Does anyone in our group have knowledge of
the writings of Dr. Wayne Dyer? I watched him on PBS recently for 3 hrs. and was mesmerized. This man just seemed to touch a spot in my soul, and opened up my eyes to many of the mistakes I've been making in my life lately. He was speaking of "memes". Ideas that we get into our heads and deep into our subconscious that are self defeating. It was made so crystal clear to me!! Of course a lot of these principles were what led me to God in the first place, but I had forgotten. One of the very first books that influenced me was "The power of positive thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale. Dr. Dyer takes it to a new higher spiritual level for me with the New Age principles of we are what we think!! I've ordered his new children's book for my grandson "No Excuses". What feedback do any of you have regarding his teachings? It could be that I'm "late to the party" on this subject, not having been in this group for that long, but I'll accept being a "newbie" in this regard. He also spoke of one of his Spiritual teachers Rham Dah (spelling?) Looking forward to hearing from y'all! JA

1. He is the BEST!
I consider him my personal mentor, although we've never met. He changed my life in 1983 when I read his first book, you probably remember when it came out because everyone mistook the name of it: "Your Erroneous Zones".....people thought it said "Your Errogenous Zones" & I'm sure he sold many copies to some disappointed sex-advice seekers. I believe it came out around 1975.

I've read many of his other books, too. But for me that first book is GOLDEN. I highly recommended it. I've given it as gifts to many people over the years.

Go to any bookstore & you'll find numerous books of his. I do believe he is an angel sent from high.

Here's a quest for you concerning Dr. Dyer, if you read his book you'll find the answer:
What is a scurvy elephant?

Hope you are doing better than last month, JA. Have things begun to move in a positive direction? Take care & read the book!

7. I look forward to taking that "quest"!!!
One of the funniest and most memorable stories he told at the Seminar on PBS, was one about his patient who blamed everything that was wrong with him and his life on his late mother. The good Dr. said, "well if we could just bring her back, I could heal HER, and then everything would be alright with YOU"!!! So...simple that it makes ya really think about all of the excuses we habitually make! (also, see my post below) JA

2. I read his first book,
Your Erroneous Zones probably shortly after it was published in the 70's. It helped me get over a lot of parental issues at the time. I've seen him on PBS a few times. I looked at one of his latest books at the store recently and decided it probably didn't have anything new for me. But, he is a great teacher, that's for sure.

3. I credit him as one of my great teachers as well ...
.... listening to many of his books on my way to work, I was able to integrate the ideas he spoke about into my daily life almost seamlessly. I was definitely ready to bring them into my consciousness.

I think his gift is bringing through ancient wisdom concepts in a way that is understandable to someone who might not be familiar with and/or open to the ideas. He gets a lot of criticism for being all "new age-y" (like that's bad but whatever) and yet, he knows what he is here to do and does it.

I am very thankful for him in my life.

4. Okay... get out your pen... :)
I turned around from my computer and pulled these three off the shelf. I reread them when needed - sometimes 2x a year as in 2008 which was so special:

There's a Spiritual Solution to Every Problem - based on the prayer of St. Francis. Wonderful little book. This is my favorite.

You'll See it When you Believe it. Has helped me get past some old scripting. Not done yet but will.

The Power of Intention. Same as above. Need to read it a few more times as lots of nuggets of good thinking in this one.

Enjoy if you are just finding Dr. Dyer!

5. OK !!!
Thanks to all of you for your input re the good Dr. I would also like to thank you all for validating for me, that our belief systems are indeed in sync!!! I am beginning to do much better re my meltdown, and lack of faith when times get hard. You all had much to do with it, and the power of our earth angels, and light workers, and God's intervention. But guess what??? I "had to" stop taking my anti depressants because my Dr. wouldn't renew my scrip without seeing me in the office first. Best thing I could have done for myself. I'm less depressed than when taking them, and after going without them for a week, I no longer have some of the other physical symptoms that were vexing me.(loss of bowel control being the main one!!!) SORRY for that tidbit! I had a bad cough last week from allergies, and while sitting on the couch watching TV, in my nice clean nightgown, I coughed a little too hard and nice clean nightgown went in the washer, while I had to get in the shower!!: It's looking like I might be able to take the 3 hr. trip to LI for my granddaughter's wedding next mo. after all.:bounce: I took the time finally to read all the paperwork the pharmacist gives out with all those meds he dispenses, and read that this was one of the many side effects from Zoloft!! As to the other problems, I'm swimming as fast as I can, and I've just let go and let God!!! My next trip to town will include a trip to the library to check out some of Dr. Dyers books, so I can catch up with y'all!:grouphug: JA

8. Dear JanusAscending
I think we all are 'swimming as fast as we can'. It's important to support each other with what we know and when we can. I don't think anyone here would say they had a corner on the answers but I think collectively, we are pretty awesome in our mutual support and sharing.

Big hug to you in working stuff out.

6. I like him :)
Although I've never read any of his books.

He does have a radio program on HayHouseRadio if you want to tune in: Dr. Wayne Dyer's Inspiration
