The latest missive from Wooville.
Don't get a flu shot because flu prevents or cures cancer!

No, I'm not making that up.

1. Watching Big Pharma conquer the Third World...
Edited on Thu Nov-27-08 10:16 AM by onager
Weird incidents in Egypt this morning. I don't know what's going on, but apparently SOMETHING is. I know quite a few cases of Bird Flu have turned up here.

As mentioned in other posts, my daily commute takes me thru a whole string of rural farm villages.

This morning a truck with loudspeakers was stopping in every village to blast a message. Usually, this means someone has died. A truck goes thru all the villages making the death announcement so people can attend the funeral.

My Egyptian driver said this truck was announcing free injections for all animals, and explaining the details. Any epidemic affecting farm animals would devastate this whole region. These people are desperately poor and rely on those animals for everything from work to transportation to milk/food.

Possibly unrelated, but a few minutes later we saw an Egyptian mom giving her baby some medicine with an eye-dropper. She was holding his nose to get it inside him. Just like my mother used to do when giving me that damn cod liver oil; she thought it cured everything short of decapitation.

BTW, the world's biggest and oldest leper colony is in Egypt. A local magazine ran an article about it a few months ago. Even though leprosy is non-contagious and not usually fatal, it is still viewed with horror in this part of the world and often considered some sort of Biblical/Koranic curse.

The article noted that Evil Big Pharma freely donates the medicines used in the place, and is aggressively searching for a cure.

Those lepers! What a bunch of shills!

2. I'm sure big pharma is using the peons for test subjects
Without their knowledge of course.

They probably brought leprosy and bird flu to Egypt just to give them plenty of test subjects.

Fortunately vitamin D (the cure du jour in Wooville) will cure that. Just tell your Egyptian friends to get more sunshine! That's the ticket!

3. Well, the same person also suggested you get lots of sun exposure
to prevent cancer, too. These people really don't think anything through. If it's "natural," it's good.

7. Did you know that semen prevents cervical cancer?
Yup. One of my favorite cranks EVER says so. It's the barrier method of contraception that has caused the rise in cervical cancer. Women need exposure to semen, in order to prevent cervical cancer. The barrier method prevents that natural protection.

Oh, the stories of cranks and cancer that I could tell you....
