John McCain, 8/29/36, 9:00am, Cocosolo, Panama
Republican US Senator from Arizona and presidential candidate.
Last month, we had a lot of questions about Obama’s chart, this month we have none... same ole, same ole. We KNOW what to expect. He’ll keep the wheels of the Machine rolling.
Sun in Virgo - hard worker, conservative Moon in Capricorn - disciplined, “controlled” Pluto opposite Moon - aligns himself with power Mars/Pluto in Leo in 10th - certainly can rule Venus in Virgo opposite Saturn; I said, Venus in Virgo opposite Saturn - enough said.
Until You Walk a Mile in Someone’s Shoes…
You wouldn’t believe the charts that some people live with. We all need to be a little more tolerant of those around us. Many, many people have charts with extremely difficult challenges in them. You can sense this when you are with people. We say things like, “I don’t know what makes him tick” or “I can’t figure out why she can’t see this”, etc. Until you can realize the powerfully complex inner-workings of another, it behooves all of us if we can just give each other a break. Or two.
Some people are just so sensitive; some so repressed, some don’t have clear minds or emotional opportunity. Many seem to have karmic patterns that are just so self-sabotaging. You can’t tell from the surface - you just can’t.
It’s time to teach good, sound astrology from grades 1-12 and beyond.
What Does Your Rising Sign Do for You?
The rising sign or ascendant is the zodiacal sign that is “rising” over the Eastern horizon at birth. It changes every 2 hours and can be any sign. Due to the earth’s rotation each signs rises every day. The rising is much underrated. It represents your outlook on life as well as how you are seen by others. It often affects your physical appearance also. I find that it is much more of your personality than you might realize. This is why some people seem light at first (ascendant), only to reveal themselves as very intense once you get to know them (Sun sign) - and vice versa. Esoteric astrologers place it as the main force in the chart, with the Sun sign second.
You Know What You Want To Do
So many times people tell me, “I just don’t know what I want to do.” I usually tell them that I don’t believe them. What I often find is that they really mean: “I don’t know how to get to where I want to be.” Or “I don’t see how it is possible for me to change jobs and still have health insurance.” The simple answer:
I usually ask the client, “Imagine a blank blackboard… write on there anything you want… draw any picture, draw any conclusion…. No limits.” Then, almost always and instantly, they know exactly what they WANT to do. We don’t let ourselves dream enough - I find. I am in the game of “giving permission.” I don’t know who gave me the power - no one did, but many do.
“Is This a Good Time To….?”
Almost always when someone asks me, “Is this a good time to do this?” or “Is this a good time to do that?,” I say yes. Why? - because we are very timid creatures. We are afraid. We are taught to be very careful and cautious. That’s why - if questions such as these make their way up through our “natural” censors and sentries, we’re usually feeling very strongly about doing something, YES, do it! On the other hand, about the only times I discourage someone or tell them, no, I don’t think so, are under a few conditions. If Neptune is strongly aspecting their chart I look to see if they are trying to escape. If Saturn is prominent, I check to see if they are bailing from responsibility. If Uranus, I look closely to see if they are attempting true liberation as opposed to avoiding the heat.
So you can see it’s really pretty simple: Astrology is dynamic timetable of our responsibilities, either to ourselves or to others. If we are acting in accord - fine, all systems go. If we aren’t, we need to rethink our decisions.
Do Unto Yourself Before You Become Undone
That is clearly the main theme of all the planets in astrology.
Meaning? Planetary transits are symbolic of changes that SHOULD be taking place within us. When we are in sync with ourselves, we feel urges - we act on them - and we hopefully get the desired results. For instance, when Pluto is transiting over our Mars (our masculine side,) we are urged to become more assertive. If we feel this and act on it, we become stronger and hopefully not too aggressive. If we don’t, then we’re in trouble. It means that we are out of touch with our testosterone and probably have rules against asserting ourselves. Did we get smashed down every time we expressed ourselves during our childhood (or past life)? Did we have a role model who was too timid OR too aggressive. Pluto over Mars is our opportunity to regain or develop proper assertive traits. If we don’t, then it is done unto us. People will get in our face or much worse.
Your Impulses Are the Planets
You wouldn’t believe some of the looks on the faces of my clients at certain times. We’re all conditioned to think that “our” ideas and impulses are “ours.” When I consistently show them how the planets (symbolic of inner urges) mirror how they are thinking, they are amazed. I really don’t know how it works, but I can assure you that the planets, signs, and houses accurately reflect the types of inspirations we’re having. “I feel like changing jobs.” “I feel like settling down with someone.” “I would like a bigger or smaller house.” “If only my boss would get off of my back.” Etc., etc. “What’s gotten into you lately?” “I don’t know what came over me last night.” Hmm…
Saturn Not Himself in Virgo
Honestly, I DO write about other planet besides Saturn. But something did come to mind recently. Usually when Saturn transits to the top of one’s chart it is very favorable; they receive kudos, promotions, and in general their life culminates to a nice peak that has been long sought. Also, most people around age 59 are encountering their second Saturn return. This is usually a time of graduating from having paid one’s dues.
The exception is now that wonderful Saturn is in the glorious sign of Virgo - the work horse. So, I am finding consistently that even though Saturn itself is in a favorable position, it is still in Virgo. And Virgo doesn’t like self-attention and doesn’t know how to relax. More likely, it adds to one’s job-jar and impels us to work even harder. It’s really OK though - hard work via the Sarge, Virgo, always pays off. Do take time to enjoy life however. And remember, Saturn will be in Libra next and I assure you it will be very different then.
*** Keeping with Virgo, Saturn in Virgo since 9/2/07, has been amazing. So many of my friends and clients now find themselves in apprenticeship situations. It came to me intuitively and clearly lately. For the next year and a half, till Saturn leaves Virgo, we ALL need to apprentice with someone AND apprentice someone younger.
Astrology Does Tell Us What Will Happen, Kinda.
Many misconceptions abound concerning astrology. You won’t get your life direction in Cosmopolitan Magazine’s “Bedside Astrologer” - I assure you. I NEVER expect anyone to believe in astrology. Why would they? You have to prove it to yourself. That’s what I did in 1978 - and I haven‘t stopped..
I’m always on the lookout for better analogies to use to give others examples of this complex science. One of my favorites is this: Metaphorically, a client wants to go to Hawaii. They ask me, “How can I get there?,” or more commonly, “Am I going to get there?” I don’t know. I have no idea.
Symbolically, the client is in a boat. Tomorrow the wind is blowing towards the North Pole - they’re NOT going to get to Hawaii tomorrow. However, the next day the wind IS blowing exactly towards Hawaii. The odds are good, the potential is there, all the natural forces are lined up propitiously. But can they navigate? Are they too afraid to raise their sails?
A Course In Miracles
I’m sure many of you have heard about the, “A Course in Miracles.” Allegedly, it is a complete spiritual course of study that was channeled through Dr. Helen Shucman, a psychologist at Columbia University. According to her, its source was none other than Jesus Christ Himself. Luckily, I found the date that the transcription started - the date she started to receive information that was captured by her and fellow psychologist, William Thetford. That date was October 21, 1965. They steadfastly channeled the 3-volume set of instructions until the mid-seventies.
What interested me was: What did the planets look like on that day? Amazing indeed… Saturn and Uranus in Pisces (divinely inspired) opposite Moon/Uranus/Pluto in Virgo (service), all making a T-square to Venus/Mars in Sag (religion, spirituality, tell the world.) And Mercury was along side of Neptune (channelled from a deep source) in Scorpio. This doesn’t “prove” the Course’s validity, but in my mind, gives it great credence.
Come Up for Air, Will Ya?
Recently I was at an event where a woman sitting near me talked non-stop for hours. After a while, I asked her what her birthday was just so that I could get a sense of what planets in her chart symbolized this endless narration. Surely, I would see a plethora of Leo or Gemini or Sagittarian planets. Such was NOT the case which amazed me. But what I did find really surprised me. SATURN was right at the very top of the chart. Well, the books say Saturnian people are quite taciturn, right? In this case, she could not let the moment simply be. She had to control (Saturn) all possible pregnant pauses and fill them up with “safe” talk-putty. Very interesting astrological anomaly.
