Doctorate in Homeopathic Medicine
I was reading the article HuckleB posted in GD about Huffingtion Post and it mentioned that their "Wellness Editor" had a Doctorate in Homeopathic Medicine. I remember reading that Thom Hartmann also has the same degree. Ever since I heard about Hartmann's degree I've wondered what the hell is involved in getting a doctorate in Adding Water to Stuff. There's just not that much to it. You just hand someone a measuring cup and a thesaurus of pseudo-scientific jargon and they'll have everything they need to become a homeopath.

I've decided I would like to be referred to as Dr. Heretic so I have written my homeopathic doctoral thesis and will be submitting it for review.

1. But just think...
you could end up just like Dr. Mercola, the foremost authority on vaccines.

3. I never knew that about Thom.
His whole, "the world's problems can be solved by converting to animism," makes a lot more sense though.

4. Is a Doctorate of Homeopathy really so different...
...from a Doctorate of Divinity?

7. In the 19th century, homeopathy had the comparative virtue...
...of not killing you. A lot of the other quack remedies of the day were downright dangerous. I saw a patent medicine label for Coumadin, a blood thinner and an active ingredient in rat poison, which purported to cure everything imaginable. The label simply said "Do not use too much" without any indication of just how much rat poison is "too much."

This of course is not a justification for bottling distilled water as a cure-all nor for causing people to avoid scientific treatments that might actually work.
