best soil amendment to add iron??
our soil is notoriously low on available iron and I need recommendations on something I can use around my trees and also in the garden

suggestions?

1. Ironite.
Can be sprayed or watered in. Lots for a tree. You could deep root feed the trees.

2. i read somewhere that stuff has nasty heavy minerals or lead or something

In the day gardeners used to spink nails in the ground. don't know if there are any that wil rust anymore.

"Perform a soil test; correct soil pH to 7.0 or lower.
In iron-deficient soils, add bone meal or blood meal organic amendments, or add iron sulfate or chelated iron liquid or granular inorganic amendments.
Quick fix: Apply chelated iron directly to soil or as a foliar spray.
Reduce soil pH to at least 7.0 which is considered neutral.
Long term: Improve the soil by adding 1-2 inches of compost in the spring every year."

5. thanks! I have so many coffee grinds, I know they add nitrogen
but can't find out what else they do anywhere...

maybe I'll take a patch of my white soil and start experimenting....
