I think I have a Praying Mantis in my garden!
I've been told by a couple of other gardeners that this is a reason for celebration, is this true? If so, what do they eat?

I just snapped two pictures of the little guy, er, or girl, and here they are:

Pic No. 2 (Ansel Adams I ain't)

:hi: Thanks in advance for anything you smart garden people can tell me.

1. That is indeed a Praying Mantis.
He/She is one of the good bugs.
I wish we had a hundred in our garden.

I always like to see a Praying Mantis....good omen, good Karma or whatever.
They just make me happy. :)
They are fun to watch if you have the patience.

Yum. Nice tomato too.

2. Yep, that one is from a seed. It's an Early Girl.
One of the only 2 tomato plants I managed to start from seed this year. Next year, I plan to start earlier, and get all of them from seeds.

3. Praying Mantis favorite food =
Flies and Aphids. The appetite for aphids should really have you jumping for joy. I saw a baby praying mantis in my garden last week and did a celebratory jig.:silly:

5. Wonderful.
I have flies and aphids. I released some lady bugs about a week ago, and now this. Never thought I'd have so much fun just watching the bugs in my garden. Now, if I can just get rid of the ants....

4. Very cool!
I am thinking about buying some online and letting them go in my garden. I have lots of bad bugs. :(

6. I bought some Lady Bugs at the store and released them
about a week ago. Now every time I see a Lady Bug, I tell it not to fly away home, coz it's all ready home.
