Can anyone tell me about Ganesha? I met him last night in a way
As I was trying to fall asleep I asked my guides for help with an issue and I suddenly saw him in my mind's eye. He felt so very kind, sweet and cheerful and kept wiggling his elephant ears at me to make me laugh instead of fret myself into a froth :) I don't remember him telling me anything, just showing me that he is with me and willing to help. I can't believe I forgt this happened until just now :crazy: BTW his head was that of an elephant which I know is normal for him but is it normal for it to be a light blue shading into yellow in the middle of his forehead and trunk? In any case I fel honored to have met him and felt his energy :)

1. That's a wonderful experience you had!
And it fits with what little I know of Ganesh, too. When I saw your post, my thoughts went to the book "Archangels and Ascended Masters" by Doreen Virtue, so I have transcribed the two pages of that book on Ganesh for you :D

Ganesh
(Hindu; Indian)
Also known as Ganesha.

Ganesh is an elephant-headed deity who removes obstacles for anyone who asks for his help. He is the Hindu god of prosperity and wisdom, who also assists with writing and art projects. Many different stories about that explain why Ganesh has an elephant’s head. In most stories, Ganesh lost his head (perhaps because of this father’s anger), and Ganesh’s mother took the first head that she could find—a baby elephant’s—and placed it on her son’s neck.

In Hinduism, Ganesh is the first deity contacted during prayers. It’s recommended that you invoke Ganesh prior to conducting a ceremony, engaging in writing, or before any endeavor in which you want to succeed.

Ganesh is extremely loving, sweet, polite, and gentle, yet also very strong. He’s large enough to blaze trails ahead of you so that your path is clear, but he’s also so filled with love and sweetness that you don’t have to worry that his brute strength could turn against you. He’s analogous to Archangel Michael, in that he’s a loving and loyal protective force.

Ganesh is called “the Remover of Obstacles” because he mows down any blocks that could stand in his path. Think of a tame elephant walking ahead of you on a trail, trampling brush so that your way is clear. That is Ganesh.

I was having difficulty at airports at one time because security guards kept stopping me to open and search my carry-on bags. Since my husband and I travel nearly every weekend, I quickly grew weary of these frequent suitcase searches. I wanted the security personnel to ignore me and just let me through without stopping me. So, I placed a small statue of Ganesh in my carry-on bag. From that moment on, my bags were never again searched.

Ganesh immediately comes to those who call upon him. For example, I was on the telephone talking with my friend Johnna following the death of her mother. I was consoling her when I suddenly saw a clairvoyant image of Ganesh next to her. I said, “Johnna, did you call on Ganesh?” And she answered, “Yes! I’m wearing a necklace with a medallion of Ganesh on it. I’ve been rubbing the picture all day, calling for Ganesh to be with me.”

Ganesh says, ”I see all obstacles as being surmountable; in fact, I don’t see obstacles at all, and that’s the point: All barriers in your path are self-imposed. They represent your decision to be afraid of moving forward. You cast your fear outward by projecting thoughts into the future, worried that either this or that may occur. Your worries about the future have created blocks and boogeymen that you will meet on your future path. But don’t worry—since they’re your own creation, you can will them away.

“Ask me to assist, and I puncture the balloons of dark illusions. Even if you’ve managed to manifest a worst-case scenario, call upon me to heal and guide you. All thought-forms are on a level playing field, and no matter how dire the appearance, they’re all equally surmountable. I plow through them all quite easily with my unwavering faith in ‘all good, all love.’ That’s the only power that exists. The rest are all unreal illusions. Let them go and know the truth of all situations: God and love always prevail.”

Helps with:
* Abundance
* Artistic projects
* Household peace and harmony
* Obstacles, removing and avoiding
* Wisdom issues
* Writing

Invocation

If you are unfamiliar with how Ganesh looks, find a picture of him in a book or on the Internet. Once you’re familiar with his visage, it’s easy to call upon him by visualizing him in your mind and saying:

“Beloved Ganesh, thank you for smoothing my path today, with harmony and peacefulness reigning supreme. I appreciate your walking before me, clearing all obstructions that could impede my progress. Help me see the blessings within everything today. Thank you.”

I realize now that I've met him in at least one dream. I had never heard of him, or at least didn't have conscious recall even though I had surely seen Ganesh statues at some point.

Even though I didn't know who he was, the meaning of the dream was as you described. I figured out that it had to do with removing obstacles. I was traveling on an unknown road with my son. There was snow for awhile. Then we came to a stone stairway, curving down a hill. Ganesh was sitting right in the middle of the stairs. But there was a woman there dressed in Hindu traditional garments, and she led him up and off the stairs so we could pass. He kept watching us though. (edit) Now I recall that there was something about Gold in that dream. It was years ago, but I still remember it vividly. Dream recall is such a strange agent. The Gold... Ganesh gave me gold? Something that's just not clear right now.

I am now in the market for a Ganesh medallion! This one really speaks to me, and is something I sorely need in my life of obstacles.

2. Yep, that's Ganesha
He's very easygoing and happy, always--makes you feel better instantly as he shares his energy that you can overcome any problems you wish. (Or, rather, that problems aren't really problems at all.)

My friend gave me a tiny Ganesha figurine, and when I was still at my full-time miserable job, I put him on my desk in the center of a mandala made with moonstones and pennies (copper for conductivity). Seeing him there always made me feel better.

Definitely check in with Ganesha anytime you need him. He works wonders! :hi:

3. Ganesha is also the God of new beginnings.
I have images and statues of Ganesha in my home and at work. His energy feels like pure love to me. I always feel safe when I focus on him. I can't say much about his coloring.

Just for fun, here are a couple of images, in case anyone is interested.

Here's a little statue that I have. Ganesha himself is about 2 inches tall here:

Here's a watercolor print of him that I adore: (Depending on your PC, it may not be very detailed -- on my laptop it's not, but it's great for me energetically to look at it.)

6. I think that's wonderful...
Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention.
You are often instrumental in bringing me new pieces that just click into place :D

You can see my post above about my dream. What happened just now, I was browsing Dover's posted links here >
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x75035

and come up with Kapha body/Vata mind. I've read quite a few of his books, and took the test in one of them about 10 years ago. I always remember that Chopra wrote that the most important thing about meal preparation is infusing it with love energy. That comes with blessing and preparing food with love intention. I love that practice!

ANYWAY, LOOK what is listed in the section to balance Kapha body >

I am still processing that happened as brief as the encounter was. I have felt Ganesha near me since and was given another briefer vision. He said 'My hand is upon you' and I received the image of an huge elephant's foot the color of old ivory that was just barely touching my the crown of my head :) I was able to go to a new age store and find an adorable little statue of Ganesha that is on the desk in front of me now :) The store had several statues but I immediately grabbed this one saying awwwww!!!! like I do over any baby human or fourfooted and covered if fur, and could not put it down.

Ganesha emanates such sweetness, such loving kindness. He feels powerful, as if he is holding back so as to not intimadate me, and at the same time feels like a little boy ready to get into some minor mischief.

Thank you all so very very very very much again! There are few people in my non-cyber life that I can discuss things like this without them wanting to send for the men in their clean white coats and haul me off to the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time.

Yes, one must be careful, especially online, where things live on forever (unless edited) ;)

I love that the way this "culture" handles those who do not fit into it's insane, materialist, fear-based strictures, is with even more insanity: force and infantalization. Then again, this "culture" attacks the truth most fervently, citing it's extreme lack of participation in such.

Lucky they don't read Karen Bishop's work. She talks openly of having been present and active in the contruction of planets and solar systems. Whatever would the PTB do if this were to be widely known as true? And is the truth sneaking up on us right now, to a point where it will become unavoidable?

12. Ganesha is in Queens, NY
Here's a link to an article in the NY Daily News about a plant that looks remarkably like Ganesha. There are many Indian immigrants in Queens and they saw the resemblance. There's a photo of the plant -- it really is a fascinating resemblance.

13. Ganesha is the remover of obstacles.
According to Hindu mythology, he is one of the three main demigods, along with Brahma and Shiva. (Vishnu is not a demigod but rather an expansion of Bhagavan (god) himself).

He is the scribe of the demigods, when Vyasadeva split the Vedas into four and wrote the Srimad-Bhagavatam, Ganeshji helped him by writing down Vyasadeva's dictation.

He rides around on a rat. Don't laugh. :P

Hindus pray and make offerings to him so that he may help them with problems in their lives. He is revered and beloved.

16. His vehicle is the rat.
Each god or goddess has a vehicle, or animal that they ride or are associated with.
