Poll question: Just for fun, Pick your favorite astrological planet
and tell us briefly why it is so? (sorry, no room for Chiron, and yes, I consider Pluto still a planet)

2. Uranus
because of its eccentricity. In the Dances of Universal Peace retreats, we have done walks for the different planets (and even "walked" someone's natal chart, keeping the planets in their aspects as we did the walks--very interesting), and Uranus was a focus sort of spacey (though I liked the Neptune walk, which concentrated on the third eye as well).

3. Neptune.
He's watery, mystical, nebulous. Uranus runs a close second - it's in my first house natally, but relocated to my fifth where I live now. I still feel a close connection with being "unusual".

6. Pluto
Goes straight into the heart of darkness revealing why things are screwed up so you actually have a shot at fixing it. While rarely a fun process it is much better than wandering around wailing and gnashing teeth asking WHY????? fruitlessly.

2nd has to be Uranus probably because I am Aquarian :)

For some reason I never liked Neptune

Even stubborn sorts like me get it and can't take feeling like something my cat hacked up and start taking care of ourselves. Tho I am still working on drinking enough plain water instead of teas. My last indulgence is black tea albeit 1/4 the strength the tea box recommends.

32. Until Aquarius finally learns...
that carrying the SELF or EGO around with it, or even defending it IS the problem. It is only with, finally, the Pisces lesson finally arrives in stage 12 that we must let go of OUR STORY because it is simply an illusion that we are truly free - the ultimate goal of Aquarius. The Aquarian myth, IMHO, is that our individual freedom is what matters. Not. As long as we are individuals, we are separate. Easy to say - hard to do.

Ignore your Pisces control-freak, I can guarantee his/her Sun is Pisces is not where that is coming from.

Best of luck

If not, you can create it yourself on astro.com, or I'd be happy to create it for you and PM it to you if you PM me your birth date, time and location.

(I will also be providing the Waterpik nasal irrigation tip information. I'm away from home right now, but I have a note to myself to send you that when I get back.)

By the way, I hope that you're feeling better after your cold and other recent health issues.

My cold is mostly gone now, just down to a chest cough. My other health issues manifested a colonoscopy for me in a few weeks, though
I'll have a neighbor take me and drive me home since they say the drugs given will make me unable to do such a thing on my own.

Thanks for the concern and I may be running fluid through my nose in no time! :P

I'm curious. I was so SOLD on Jupiter in 1983 that I got married on purpose with Jupiter EXACTLY on the Midheaven. What a huge mistake that was. Not that she wasn't/isn't a great woman, but the wastefulness of Jupiter got out of hand.

A fun planet, for sure. Tell me why?

25. Uh...it's the one I've had the fewest problems with--despite the fact that I know
it has it's darkside. People forget that Sagittarius can be the warrior, even the mercenary, and many folks with elevated Jupiters can have pronounced narcissistic tendencies. Still, I admire the positive qualities of Jupiter so much--it's philisophical power, it's optimism, it's capacity to enlighten. Jupiter--expanding everything it touches.

40. I do not presume to know much about astrology
but I will read some things on it if the overall subject matter is one I am interested in, such as Chiron. So, I'm not seeing as how Chiron is a "challenge" for us as much as it is an "enabling" influence :)

The following three paragraphs seem to illustrate my take on Chiron as I understand its influence (so far) :

http://www.halexandria.org/dward326.htm

For astrologers, however, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Chiron has more than a passing significance. Unlike it’s sister minor planets (such as Ceres, Vesta, Pallas Athena, and the like, who are still hanging around the old neighborhood of the asteroid belt), Chiron is attracting a great deal of attention (and with good reason). Chiron may, in fact, turn out to be as important astrologically as some of the major planets! Admittedly, this is a pretty strong statement. But consider some of the interesting and unique aspects of this planet which has only been within our consciousness for less than fifteen years.

At the moment of its discovery, Chiron was at 3° 11’ Taurus (in retrograde). The Sabian Symbol (1) for this location (i.e. Taurus 4°) is: “The Pot of Gold at the End of the Rainbow”, or according to Dane Rudhyar’s interpretation: “Riches that come from linking the celestial and the earthly nature.” That, at the very least, should grab your attention! For probably more than any other fact, this Sabian Symbol suggests the exciting potential of this minor planet orbiting at a distance from the Sun somewhere between Saturn and Uranus. It may eve be appropriate to interpret Mr. Rudhyar’s interpretation literally. He goes on to say:

“In Genesis, the rainbow is the symbol of the Covenant of God with Noah. In all mythologies it expresses, in one way or another, a linking process -- or the bridge used by divine beings to communicate with mortals. What the linking process brings to the individual consciousness is elusive, as the rainbow never ends where you are, yet it is the source of symbolic, universally valid wealth. All wealth, in a very real sense, comes from ‘commerce’, i.e. from the commingling of minds and from contracts, and thus is based on faith in the validity of the promise.” “Man need not be overawed by the celestial display of power, for it leads to a fruitful contact with beings of light. This is a natural kind of COMMUNION, involving a transubstantiation of matter.” (1)

The quote about “Riches that come from linking the celestial and the earthly nature” also makes me think of some of the spiritual symbolism I've read about centaurs and I'm seeing a common thread in there. That is, that the horse portion represents the physical and the human portion represents the spiritual. That's rather simplistic, but it is the gist of the symbolism.

Now granted, I haven't finished this article, though I might sometime during the day. If the rest contradicts what I've said here, I'll ammend my post :)

30. Saturn is THE
Critical planet of all. He makes SURE things manifest. He is tough only because he doesn't fool around. In my opinion, he is the most prevalent planet of all in the charts of successful people. Why? Because he'll either tear you up from within or drive you on toward defeating your challenges. He IS reality.

36. That is a great description.
I used to fear Saturn, 'til I read Liz Greene's book on him. Then I began to want to honor him for the gifts he brings. NOT that I always do - as you saw, Neptune and Uranus were my top picks - and I will still sometimes cringe when I see Saturn is coming to bring me a message. But I no longer fear him.

24. Not brave, just weird I guess :)
Very positive things seem to happen to me with Saturn transits, even in hard aspects. Recently the Saturn end of the Saturn/Uranus opposition has been dancing back and forth across my natal Mercury, and I've been writing very productively on topics I haven't been able to write on before.

It's Jupiter that has my number. I'm lucky if I don't go broke at each significant Jupiter transit, regardless of its characteristics.

I do, actually, have a theory as to why I seem to be upside down as far as Saturn and Jupiter. I have an extremely intense chart (8/19/57 6:08A, Chi. IL). Not "excess", in and of itself. But throw a little expansiveness in there, and things certainly can tip that way (and with natal Jupiter in my second house, it's usually my finances that do the "tipping"). OTOH, add the discipline of Saturn, and I actually get something done.

31. Your Saturn is extremely strong
right across from your Moon in Gemini... therefore, you're used to its energy. This has nothing to do with your Leo Sun or anything about your Jupiter. Saturn DOES make us feel like "writing very productively on topics I haven't been able to write on before. "

That's exactlly it. Unfortunately, in ONLY has the reputation of being a slave-driver. When Saturn is there, we COMMONLY grow up and face difficulties and feel like tackling matters we just couldn't get up for heretofore. Righto. You're on track, I feel.

Jupiter is wonderful but must be watched out for a false sense of security. Look what Pluto did in Sag (Jupiter) from 1995-2008.
Credit card heaven.

35. I finally settled on my ruling planet, Mercury
Of course I :loveya: all the planets, and have been thinking about which one would be my favorite. And since no one here picked Mercury, I decided to stick by my RP.

Nature
We may not call him either masculine or feminine, for he is either the one or other as joined to any Planet; for if in conjunction with a masculine Planet, he becomes masculine; if with a feminine, then feminine, but of his own nature he is cold and dry, and therefore melancholy; with the good he is good, with the evil Planets ill.

This probably explains why I love men who are effeminate.

Elements
In the elements the water; amongst the humours, the mixed. He rules the animal spirit. He is author of subtlety, tricks, devices, perjury.

Quality of Men and Professions
He generally signifies all literary men, philosophers, mathematicians, astrologers, diviners, sculptors, poets, orators, messengers.

This would explain my nature to be creative; poetry, music composition, philosophy, and my other topics of self discovery.

Day of the Week
He governeth Wednesday, the first hour thereof, and the eighth. His friends are Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and his enemies all the other planets.

I was born on Wednesday, so perhaps this is another reason why I'm drawn to Mercury.

So, there you have it, I finally made my decision.

:hi:

38. Funny thing is
I'm now convinced that Virgo is no longer ruled by Mercury. (not to rain on your parade) I believe there are too many coincidences and Virgo is ruled by Chiron - the healer.

Just my opinion, I've have lots of watching and studying to do on it.

Perhaps Mercury is still co-ruler, just like I'm now convinced that Taurus is ruled by THE EARTH, and probably co-ruled by Venus.
