What are the most common and most effective methods of manifestation?
There are things in my life I want to achieve as well as things I want to rid myself of once and for all. How do I find out what works for me?

1. Good question
Trial and error, I think. You just have to try different methods to see which one resonates with you the most. Some people can manifest through plain old visualization, some with assisted visualization (using tools like making posters of what they want), some with affirmations. As a witch, sometimes I do a spell, because going through the motions and working with symbols and other tools helps me focus; lately, however, I've just been meditating.

Do you have any past experience with successful manifestation that you can draw on?

2. I've used visualization the most, but I find it extremely difficult at times
to filter out the negative thoughts in my head from the pressures of the day and get to my true desires. Since I like lists and writing things down to sort things out in my head and internalize them I suppose assisted visualization might be helpful. Affirmations simply do not reinforce any positive feelings in me. I find that it's impossible for me to view those statements as realistic or attainable at all.

5. I'm with you on the affirmations, Wapsie
For some reason they do NOT resonate with me--at times to the point of aversion. I mean, sometimes I get a visceral negative reaction to affirmations. I wonder why that is...

7. Aversion can mean you need to work on with that affirmation
Sometimes it is not the right affirmation for that person, others it is the right one and it is hitting an issue/blockage that needs dealing with.

Notice *where* you feel the aversion in your body. Notice what the aversion consists of. Fear, anger, disgust, something else or a combination of emotions? Breath light into the area(s) where you feel it and if it is not overwhelming allow yourself to feel the feeling unpleasant as it is. If you are drawn to a certain color or suddenly the color pops into your head breath that color of light into the area(s) until the emotional charge that the affirmation triggered or brought to consciousness is discharged. Try saying mentally or out loud the affirmation again and see if aversion is still there. If so breath into it some more until the charge is greatly reduced before saying it again. If you prefer more detail to the idea of breathing light into the area you can imagine the emotional charge as a blob of dark energy that the light dissolves, burns off, or some other way of transmuting that energy.

13. Oh, it's not a specific affirmation
It's the process of USING affirmations that doesn't resonate with me. I have the same aversion to nonfiction self-help books (in that case, it's their didacticism that bores me). But I'm okay without them, as there are so many other different paths to achieve the same goal. Different strokes and all that! :hi:

15. Oh OK!
I don't *love* using affirmations myself but do find them useful esp. in reprograming that gosh darned subconcious.

3. I do a lot of daydreaming.
I guess it's visualization. I go over and over what I want, perfecting the desire and really enjoying the process. I make sure not to start feeling the need to do so because of not having what I want or self-pity. I have to think about the desire with the pure knowledge that my life is already filled with abundance and go over my blessings with gratitude. That always makes me feel great. So I start manifestations feeling good and secure.

My sister creates vision boards that's done wonders for her practice. I don't have the patience. The process for her from start to finish is fun and then she has her lovely visions to see all the time. To me, her collages are really a work of art.

6. Daydreaming is big for me as well
I've always had an affinity for daydreaming (to the point that my elementary school report cards always had "daydreamer" in the criticism box!) and it's served me well when I want to build a manifestation a piece at a time, and then I visit it as often as I need to (yes, tweaking bits here and there all the time), which is comforting and helps manifest what I want. :hi:

11. Same here
but I've only been able to manifest centaurs and genies on paper! :P

Daydreaming has kept my imagination fresh but I'm not sure how well it's worked on manifestation. I will be starting the Abundance Book 40-day plan again, and this time really meditating on the principles. The first time I did it, my imagination was opened wide and my energy to write was almost limitless. If it can do that with a half-hearted attempt, I would think I could get a bit further with proper procedure this time around :)

8. well, I make diagrams using "Paint"
And sometimes I get some ideas from Google Images, and then I alter them to suit my taste.

And then I bought a simple computer radionics program off Ebay. I generally just use it for health related things, but a simple computer radionics program can be used for anything. Use diagrams and pictures, and let 'er rip.

It probably works best in baby steps. It might be a bit difficult to win the lottery overnight.

9. If you can stand to go to core issues
If a person feels unworthy of at least a minimally decent life with nice friends, job you at like w/decent pay, vehicle that isn't hunk of junk, etc. there are ways to self-sabotague big and small that will hinder progress. Or if the person still acheives then feels guilty and can't enjoy it. Extreme worst case examples are celebrities like Kurt Cobain :( Not in anyway saying you are anything like this, just giving obvious case for example. Self-Esteem is one of my issues that holds back progress in other areas so I bring it up to others in case it is their bugaboo as well.

Which ever technique it may be useful to start small to practice the manifestation muscles. For example I have been visulizing to get a nice sturdy table for my Grandmother to put her TV on. The current tv table is a spindly family heirloom that shouldn't have anything heavier than a vase of flowers or some knicknacks on it much less this big heavy tv. Well last week I had a feeling I should go to a certain Goodwill near an appointment that I normally don't have good luck at & found a beautiful antique styled end table $29.99! Solid heavy wood with one wobbly leg only because it was missing screws! Grandmother loved it and told me it was Queen Anne style, but because it didn't have a shelf under it for the cable box to sit on she wouldn't take it :sigh: Bought new screws and wood glue to fix it up for her too :( Well it is my table now and currently used to display mobile organic works of art aka my Cats.

10. Daily practice
Visualizations/affirmations are part of it, but also the individual practices I have been given and silent meditation where you open yourself up to the ONE.

I will say that listening to your inner guide is the best way to move on any issue---or to not move. I have been told over and over again that patience is important, because things move in Spirit's time, not ours. And this has been proven time and time again to be correct--nothing happens, nothing happens, and then WHAM! Everything manifests at once!

12. A couple of things
Every year around Jan 1st I write a list of "goals" I usually divide it in four categories.

1. Physical - health etc.
2. Mental - things I'd like to learn, accomplish etc.
3. Emotional - relationships etc.
4. Spiritual - goals for improving meditation time, greater connection with spirit, etc.

I have also done a vision board. Pasting pictures of things I'd like to have or accomplish.

Both of these have always been very helpful as it puts front and center the things I am working toward.

14. Just finished listening to Ainslie MacLeod
Edited on Mon May-25-09 07:47 AM by Kind of Blue
through Me's thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=245x92684

Towards the end of Part 2, I'd say the last 5minutes, is an interesting little discussion of manifesting, although the term is not used. He suggests speaking directly to your guides about what you need by writing it down and verbalizing it at least twice a day "to keep it on the front burner."

I think what MacLeod has to say (Parts 1 and 2) is relevant for the whole processes of manifesting as far as gaining clarity about who you are and what your soul needs for growth.

This to me is also the excellent point in Ayeshahaqqiqa's post.

17. There is only one way that I know that always works....
Edited on Mon May-25-09 09:51 PM by lisa58
...DETACHMENT....

The quicker you go into the silence - drop your intention - get out and stop thinking about it...

The sooner it will arrive.

Also, on the side of changing your thinking....pay attention to what you think and you'll know what you believe. When I pay attention to what I actually say to myself - I'm shocked. Once you know what you believe you can trace it back to it's origin and when you realize that the belief system is bogus - that will change it.

19. By detachment do you mean that if something's bothering you
to separate yourself mentally from that issue? I know what you're saying about the self-talk. Once I was able to overcome the negative talk things started to get a little better.

20. Not exactly....
Edited on Tue May-26-09 10:13 AM by lisa58
...by detachment I mean - once you send out your intention - drop it - don't think about it, don't fret about, don't go back and re-intend - just leave it alone.

If it comes back into your thoughts or emotions, tell yourself (and the universe) that you have already dealt with that, your part is done and that it is being taken care of and will arrive when it is completed.

You can use detachment when things bother you as well in order to not create a drama out of an illusion, but what I'm referring to here has to do with using detachment in manifesting what you want. You always get things faster when you forget you want it.

21. Ok I understand that.
It seems like whenever I've agonized about something continually like selling a house or getting a better job I didn't feel any closer to my goal than when I started. But after I went about my daily life things started happening.

...I'll actually farm out my requests to other people I trust when I know I can't detach enough to get it done myself.
