SMILE! for no good reason
I've been reading a wonderful book called "SMILE for no good reason" by Dr. Lee Jampolsky, whose father wrote "Love is Letting Go of Fear."

I was inspired to write a song called SMILE! and made a video of it with smiling people, animals, plants, etc. I hope it makes someone smile!

:D Thanks for posting it here.

You have very kind eyes, scotto.

4. Great! That's the idea!
If my eyes look kind, it might be because they've been softened by so many tears in the last few months. Funny how emotional turmoil can result in a song that's so optimistic and "up with people." The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Anyway, I'm smiling a lot more these days, especially when I receive kind comments such as these.

5. I'm sorry that you had reason to suffer so much recently, Scott.
I hope that you're smiling more because things are getting better for you.

7. Nothing that we all don't go through at some point in life
And thank you. Things are getting much better. With many lessons learned.

6. very nice
I love looking at original stuff like this on You Tube.

Say, did you know that smiling stimulates a lot of acupuncture points in the face? So, there is a good energetic reason to do it.

8. It's hard competing with "elephant burp" on youtube with a mere music video
But I've been heartened by the number of views and the (mostly) kind comments I get from people. It keeps me doing it, at much personal time and expense, but it keeps me smiling!

And yes, I heard about the acupuncture points stimulated by smiling. A friend sent me this article called "The Science of Smiling," which is also interesting, particularly in their observations that blind people have the same facial expressions as everyone, so it's obviously not a learned behaviour. It's a good read, with lots of links:

9. On YouTube you get the good, the bad, and the ugly
The music is the best~

For the more famous version of Smile, all you have to do is turn to YouTube, for instance

Naturally I was reminded of that classic after I viewed yours.

However, I like your upbeat tempo. Can't you use this as a promotion for either your performances, or for putting videos together?

Also, I do hear of people who have such a following on YouTube that they actually make money from it--like from ads or something (????) I'm not even sure how that works! I think it's the comedy teenagers or something, though.

10. Yes, that's a beautiful song -- indeed a classic!
Nat King Cole -- what a voice!

I'm sure that in the copywright office there are a hundred songs with the title Smile. It's certainly not a new idea.

I did play music for a living for many years, but I find that I enjoy it more if I don't depend on it for my livelihood. I'm sure there are ways to make money on YouTube, but it's hard enough just to get people to listen for free! But if an opportunity did open up, I'm sure I'd check it out!
