Baldur’s Gate II
Is it worth the $40.00 price tag? I already have the first Baldur’s Gate and now since we got the new computer was considering buying BG2. Is it as good as BG? I was very disappointed in Neverwinter Nights so I’m a bit gun shy about doling out forty bucks on this one.

3. Not the add on is Throne of Bhaal
That's the whole game for cheap. It's 6 years old dude. It's worth 40$, but you shouldn't pay that much for an older game.

8. Let us know how you like it
The graphics are slightly dated but it's not horrible to watch and the learning curve of it involves actually using the rarer spells and item abilities instead of marching in and hacking everything to pieces.

I'm sure there are a bunch of folks who can help you with any problems you have in the game.

Oh, and "GO FOR THE EYES, BOO! GO FOR THE EYES!!! RAAAAAAAGH!" (When you get it, you'll 'get it!')

9. Ooo I like the sound of that.

I usually play magic users and spend a lot of time rolling them up (my current MU numbers are 18, 18, 18, 18, 10, 10). So I can't wait to see what kind of Spells this game will have. As far as the graphics, as long as the game responds fast I don't care much, how it looks.

I bought Middle-earth II last week it was only $10.00. It looks absolutely fabulous but I can't quite get into the spirit of the game. It's not fun reacting to burning buildings all the time.

Thanks for the encouragement I'll let you know how things go.

BTW Boo would make a better leader than the one we have now. Hamsters rule the universe.

10. Minsc...
Voiced by the legendary Jim Cummings, whose past roles including Darkwing Duck and Don Karnage.

4. Don't pay that much
Really. When it came out, it was worth at least that much, but it's old. You shouldn't be paying more than ten bucks for either of them, and any expansions.

That said, I just started playing BG2 again just last week, and I'm still amazed at how well this game tells a story compared to other games that came after it. The only 'story' game I can think of that is recent and comes close to what the BG franchise did is, of course, the Elder Scrolls franchise. This contains TES4: Oblivion, which is a very (VERY) satisfying PC RPG.

5. I'd like think (graphics aside as well as hugeness of the world) BG kicked Oblivions tail
The NPC banter and the ease of play made it worth it. Plus the storyline is great IMHO.

Plus, Oblivion really didn't have anything like Minsc.

7. The story is definitely longer and more detailed
in BG and BGII. However, I think the entire world Bethesda has created has more going for it than the BG series.

Besides, BG is a Forgotten Realms campaign, which ties it to D&D. Bethesda's world is itself, and thus unique.

(Aside: I want an entire series of games set in Rapture. We saw something like less than 10% of the visible city in Bioshock; I want more. An editor would help that along...)

11. As others have mentioned, I agree that you can get it for way cheaper
And might I add that it's all about "BUTT KICKING FOR GOODNESS!" and in the end, "EVIL, STAND ASIDE, HERO COMING THROUGH".

12. Sadly some of the other Characters are more annoying
eg Aerie (especially in Throne of Bhaal). She's 16th level mage and 16th level cleric but she's still scared and emotionally hesitant (in character at least)??? Come one woman...er...elf you fart and mountains move aside at your level! Get a backbone!

I'm rather a fan of Edwin and Korgan myself as well. I find myself saying Edwin's lines in real life when I'm dealing with real idiots...

13. LOL re Aerie
That's so true - I guess that's the problem with scripted PCs and NPCs. But when those lines are golden... but you know that already. :) As for me, I use that "Hero coming through..." bit when starting a new project. Nobody gets it, tho.... :( :D
