Anybody remember Troy Hurtubise?
The loopy inventor of the Grizzly Suit, Fire Paste, and the God Light?

He's back with a Whitley Strieber-esque message for humankind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjS4sZX7V7g

His time in this universe is short. So while he burns a Koran, a Bible, and a "Hinduism book", he wants you to know:
There is no God.

He's One of Five who receives visits from Others from another universe.

There is an "eternity" of universes. When you die, you cross over to the next. It's universes all the way down.

Of unenlightened humans, the ones who are closest to "getting it" are Deepak Chopra and Bill Myers (I wonder if he doesn't mean Bill Moyers. Myers is a Christian fundamentalist, one of Tim LaHaye's rat pack). Stephen Hawking is coming to a glimmer of what it's all about, but he's way behind.

Of all the world's religions, the one closest to Truth is Scientology.

1. The comments are scary.
All the people agreeing with him, that is. Or saying "this makes a lot of sense."

I certainly remember Whitley Streiber. He wrote 2 fairly good horror novels. Then apparently went right off the deep end while researching a sci-fi project, and convinced himself he had been visited by aliens etc. etc. Practically started his own damn religion about it. Which seems to be what Hurtubuise is up to, as well (as you point out).

This reminds me of the famous "Jerusalem Syndrome" - people who visit Jerusalem and have interesting mental breakdowns, believing they are actually talking to Jesus or Mary or various saints. Sometimes they believe they ARE Jesus, Mary, etc.

Maybe immersing one's self in ET-lit has something of the same effect.

2. Hurtubise bankrupt himself
turning his grizzly suit into an Ironman outfit for the military. Inventin' is expensive work. It might have occurred to him that guru schtick is much easier, as long as you're willing to lie and keep on lying. Look at Strieber -- he got caught in a big honking lie (namely, that he was in the UT shooting gallery during Charles Whitman's clocktower rampage) and he still makes a nice living as a high weirdness maven.

As you've seen, YouTubers seem ready to follow Troy wherever he's going. Chumps.
"Hurtubise claims that he has been unable to test the suit against live ammunition because no one is willing to shoot him in it."
