Do any of you who switched to organic food in recent years ever worry...
Edited on Wed Jan-28-09 03:57 PM by BlueIris
...about all the toxic crap you put in your body before you converted to a natural/organic life?

I do. Sometimes, I have flashbacks to the piles and piles of commercial candy products, especially soda, that I inhaled by the truckload all the way through high school. I shudder to think of how much Diet Coke I consumed during those years. And fear that no matter how much my healthy, low-risk lifestyle of the last eleven years has benefited me, the damage is done.

1. Oh, yes... especially Nutrasweet.
I used it on everything. I would drink 6 diet soft drinks a day, 3 or 4 cups hot drinks sweetened with 2 packs each, use it on my cereal, and on my fruit. I remember dunking whole strawberries into a bowl of Nutrasweet, and the berries being totally white when I ate them.

If anyone should do a cleanse, it's probably me...

:scared:

2. You're entire body regenerates
every seven years. Cells turn over faster than that and some organs don't take that long to completely renew cells. I don't eat as healthy now as I did beginning in my early 20's, and through young adulthood when I was cooking for my family. But, I am convinced without a doubt that all those years of eating right have paid bonuses over and over in reasonably good health, stamina and longevity.

Please don't worry. Worry does damage to cells too, ya know.

6. Not enough to count.
There were some iciclettes hanging off Jacob's playhouse this morning, just enough for him to poke a mitten at, but not enough accumulation to keep people home.

4. I think about it, but I don't worry exactly
Not much I can do about it and all that. I still eat candy occasionally, and gods help me I can't resist a can of Coke once or twice a week, no matter that I know how bad HFCS is for me. I agree with VSM that our bodies regenerate, plus they flush certain toxins more regularly, and that gives me more comfort. I figure if I'm going to contract some serious illness, it's because I planned it as a life experience, so it's gonna happen no matter what.

8. Not worry but wish I hadn't done it
I keep learning more about the effects of food on our health. I've been learning a lot about Chinese medicine and food. My diet, though good by American standards, was not so good under Chinese medicine. I'm changing my diet and feel better, slowly but surely.

9. Oh dear, let's not GO there!
I am not even as close to 00% prganic that I'd like to be, but I at least try to do the 5 servings of fruits/veg a day, that's hard when depressed and not wanting to cook, I have done WAY too much "easy food" as of late...

Ate mostly macrobiotic and orgnic for my late 20s, then went back on red meat and that really screwed me up.

my biggest vice? chocolate, not the healthy dark organic kind, but the commercial candy bar kind! (Snickers, Baby ruth, etc)

But hey, I DID just go to the store & stock up on organic cereal for the kids and more veggies and fruits than we've had in a long time - SMOOTHIES for breakfast!!!! yum!

10. My mother never put one organic thing in her mouth.
She lived to be just shy of 93.

I imagine our systems clean out after a while anyway, but I just wouldn't think about it if I were you. :)

12. The flashbacks
Are you just your attempt at clearing all this stuff out. When they come just try some EFT and start tapping.....

"Even though I ate a bunch of crap all the way through high school, I now nourish my body correctly, and I wholly and completely accept myself, and my cells which are regenerating."

13. How many spots do you tap?
Do you have any images/charts of tapping points? I've seen lots of points used and one method that used only three.

14. I don't actually do it
I have a DVD that I looked at.

I would say make sure you do the top of the head. I liked to do between my nose and lips.

Under the collarbone is key, as are the wrists.

Doesn't www.emofree.com have them?

15. I'm sure it does.

You don't tap? The condensed version was forehead, upper lip, and thymus area (collarbone). See, I think emofree may make it way more complicated than needed. There may be like 20 tap points or some such.

edit: maybe the chin was included in the condensed version. I saw that demonstration about two or three years ago.

17. Meant to say I USED to do it
I just haven't felt the need lately. If I had a recurring dream or fear I would try it. It works okay.

Those were just points I would make SURE to include.

But really easier is to get someone else to help. I have one of those cheap percussors that stimulate points on each side of the spine. So, I get hubby or someone to use that on me instead of doing all that tapping.

The idea is just to stimulate acupressure points on all the meridians while being exposed to a stressor, so the percussor works pretty great, too.

16. Life works in mysterious ways..

A friend of mine who is an organic grower is fighting for her life due to cancer. She is one
of those people that is VERY conscientious about a healthy diet.
And then I see people much older than her who frequently eat canned and processed or fast foods who seem to be going strong into their 90's.

I saw a somewhat obscure Australian film a few years back (can't recall the name),
about an accomplished veteran news reporter who, while in his prime, learned he had cancer.
There was a brilliant scene that ran at a dizzying warp speed as it flashed back to all the moments in his life from childhood forward that were potentially THE 'thing' that was responsible for his illness (toxic foods, environmental factors, bad habits, etc.). It can drive a person crazy!
And the rest of the film is how he chose to meet his situation and whether or not to embrace what
he assumed was the curtain call for his life. Little did he know his 'life' had only really
just begun.

As for myself, I eat about 50-60% organic (the things I eat most like eggs, milk, bread, fruit and veggies), and don't sweat the rest too much, though I do avoid processed foods, soft drinks, and artificial sweetners. And I try to listen to what my body needs and respond happily rather than the way I used to do it, like it was a chore.

I think the more we are able to let go of fear (most of which seems at its core to be related to a fear of dying) and embrace life, the healthier and happier and more balanced we become. The mind is a powerful thing, and if we see life as 'toxic' or something to fear, then so it will be.

18. AMEN!
Every time I get in the "I am bad because I ate this or drank that..." my mentor reminds me that its all in the perception.
she points out that french people can eat tons of carbs and still not get obese like we do, why? not just because they use olive iol and fresh vegies, but because their perceptions are that what they are eating is healthy for them...

and every now & then, red vines & cheese puffs are a necessity!

24. I stopped calling that 'bad food' and now call it 'fun food.'
I was beating myself up all the time over having mac n cheese with the kids, or a snickers bar, or chips or something. Oh, the guilt! I decided I LIKE those foods, so I changed my perception of them. Now I can eat that stuff with no guilt, and that makes me eat it in moderation.

19. BI, every cell in you body
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 11:38 AM by rumpel
It takes 7 years, but every cell in your body will be new. Your body is constantly generating new cells.

I believe, all you have to envision is, as you continue to take care of your body, that the wholesome foods etc. is directed at and is fully utilized by your every cell.

Negative thoughts are also toxic to your body, perhaps more so.

I think you already have changed the direction of any potential damage.

:hi:

and now see, duh, it has already been said...

Our body mind spirit is a wonderful system, just re-member.

25. my food affirmations - everything I consume perfects my health
Everything I eat & drink heals my body

My body Knows/desires the exact foods that serve it best

My body craves/knows the exact amount of foods that serve it best

I gracefully release all that does not serve (including toxins and fear of them. caution is good, fear is unnecessary)

If anyone finds these useful please use and adapt to suit your needs.
