Funny how these enlightened folks always have to charge for stuff. Fuck it's easy to rip off the stupid and gullible.

The story begins with telepathic communication.

That's troubling in that, it leaves question about her agreement and consent to any promotional activity.

But the TWUE BELIEVERS will never see that. Which of course is what makes them such easy marks.

But, it does seem she is well cared for. I guess that's the part that matters most.

"Sioux" was the wasicu/white man's term for the Oceti Sakowin(seven council fires) Nation.

Subdivisions/ethnic groups are Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota. There are language differences and other cultural differences.

Each of these is further divided into tribes or bands.

Dakota: Mdewakanton, Wahpetowan (Wahpeton), Wahpekute, Sissetowan (Sisseton)
Nakota: Yankton: Ihantowan , Ihanktowana
Lakota: Tetunwan/Teton division : Oglalla, Hunkpapa, Sihasapa, Minniconjou, Sićangu, Itazipacola, Oohenonpa


However, I have been away from the Dakotas for a while, and they may have changed how they refer to themselves.

I'm confoosed about the proper terminology for the Sioux in this story. :P

BTW- We did vacation through S. Dakota a few summers ago and drove through the badlands and black hills, it was awesome.

Yes, we travelled with two dogs and three pretty unhappy cats. Except for night time, when they got out of the conversion van and explored the mighty Dakota hills hotel rooms! Plus, I snipped them grass nibbles through out the trip from varying locales to munch on and they got to see some real live roadside buffalo, which they could sniff through the window of the spacious and comfortable pet-moblie van! They were not impressed--we were! :) The dogs,however, loved it. they got to trapse through fields and streams in the Black Hills of South Dakota and we all got to see the historic mining town of Deadwood, which was a big HBO series at the time.

But, maybe you can help me on some other aspects of this story, the spiritual part.

Is this a reference to Native American spirituality? Is that what they mean by the terms: the Universal and Spiritual Laws of Creator?

Or is this some qausi- Native American reference, with other concepts thrown in? I guess I thought this family just showed up on the door step of Chief Running Elk and missed the point they were all from the same people and shared a common spiritual system.

For example, these terms, sound kind of new age mixture:

Anyway, I don't quite know what to make of this story. I was wondering what you guys thought of it. The part that bothered me the most was the possibility of exploiting someone with a disability. I dunno know. I have no answers. Just questions. heh heh, I'm just a curious little dog sometimes. :)

It sounds like new age writing to me, the terminology. One problem with spirituality is language doesn't exist to explain it very well. People get hung up on words, like God, the Universal and Spiritual Laws of Creator, allah, etc. It can make it difficult to tell if you are talking about the same thing (the Great Whatever or God or ...). As far as the telepathy? I am a skeptic. I've experienced odd, unexplainable things in my life, but am a skeptic at much of it (meaning new age AND biblical stuff).


Doing a quick look about "Grandmother Chandra" online, I find she has cerebral palsy, and uses a message board to communicate.

Doing a quick look about "Standing Elk", I have mixed feelings.

One place calls him "Chief of Yankton Sioux" and talks about him doing SunDances, which is good. Being involved with SunDances boosts him up, spiritually, in my mundane estimation. There is more about him on UFO websites. Not sure if it is UFO/orbs people using him, wannabe tribers, or how much he believes in them.

As far as exploiting a disabled young woman, it is possible. It could be exploitation, with her going along for the ride, excitement, 15 minutes of fame. Or it could be real since there are things I can't explain. I don't know though.

If she's part of an established cultural theology,they have my respect, I have no gripe against people having a faith based system.

If it's something that was whipped up ad hoc around this young woman that is like brand spanking new, then, that sounds hokey.

You know, even if they sell oils and stuff, with her image and all that, I don't care, I would imagine they have medical bills and costs associated with this young ladie's care. As long as she is well cared for.

The only reason this popped up is that it was part of another search I was doing for the Indigo/China thread and this was part of the same website and seemed curious to specifically name this young lady, then a link to her website.

Oh well, at least I learned something more about S. Dakota! :)

is that someone involved with this is knowingly and happily using a handicapped person to cheat people out of money. Worse than the normal woo, IMHO
