Any thoughts on roadrunners/chapparals?
I've had a couple of interesting experiences with these birds and they mean a lot to me as a native of New Mexico (long, complicated story), so I thought I would ask people with much more knowledge and experience about what significance they may have.

1.  Roadrunner's Wisdom Includes:

* Proper use of speed * Understanding rapid change * Agility * Evading capture through quickness

I didn't find anything on chaparrals.

3. Thanks MagickMuffin!
(Chaparral is just another name for the roadrunner.)

2. I grew up in New Mexico.
And it truly is the Land of Enchantment. I haven't lived there in years, but I remember the roadrunners, prairie dogs, jack rabbits and hunting for blue tail lizards in the mesas when I was a child. I think I may go back to live there someday. I can't get it out of my blood.

Scroll down this page to 'Roadrunner'. Interesting stuff:

4. I know what you mean about not being able to get it out of your blood.
I feel the exact same way. I'm about to move away again, but I always come back and when I'm gone I miss it terribly, almost as though it really is a part of me, or in my blood.

Thanks for the link! That's a fascinating website. I liked the entry on the roadrunner.

5. None actually, but I do have one that visits me occasionally while I'm weeding
at the edge of the road. It isn't afraid of me and seems to be curious as to what I'm doing.
