Sad day at black rock. This was the worst gardening year ever.
Today I pulled up the almost dead tomatoes, the basil, lots of very sad lettuce and other garden staples. My neighbor and I share a garden. This year has been so bad that he has hardly come to pick the few things that did grow.

My Frisee lettuce has been OK-sort of-the regular green leaf lettuce has been awful.
Onions popped up too soon.
Green and wax beans were a disaster.

The only thing left now are radishes and some lettuce that my neighbor planted with hopes of a second crop--never mind there was really no first crop.
Still a couple of bunches of Swiss Chard.
All else has died on the vine.
Just when we could use the great greens, they decide this year to not grow.
Shoot!!!

1. It was tough, wasn't it!
I had a very sad little ...key word is little...crop of peanuts, one canteloupe, one watermelon, green tomatoes that just came out, I'm still waiting on the potato results, but the squash was sad, the lettuce is sad, the spinach is sad and I couldn't get get my broccoli or cauliflower starts to make it. Sigh.

2. The hurricane monsoons took out my tomatoes.
What a disappointment. I like to keep them going until the end of September. It wasn't my best garden, but it wasn't my worst and the lettuce, kale and spinach I planted a couple of weeks ago are looking good.
