I feel hopeless against the Limbaugh-Zombie darkness

I left for work hopeless this morning, I have been trying to stay away from the news for weeks now because of that feeling and worse, which is an overwhelming rage at the right that I cannot pray away. I don’t want to be there, so I have been trying to not obsessively pour over every word in the news and allow it to control my every emotion as I did for so long. But I saw the front page of the local paper as I brought it in out of the rain, there was our good Democratic Congressman trying to talk to brain-washed fools who I call unlovingly “red-necks against health care”. I feel hopeless, good wins by huge margins with the voters and it still looses, all because the darkness has the “freedom” in this country to spread lies and deceit willy-nilly through control of AM Radio, an entire “news” channel, and tax-free in the majority of Churches in this nation. Also because the “mainstream media” would prefer a football game of left team vs right team, with analysis of play calling and scoring points being given precedence over reality.

I feel hopeless, I don’t know what I will do if these turds manage to defeat the President and weaken him then come back into office. I can’t imagine what desperation might do in me. I was screaming at the Universe/God/Supreme Being in my car this morning. How can you let this evil win no matter what?

Please tell me the light can defeat even the power of Clear Channel, Fox News, multi-national corporations, and the nation’s powerful and gigantic, tax-exempt Church industry. We beat the hell out of the other side, the darkness, in the election but they still send out their zombie army to overpower the good at every turn through nothing but rage, not votes or ideas, just rage and hate for the "other". Please tell me that light can win even against the lies of darkness broadcast endlessly and falsly called "freedom".

I am still going to be off the main news grid. I was allowing myself to be beaten to death, getting into fights on DU and Kos even. I just can’t live there anymore. The misery got too great. When I stopped the news obsession I even heard that "guide voice" say in my head that if I continue this way I might be able to hear them. ASAH is one of the few places I come now, I even had to “hide” a friend on Facebook because he listened to propaganda and went all batty over healthcare. Most people don't get my overwhelming fear of the right, or my rage. Thanks to this group for being here. Sorry if this post took up too much time with my disfunction.

The light has already won. What we're seeing is the part of the movie when the axe murderer, seemingly defeated, rises up for one more lunge at the pretty heroine.

I know how you feel. I think we've all gone through that at one time or another in recent months. We want our happy ending, dammit! We want the joyous wedding scene, the riding-off-into-the-sunset thingamajig, the last uproarious joke that has everyone onscreen guffawing in unison--however movies end that has us leaving the theater feeling that the world is a great place and all hoomins are all right, deep down.

But we're still fighting. We are in the umpteenth reel of the horror flick and the zombies of negativity are still coming, and we are T-I-R-E-D. It's no wonder we can get to feeling a little down sometimes.

You're doing the right thing, GTRO--stay away from corporate news, the majority of the intertubes, and the discussion forums especially (except ASAH of course!) Their goal is to drag you down into the muck and keep you there. Those unhappy souls (and they're on both sides, conservative and liberal alike, judging from the daily mess of GD and GDP here) don't want anybody else to be happy or hopeful. The dementors want to suck out your soul, man--they won't be happy with anything less. So listen to some happy music instead. Watch a movie that you KNOW ends well. Stay here and talk about good things with us and soak up the light. You'll get through this just fine, as will we all. :hug:

Part of the problem I suspect is that we thought, once we won the elections, that we'd won. But that was the *beginning*, not the end. So there is a huge letdown to see them not lay down and friggin die now that they've been defeated by vote.

I think the healthcare fight could be the one that finally slays the monster. That's why their huge effort. When they said this is Obama's Waterloo, they made it their Waterloo too.

So now is not the time to give up the fight or be disheartened, although it's awfully hard with the disinformation being spread.

And then, later, there is an entire generation or two, however, that have been totally brainwashed by the lies perpetrated by the media and their foolish parents. They will need to be gotten off the koolaid, too, for the future...

The din is loudest when THEY are feeling defeat. It took a long time to build this mess, so it will take some time to pull it down...but that time IS coming.
You're right, it's a good idea to stay away from mainstream media, as this is exactly how they want you to feel-the more you expose yourself to, the more the emotions of fear and hopelessness can take hold in your thoughts through the manipulation that is used. We need not-and must not-succumb to this "reality".
Here's some of the things I do to help quell those negative feelings:

Listen to favorite music
Work on creative projects/art
Seek out and surround myself with my "support" people
Go for walks in nature (btw, watched a fascinating show about cuttlefish on NOVA last night!)
Read a good, fun fiction book -or watch funny movies
Take a good nap

Oh yeah-take deep breaths and realize that this too shall pass....(I believe for the better...)

Try sending them light and positive vibes. Like I said it may be a lost cause but we could all send light their way. The Cosmos will recognize the effort that we are trying to give to them even though they don't seem as though they deserve our efforts. But we have to be the beacons in a truly dark dark world.

The people who have been brainwashed don't realize or recognize that they are being played, manipulated, they're just ignorant dupes, in this whole scheme of Corporate America propaganda.

While it's good to have a cathartic screaming session, you also need to send love and light to counter balance the negativity.

Hugs to all. As I have told you guys before, I live in a red state with a "red" mate, and it just seems like I am surrounded by darkness and people who are the living dead at times, parroting the right-wing crap at the drop of a hat as if there is no other way of thinking; yet sounding normal when talking about basketball or something.

Lately I have been seeing alternative/psychic/spiritual shoots sprouting up in my area, and the pessimism in me says "well, those nice little businesses won't last long once the right takes back over". I have patronized two of these wonderful places in the past week! A new wellness center for a meditation class (Mr. Red in tow), and a "Psychic Saturday" workshop at the office of a wonderful Psychic Medium here. I see the light popping up even here, like seeds dormant under the scorched earth after a fire; and fear it being put right back out. I have a hard time holding onto the hope it seems.

Thanks everyone, I want to believe we can win this battle we are in, these guys aren't going to go down easy, and we have allowed them so damn much domination of the media that they don't even need that many supporters to keep hacking at all that is good. It is going to be long. I am grateful for the good suggestions and encouragement here. I hope I can keep working on my spiritual insides so that I can survive whatever comes next from the dark.

You need to find a way to recharge. Take some B vitamins, turn off the TV, Computer, Radio and hide the newspapers for a few days. DU will still be rehashing whatever happened that week for several weeks and you will be able to get an update from several pov! :)

I think we all go thru this... I just happened to feel sane currently so thought I would send you a well-deserved hug and HUZZAH for keeping up with the negativity so far! This all is turning slowly in our favor... think if it turned any faster it would make the wingnuts little heads implode and make one helluva mess to clean up.

so soul-tired and feeling hopeless I could hardly stand it. The media has done their usual part to stir the pot, and the zombies and the haters are on the warpath. Doesn't help that many DUers seem to have falling completely into the hole of negativity, and are posting gloom and doom all over the place.

But you know what? I know, I KNOW, in my gut and my heart and my head and my soul that things really ARE changing for the better. What I see are the same people, saying the same things, and singing from the same songbook. It's always worked in the past; the dark side always seems to "win". And while it seems they will win yet again, my deep sense is that those time-honored (by the right and the really negative people) things just won't work this time. I think enough people have awakened and are aware, consciously or subconsciously, that it's the dawning of a new day, and there is really no going back. The zombies are grabbing at our ankles and trying to pull us back, because it worked before, but they are just not going to be successful this time.

I don't know how long this transformation will last. I wish the world could be transformed overnight, but because the new energy is coming through humans in large part, the denseness can slow the energy down. But it can't stop it, and it can't stop the changes.

I'm glad you posted this, because as I said, I was feeling much the same way. It also gave members here a chance to respond in a way that certainly helped me to feel better and lighter, and I hope it has done the same for you.

Absolutely. Know that if you wish to remodel your home, and the kitchen person bickers with the painter who bickers with the flooring people, that it will take a while, especially if one or more have zero intention to get along and make it happen for the good of all involved. The material plane is based upon intent, so the intent of the selfish is being magnified (as will its effect upon them). Pray, meditate, smell the flowers and visit the water. Listen to the birds. Compliment a cat and bask in their enjoyment. You will be rewarded with positive for having been positive.

Hang in there, SG. Check out the beautiful music, if you're a music fan. Know that it's going to be like this for two to three years, but change is absolutely happening. I'm not certain when the 2012 energy will become empiric (EVERYONE knows that something is going on), but if you're ready for it, you can pray for it to speed up, and enjoy some right now :)

I share all of your feelings, and am attempting to do as you are. I try not to watch even the "good" political news...aka Rachell and Keith. I'm a Christian, and I find myself hating the fundies, some of my own children included. It's a terrible way to feel, and eats you up inside! I have had something going on in my head for over a month now, but I just can't seem to express it on the page. It's regarding Christ, and I keep hearing in my heart "In my name" and listing all of the negative things that have been done and continue to be done, in His name!!! What has been helping me is.....the light is more powerful than the darkness. It just has to spread into all of the nooks and corners. My mantra right now is "KEEP HOPE ALIVE"!!! Bless you honey as we travel through pits of despair into the LIGHT!! Love ya! JA

The hate and rage I have against the righties for their darkness and desire to dominate everyone, and for turning their followers into Zombies in the first place; became so painful to hold inside me that I gave up even Keith and Rachel, who gave me great comfort during the election. I can't hold rage like that for long periods of time and have any sense of myself left. I would find myself shaking all over and just mentally gone from the constant rushes of anger adrenaline.

I had a psychic tell me in the only reading I have ever had that I should lay off the news media and if I need to know something it will still get through to me.

I believe you are onto something in hearing "In my name", though I don't consider myself specifically "Christian", there is no way the stuff the right does (and the religious right) has any resemblance to Christ; they absolutely soil his name. My Dad is very much a Christian and he feels that they work against the teachings of his religion in almost everything they do. And if it obvious to us, why are other people so brain-washed that they can't see it?

I think that is your answer in a nutshell! The only thing I still love about my Christianity is Christ himself and HIS teachings.

But I can't banish it, I have to simply work on it and avoid what makes me the most rageful. I am not someone who can make certain emotions go away, I envy those who are, believe me. When I have emotions they are STRONG and I want to be Wonder Woman and put the bad guys in their place, LOL! I know how much these feeling hurt me, but it's like willing away pneumonia I'm afraid.

Went to my meditation class tonight and bought a new journal, then watched that goofy Warehouse 13 show that I love. Trying!

There's a huge shift that's been happening. We are so much further along now than we were. There are more people able to speak truth these days without being slain by the right winged nut cases. Just remember the way it was shortly after 9/11. No one could speak out against the crooks in office. Very little truth would be allowed out in the media or any other venture. I'll never forget Michael Moore speaking up at the Academy Awards, so excited to finally hear sanity somewhere, and then to hear so many horrible things about him afterwards. I remember him talking about the pain his wife went through from that, about how one day shortly after that night, they had a huge pile in horse manure left in his driveway. Remember the Dixie Chicks. Remember the power of the Bush Administration, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, etc. running around snubbing their noses in the public faces, saying in unison, "We don't care about you. We were elected (selected) to decide" and of course, those decisions financially lined their pockets while bankrupting our country and killing millions of innocent people. I can't forget how miserable and frantic I felt under that craziness.

Little by little, the right wing has been cracking. More Republican politicians are showing a human side and even making sense. Others are being caught with their pants down, almost literally, and finally exposed. More Republican voters have awakened to the reality of their party and have even changed their registration. More media coverage is out there that reports on the sins happening in Washington. It's leaking through, more and more. The powers that be don't have the choke hold on the country nearly as badly as they did only 6-7 years ago. We are making so much progress, but like you are all saying, we're done with it especially since we saw such a huge leap forward last November. We want it over with already.

More than ever, now is the time to remain hopeful, be thankful for the incredible progress we've made. Stop watching the news and the nuts. You know the media tries to make this small group of crazies look like they are bigger and more powerful than they are. If you fall for that, you're empowering this very weakened party. Don't do that. Look at the good, acknowledge the light that's already there, shining so bright, and be thankful that this nightmare is indeed coming to an end (with our help, sooner than later).
