I'm getting ready to delete to make way for a Horde character to be determined.

3. I'm used to PvP (Mal'Ganis is PvP), and I'm used to being in the minority
(Alliance is greatly outnumbered there).

I assume that horde is minority on Laughing Skull as it is on most servers? What level(s) are your characters there?

4. I have a friend who is a 60 Tauren Shaman, with tons of purple stuff
but I just started there.

I'm currently a 24 Undead Priest (shadow spec), and have friends who also started characters there.

One is a 18 undead mage, and two are Tauren Druids, both around lvl 10 right now. So we are just getting started on that server.

Actually, the guy who got me to create a character on that server, the 60 Shaman, started an undead Warlock too.

We could use a Warrior, definately, tanks are always good, if you would be interested...

I like to grind out levels on rested XP.

How do you spec your priest?

I'm straight shadow, and the mage is straight arcane.

7. Right now my priest is mostly shadow...
A little bit of holy mixed in (the 70% chance to ignore a hit when casting a healing spell is nice)

I'm probably going to re-do the talents for pure holy now that I'm almost lvl 60. Can't do raids alone, and
I'm going to be needing to heal party members in those raids.

8. Shadow Priests don't go well in parties anyway, I find
mainly because Shadow Priests want to spend a lot of mana, then recharge quickly so they don't have to drink.

But since Spirit Tap hardly ever proc's in a group setting, you kind of have to hold back and just slowly DPS.

Usually, when I go into an instance, I just end up healing.

So to speak...

As a priest, do you find when you're in a group of people who don't know you to think you're just a
walking Rod of Healing for them?
Ever have someone say "HEAL ME NOW PRIEST!!!!"?
Or "PRIEST HEAL THE TANK NOW!!!!!"?
Or my favorite "PRIEST HEAL MY PET B4 HE DIES!!!!!" (Um, you're a hunter. YOU heal your pet.)

I have, and I simply say to them "If you can't even take the time to type out the first the letters of my name
(which is faster than typing "priest" you don't get any healing. I'm not a wand of Healing."

Only had to say that a few times. Usually people are very nice to me, (mainly becuase I'm the person keeping them alive)

And do you have any GUI plugins?

(Sorry for all the questions)

10. CT raid, that's about the only plugin. Like to watch the DPS tick
My favorite priest story, though, was when I was using my low level undead priest on Laughing Skull, was running around with my friend who is a Warlock.

Some rogue keeps saying stupid stuff in chat, starts asking for bags and money and help and other crap. So I make fun of him in the general chat channel.

Well, my warlock friend and I are running around killing and questing, when we actually see this rogue. He comes over and talks some serious crap to me. Then tries to ninja our targets. So I use SW: Pain to pull a ton of people to our group, he manages to pull all of them to him (thanks to Slice and Dice, I think) and so the Warlock and I just kinda step back while 4 PVE enemies just wail on him.

He says to me, "Uhh, heal?"

I reply with "Actually, isn't it "heal please"?" and then we watch him die.

11. Nice.
All I ask is that they be nice to the squishy priest. If they can't do that, they get no sweet healing.

I use a bunch'o'plugins, but the best one is Benecast, 'cause it puts the heal icons next to my party members, so I
can heal them without losing my target. just click the icon, and it casts the right kind of level of healing based on
how many levels I want to overheal the target (you can set the levels).

Love it. And it keeps us all alive longer.

you start with a fireball throwing, aggro drawing Imp. Level 10 you get a voidwalker, level 20 you get a succubus, level 30 you get a felhunter, level 40 you also get a mount.

The only class that I am certain don't get pets are Warriors.

good shaman and hunters.

i've got a tauren hunter with a pair of pets. fluffy the dinosaur/raptor and mister bigglesworth the kitteh (snow leopard)

shame that the tauren are horde, i'd have pegged them as a neutral party... til i read some of the backstory about how the alliance were a bunch of schmucks towards them.

got one alliance toon i keep for amusement when being a hunter is boring... she's a night elf rogue

funny thing is, my tauren hunter is the first male character i've had in an online game... ever. gender-bender, that's me.

My BF and I are both Horde on Hydraxis. About a 50/50 mix of Alliance/Horde, Horde dominates in Battlegrounds, crappy economy, but improving. I play a male 60 Tauren Feral Druid, and he plays a female 60 Blood Elf Frost Mage.

Funny that I only play male cows and he only plays hot chicks. And he constantly asks if "her" outfits are sexy enough. I stopped playing a female because I was tired of the attention, and he likes to play females because of the attention. Until he gets lewd comments at least....

If anyone is playing on Lothar, I have two enchanters who desperately need to raise their skill levels. I will enchant your items for free (if I have the materials). Loresti is a level 38 Warlock and Katal is a level 32 priest.

I have found enchanting to be the most difficult of professions. Is anyone else having this problem?

44. Yeah enchanting is difficult and expensive to keep up with.
Just DE every green and blue you get that you won't use. If you have the gold, go to the AH and buy cheap greens to DE. You can also get some friends to help you run lower level instances and let you DE all the boss drops for shards. When you get a lot of mats, stand on the steps of the bank in any major city and /yell that you're doing enchants for free. :D

A friend of mine started enchanting at level 70 and raised it to 375 in two weeks using that method.

35. Alliance on US Kael'Thas
I play a gnome warlock and my husband is a pally. My char's name is Allerane.

I used to play a night elf prot warrior as my main - when I would talk on TS or Vent people would be like, "OMG, you're the tank?!" I have a pretty high and feminine voice. Of course now they say that I sound like a gnome lock.

Our guild, You Are So Dead, just downed Gruul for the first time Sunday and we're venturing into Magtheridon's Lair and SSC this week. :) I love my guild - it's casual and fun. We don't even use DKP. Plus it's mostly married couples with small children, so yeah - people aren't going to be upset if you need to leave a raid or take a bit off from raiding or anything. Although, oddly enough for a guild of mostly married couples with kids, we don't bill ourselves as a family guild. It's an adult guild, and we require that you be 18 or over to join. Mostly because we like to be really immature on Vent. ;)

For Christmas and New Year's we made a bunch of level 1 gnomes and ported them to Shatt and ran around dancing and giving people random presents and stuff. :) And the other week when the instance servers were down and we couldn't get into Gruul's we raided the blood elf city instead and killed the boss with three minutes left to server shutdown.

It's made the game fun again - we quit for over a year after the number one raiding guild on our server rejected us - they'd been wiping to C'thun for months and people had stopped logging on, so they recruited some apps. But then they killed C'thun - my husband is in the kill shot - and started Naxx, so all the members came back and started griping about apps taking their places in raids.

Then we came back and found YASD and we probably won't be quitting again unless the guild folds. Which I don't see happening any time soon - it did split off a while before we came back and the more hardcore people made their own raiding guild, but it seems to have recovered from that drama quite well.

1. What are apps?
2. What is C'thun?

I'm having a really hard time reading the "chat" as it comes across in general and trade as we are not familiar with a lot of the abbreviations that are used. It really makes it difficult for people new to World of Warcraft to respond to much of anything. We have been on since the end of October and still have not figured out a lot of the abbreviations.

Thanks. :)

Apps: This is not a WoW specific abbreviation. I believe the poster was talking about applicants to the guild.

38. Thanks very much for posting these links.
I checked the second one out and learned a lot already. :) For instance, I had not heard of a "three-minute mage." :) Since I have two mages, this is really helpful.

Wouldn't it just be easier to spell out the abbreviations instead of creating web sites to explain what the abbreviations mean? In the time it takes to look up a meaning, the chat in general and trade have already scrolled off the board.

A player was looking the other day for someone to join her group to port someone else. She kept asking for another player to come to FP. I finally whispered and asked her where FP was located and discovered that it stood for flight path. Why not just ask for someone to meet at the Gryphons? Or say "we are meeting at the Gryphons"? Usually context will help me understand; however, context was not helping with FP.

I will definitely pass these links on to my husband and we will now be much better informed. Thanks again.

39. Apps could be addons too
They are helpful, annoying, addicting, and sometimes nessesary at the same time.

I dunno if it still goes on but some of the bigger guilds would require you to have certain ones for raiding.

Addons are actually installed into WoW.

Apps run seperate that were required may be like Teamspeak and Ventrilo. (voice server programs)

In "chat" you may see.. "<n00b killerz> is recruiting an experienced priest. We have Vent and use CT Raid for Mad MC raiding 3 nights a week"

Vent is an app
CT Raid is an addon

More linkys for ya.

Do noob and nub mean newbies?

At what level is one not a newbie any longer? I saw someone posting yesterday for a raid team and wanted no "noobs." That, however, did not tell me what they wanted. :)

Are the add ons sanctioned by World of Warcraft? I don't want to starting using add ons if they are going to get me booted from the game.

Oh yea, addons are ok'd by Blizzard. Actually, much of what gets added by Blizzard to the game's interface on patch day originally was a player's addon.

63. Your comment about instances was brought home...
...to me just the other day. :) My DK was tanking (and I must add that I play a fairly conservative game, i.e., not too aggressive (rushing). We had with us a 10-year-old, level 62 DK who was very aggressive and felt he could tank better than my 67. Granted, his reflexes are probably much, much better than mine, but I won't give ground on his having better judgment. :) We didn't have a Priest with us, but we did have a very, very good pally healing (for which I was very thankful).

64. I just started playing again with a Hunter but rebuilding a new priest
I love the hunter, so easy to level because you have a pet there to tank all the time for you. I just hit level 30 but I have no problem with killing stuff 5-6 levels above me provided that they don't swarm (just finished Shimmering Flats - which is an amazing area to level your hunter. Everything is spaced out so there is little risk of getting swamped).

But I am rebuilding a Holy Priest. I do love priesting but I'm just going to limit it to something with my guild in it. The guild is pretty levelheaded and known to kick out kids who act too assinine.

Unfortunately I couldn't restore my old account (couldn't remember the account name or password). Oh well, the server I was on was pretty dead. I'm on the Borean Tundra server now.

65. Welcome back to the game.
I agree that hunters are easy to level, even on a PvP server. I'm on four servers now and have a hunter on each. Yes, Shimmering Flats is a great place (once you get down the lift). :)

I started leveling a Holy Priest, which has been very hard to do since I play alone most of the time. :( I'm not making much progress with her right now. I try to take her out very, very early in the morning when the Horde "kids" are supposedly in school. :) Unfortunately, there are always those few who stay home sick. :)

If you ever get to VashJ, Azshara, Lothar or Twisting Nether, please look me up (message me here).

66. If you were building something new on one of those servers I could start an account there
however, I don't shop around too much with servers and I'd hate building new characters. I'd love to try an alliance character - never really built one before.

49. Alliance on Balnazzar
Yeah, I know. It wasn't my choice, since that's where my brother's guild is.

In case you don't know--Horde outnumber Alliance 6 to 1, and Balnazzar is a very small server. Everyone hates it.

51. yeah i do
i have a char on the server fenris, i am not the highest lvl in the world, but i am a pretty good hunter... i am lvl 34 and have been doing bg's for a while, just learning how to work my character and how to use him against the horde hunters, warriors, rouges, warlocks, ect. and have found out a lot.

For all those who are hunters...

Attacking a warrior- warriors use front attacks, to wing clip or concussion shot the hunter and run behind him and shoot.
Attacking a hunter- Hunters are another hunters worst fear, but there is a way, relying on their pet, send your pet after him/her and shoot him, with his pet frozen, the only thing he can do is defend.
Attacking a rouge- If you are able to spot a rouge before he goes stealth, click on him and send your pet, if he goes stealth before your pet gets there, no problem, your pet is able to sniff him/her out and attack, leaving him to defend.
Attacking a warlock- sort of like hunters, warlocks rely on their demon, freeze the demon, and lead your pet to the warlock and just attack.
Attacking a druid- this is hard, considering that they can heal themselves. If they turn into bear form, then you should leave your pet to do most of the work, and they have strong armor in that form, only running and shooting will work.

that is all that i have studied of so far, so..........

52. Azshara...
...We both have characters on this server now in addition to our originals on Lothar. It would really be nice to have some "adult" groups occasionally. If any of you are playing Alliance there (Azshara or Lothar), please let me know. :)

P.S. I thought only Republicans joined the Horde. :hide:

Edited on Fri Feb-20-09 05:45 PM by Terran
Had a 70 female Troll Shammie and a 60 male BE Mage plus a few low-level bank alts and wanna-bes. I miss it! But I quit because I actually got bored with WOW, imagine. I was laid up for a week recovering from knee surgery, no computer access and couldn't sit at a desk for long periods anyway, and when I was recovered enough to go sit at my computer desk again, it was if a fog had lifted...I found I was simply no longer interested in the endless pursuit of gold and rep and pretty clothes. Weird.

Just remember: Horde = good guys!

70. Scarlet Crusade server.
I'm one of the main tanks of a small guild. They say tanking is in my blood, and I couldn't disagree. My raiding toon is a warrior but I've also got a druid and paladin with tanking specs.

Death Knigget never really appealed to me. I played one for about an hour. Not sure if I still have him or if I deleted him. But that's one tank class I'll never take to 80.
