are very likely to find a home if people know they're out there.

4. I think it's a litter too.
Six of them look pretty much the same, white with a few brown spots. Very cute. They are skittish, but not feral. It breaks my heart too. I'm going to talk to the neighbor with other cats and the apartment manager to get input on how to proceed. I was up all night, and spotted them out in the early morning hours. That's going to make it more difficult to round them up. I don't think I would be allowed to put traps out in the public area. Maybe around the parking lot though. SOMEONE here must be feeding them, else why would they stick around?

5. I do hope you can catch them and get them to a shelter
where they can be adopted. My own Simon and Henry are kittens from a litter that was dumped, and they are wonderful boys!

6. Yes, and also, there will be more kittens around soon if they aren't...
caught. It seems as though cats can reproduce quite early. :(
