We have a lawyer...the idiot had the nerve to send a DEMAND LETTER to us right before Christmas and hadn't even contacted us in any other way before then. He left that dangerous culvert in the ditch and it did collapse under the weight of a truck!! My heart dropped when I saw that. Luckily, it happened to be truck of the other contractor we hired to clean the mess us and boy, was it a mess.
We suspected that he'd subcontracted the job out and turns out, he did. He'd contracted to someone who IS KNOWN FOR SHODDY WORK. One of our neighbors knew that guy and walked over to speak to him. When Sir Ecumenist asked said neighbor if he knew the contractor we'd hired, he said he didn't. EPIC jacked up job he was supposed to do on our property. Here's the latest info... The job was so botched that we had to pay extra to have the road regraded PRONTO and told him that not only did we have no plan to pay him a dime, he is going to have to pay us for the extra stuff we have to do to ameliorate the erosion damage that would put us in a VERY vulnerable position of being fined by the EPA, Fish and Game, etc. He then had the nerve to have some idiot lawyer send us a letter warning us against finishing the job without letting him do it AND by doing so, we would be waiving any right to collect damages against this creep. "Oh really?" That pissed me off the nth degree, let me tell ya..
Said contractor sent the first letter claiming to have completed the job under the contract and demanding payment...:eyes: I basically told him to hold his breath... Then we got a letter from that lawyer telling us to allow him to finish the job ..."Um what?" Which is it, you slimeball?
When we submitted the photos of the damage, our lawyer literally fell out laughing, to the point of tears and told us that we had absolutely NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT...Not a big surprise, let me tell ya.
Right now, we're just in the search for a licenced, certified restorationist. This ugy doesn't know that we are in receipt of the person he subcontracted to undertake the work, without notifying us and out and out lying the whole time, each time we asked him if he subbed the work out.
We also reported him to the Contractor's state licencing board and they're a bit interested in what he has to say about this mess as well. He opened this door, attempting to threaten us and now he's finding himself would up in his own web. Po'thang...
