Look no further than the travesty that was the Mario Bros. movie, you know he doesn't want to see that shit happen to LoZ. And he has precedent, since LoZ was part of the awful Super Mario cartoon show from the late '80s.

Nintendo already makes LoZ as cinematic as it needs to be, without sacrificing gameplay. I don't know how the lousy video-game-based movies are spawned, but it's pretty clear that there's been some prophylaxis around LoZ for a decade or more.

The thought of seeing Gorons or Zora in a live action movie scares me, it would probably look very cheesy. That being said Zelda could potentially be another Lord of the Rings type epic if it had a script and a good director.

It would make a much better movie than most other Nintendo franchise, but it needs to be in the right hands.
