Pondering the election, and the law of attraction:
Let me blunt. This election left me behind last January. I have had no enthusiasm, no commitment, no real interest, since HRC and Obama, both too corporate/centrist/dlc/3rd way/"new" dem for me, were the only two left standing.

While I recognized early on Obama's charismatic presence and excellent speaking skills, his politics left, and leave, me cold.

Frankly, I have been revolted by the tendency for many to present him as the political messiah that we've all been waiting for.

Still, I was glad he won Tuesday, so I wouldn't have to live through a McCain/Palin administration. I shed a few tears of relief, and true joy that we have elected a person of color to the white house. But I wasn't euphoric or hopeful about what an Obama administration would offer. I've read his positions.

Wanting to give him a chance, and to start off on the right foot, I sent him a congratulatory note, and a book, Tuesday morning, before the first election day votes were cast.

I read the recent Matthew message; the one that said,

<snip>

As for Obama's supporting the “economic bailout,” it is incumbent upon him to maintain the appearance of being in agreement with the Illuminati faction members who thrust him from relative obscurity into the presidential candidacy; once in office, his actions will show where his heart and soul truly are, and that is not with perpetuating the corruption and deception that some feel he is aligned with. To those who cannot see the light in Obama, we say, “Be patient; you will.”

http://www.matthewbooks.com/mm/anmviewer.asp?a=93&z=2

I hoped he was right.

Then, Obama's first act as president elect was to appoint DLCer Rahm "there is no democratic base" Emmanuel as chief of staff. Not exactly a moment filled with light. More patience is obviously needed.

Over the course of the week, through today, though, I noticed something incredible. Everywhere I've gone, people are expressing joy. They really are filled with hope, and believe that change is coming.

I began to wonder: will the law of attraction work in favor of the light, despite what Obama may do or not do? Will just the "faith" of those looking for change attract that positive change? Is Obama's most important contribution not that of policy, but that of inspiration?

Can he maintain that ability to inspire, to lift up a nation, despite policy that is not fundamentally different than that of mainstreet dem powerbrokers?

Will the nation move forward in the light in spite of his policies?

I don't know. He has said or done nothing to earn my support for his policies, but if the incredible mass of people emitting joy, hope, and faith that change is coming means anything, we will experience change despite him, and at that, hope long dead begins to stir within my heart and soul, as well.

Is Matthew right, that so far it is incumbent upon him to maintain the appearance of being in agreement with the Illuminati faction members who thrust him from relative obscurity into the presidential candidacy?

It seems to me that his supporters have believed this all along.

I don't know, but it feels good to hope. So, while I continue speaking out in opposition to acts and policies that I think move us in the wrong direction, part of me is stirring, and hoping, that by next spring I WILL see him embody the change I've yearned for.

our president and vice-president-elect. That's something (feeling the change) that has helped me deal with my intense feelings of unhappiness about the current political and social climate on the left, which I simply can't view as entirely positive. I'll be honest, though, and admit that I still feel a gigantic ton of darkness is ahead for us, yes, even the enlightened. I can't understand those who continue to say they don't feel this, too. I hope that they will not be devastated by the challenges that are also coming, in addition to the joys.

2. You make a good point.
I, too, have wondered what will happen when the euphoria fades and we are faced with hard realities.

Will the inspiration, the hope, hold everyone together to weather the hard times, or will inspiration and hope evaporate, leaving disillusionment in its wake?

3. As far as Emmanuel is concerned, his job is to get the President's
policies done. He won't be making policy. That will be up to Obama, whom I hope will consult with very wise advisors before he does so. I too am apprehensive of the DLCers getting the first positions in the administration and I hope Obama's promise to have people from different political ideologies in his administration to argue with him includes some progressive liberals like Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders to do so. If he doesn't and only has DLC Democrats and some moderate Republicans, I don't think the change we need will happen.

I for one am keeping in my mind on a daily basis the things he needs to accomplish. We need intelligent and common sense solutions, not baroque pandering to everyone that will accomplish practically nothing. So I hope everyone will want to employ the laws of attraction to pull him in the direction our nation and our world needs to head in if we are ever going to have a planet of peace and prosperity for all species, not just ours.

4. I can join you in that:
"keeping in my mind on a daily basis the things he needs to accomplish. We need intelligent and common sense solutions."

If his mantra rings true, he will include progressive liberals, the left wing of the Democratic Party, and the left wing of the nation, at his table.

Along with the rest of the nation. That's step # 1 to accomplish, now, as the president-elect, before he is sworn into office.

5. I appreciate your candor ...
... because the road ahead will be anything *but* smooth. We all know that, on one level of consciousness or another. It's nice to bask in the "WE DID IT!!!" energy for a while because this shift was huge. I am still surprised we made it, honestly.

I was very late on the Obama train (spent too much time reading David Icke and got cynical about all of government) but support his efforts to move with us to this next level. Time will tell how it plays out and we all have to be working toward it in whatever way we are given to do. That's one of the things I really like about being a participant on this forum. We are awakened to the bigger picture and that we can contribute in some way - be it prayer, good thoughts, a kind word or picketing in the street.

Shining light on the things that puzzle us or scare us is the only way we are going to move forward, so I appreciate your post and the thoughts of others on here.

Peace.

10. I think that's what I'm noticing:
the shift, riding on overwhelmingly positive energy, regardless of the direction the wind it's riding on is going.

Perhaps there is enough atmospheric pressure out here to direct that win. ;)

6. I bet I disagree with a lot of what he does
I think it just goes with the territory.

Style and inspiration are important qualities in a president, and he gets an A+ there. He also gets an A+ for intelligence. He gets an A+ for effectiveness in running a campaign. So, those are the good things. I think he cares about people--at least he gives that impression.

As for policy, I would say he gets an Incomplete.

But I expect that his ideas are somewhat different from mine. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since I am pretty sure I am not 100% right.

He has inherited a nightmarish situation. As for the Illuminati stuff, he would probably say that he is going to be president for EVERYONE, and that obviously includes a few Illuminati types, LOL.

7. After watching 60 Minutes, I kinda feel even more at ease
60 Minutes started off their program with the 4 main staff members David Axelrod, David Plouffe, Robert Gibbs and another person I can't remember her name right off hand. They mentioned how Barack wanted to be the one who ran his campaign. That he was the one who chose what his campaign would be about, instead of having "handlers" telling him how to do it.

Right away that told me that Barack IS a leader, not someone who has to be told what to do.

I believe Barack will still hold true to his ideas and NOT be influenced by the DLCers. Obama has NEVER been a DLCer. He forced them to remove his name from their list of members. That is another point of light in his favor. Rahm works for Obama, not the other way around. Rahm will be taking orders from Obama to make sure Obama's agenda gets pushed through. While I'm not a fan of Rahm, from what I've heard about him ( besides his DLC connections ) he is a tough guy to deal with, so perhaps this will be a positive for our team.

Barack has a huge mess to deal with from everything that Mad king Boy George has done to our country and our standing in the world. Barack knows this and has been working behind the scenes for months figuring out how to deal with these issues.

I have been sending Barack positive energy, a protection bubble for his safety, and as much love as I can. He needs us all to help him deal with this crisis that is effecting everything. As he has said at all his rallies, "This election isn't about me, this election is about YOU." or "Change doesn't come from the top down, it comes from the bottom up."

Perhaps if you think about where Barack came from, a poor family, working his way through college, and instead of going to a large corporate law firm, he chose to work for the less fortunate people. He decided that helping the poor was a better path than making large sums of money. This speaks volumes to me.

8. We all have work to do, in the years ahead. But I believe Obama buys us breathing room,
and some space in which to move.

"The street" must stay vital. And we must inform the corridors of power as much as they seek to inform us.

In other words, of course Obama won't "save" us. But damn, this victory sure makes the air easier to breath.

9. I, too, breathe easier.
At least for now.

I will hope that the hope of the people, the "street" that elected him, proves viable.

I'll also be holding him accountable for those hopes. ;)

11. I don't think this will be easy either
Edited on Mon Nov-10-08 08:06 AM by OhioBlues
I think we're on a hard road and it will most likely end with many jobs lost and some tough financial times. I do think that Obama will keep hs word to the best of his ability, we'll see if the dark side takes back any control or if our leaders can keep their eye on the ball and help the planet and it's inhabitants.

I feel we are in for strange times, times that have not been experienced before but I don't get fear from them. I think the pull out of Iraq will definitely free up some money and with Halliburton out of there we won't be paying the exorbitant fees they have stolen from us.

I have no hard feelings about Obama or Emmanuel at this point and I do feel that Obama has opened the door for us to see exactly what is happening in many sectors of the government. I think communication is now open and that the American people are the ones with the huge opportunity to change. He may lead us but it's up to us to do our own work and that includes keeping him informed of our wishes.

That's my take on it, I do not believe that anything is set in stone, I know how weasels can take hold of institutions and drag the process into places we'd never have chosen. I know how people can be but I do have hope and I'm willing to take that chance on Obama especially now.

12. I think there are several factors at work here
First, we have to bear in mind that we here at DU are far-left progressives. We expect no less than radical, 180-degree type change, and we want it RIGHT NOW. However, we have to bear in mind that that's not how Washington works. Obama has to pull in moderates and Republicans in order to effect lasting change--plus, that kind of change takes time. Personally, I was happy to hear about all the plans he announced at the end of last week. I think he's heading in the right direction.

Second, we also have been the equivalent of politically/citizenry abused spouses the past eight years. We trust no one in government, and we have learned to expect to be screwed over, denied, and punched in the head at every turn. Therefore, we're jumpy as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, as we expect anyone in government--even those on our side--to disappoint us. We have to get over that.

Just IMO, but I think the best way to calm our own worries and help bring about the change we want is to do what JFK said--ask what we can do for our country...and Obama. We have to send positive energy to support our new president and his administration, but we also have to get involved, get active in this dimension. Once we feel a part of this new era, I think we'll all feel better about it.

And finally, and most important:

14. What would work for me is getting the criminal element out of
government to begin with. That means all the Machiavellian, lying, ends justifies the means operatives. Then I think Obama has a chance even starting from the middle ground. Of course once you don't govern from a position of greed and every man for himself, I got mine so the hell with you, then you will see a pull to the progressive side of government by the people for the people. It's a natural progression.

17. I was looking around for fellow Law of Attraction folks--your quote gave me chills
the GOOD kind of chills...

"To those who cannot see the light in Obama, we say, “Be patient; you will.” "

I've wondered, what is up with people who don't SEE the light in Obama? My hunny, for example, doesn't see it. He's turned off to politics and doesn't support either party, has alot of anger, but he seems to be more willing to listen to his fundy, rw, Faux Spews lovin' brother rather than to look at what's actually GOOD.

Anyway, to me, it's SO bright...I just get the biggest smile, I feel inspired by Obama, and that thrilled hopeful feeling is supported by tangibles, such as his high intelligence, track record of working for community, his visibly loving family relationships....

Anyway, thanks for the Matthew link; I'll check that. Hadn't heard of Matthew before.
Abraham has said that whichever group pushes against the least will win the election--and now that it's Dec, we see who won. Obama's campaign stayed focused on hope, brightness, GOOD....

I truly feel that Obama IS being very wise in maintaining the appearance of "being in agreement with the Illuminati faction members" --in other words, playing the politics game. But again, I really feel the truth and joy in the quote once in office, his actions will show where his heart and soul truly are, and that is NOT with perpetuating the corruption and deception that some feel he is aligned with. To those who cannot see the light in Obama, we say, “Be patient; you will.”
