The RPGA.... well this is a gaming group
so perhaps the rant will make sense here.

But if you know somebody who is a member of the RPGA I can tell you this... they are exactly what comes to mind when people think Gamers.

Slovenly

Obese

Socially challenged

Oh and no manners, and that is for starters.

They had their meeting at the local game store yesterday, and yes as usual they left a mess behind. But you know what the problem is? When their attitude... WE ARE the RPGA... and we are BETTER THAN YOU and we play the ONLY REAL GAME OUT THERE... not only is scary, but damaging to the hobby.

I know the history of it. I also know the THEORY behind it, as well as the fact that it was supposed to be the Role Playing Gamers Association, not the DND players Association. Yes, they were supposed to have things like Living Seattle (Shadowrun) and Living Solaris (Mechwarrior) and Living Haven (Haven City of Violence) and so on. But local chapters have over the year only DONE DnD, the only game they recognize, the holy grail and all that. And these days the RPGA is the butt of many a bad joke.

So if any of you are readying this and know the RPGA... well the clique is now doing quite a bit of damage to the hobby.

Oh and as to the obese... it is part of what people think about gamers... yep being pudgy is part of it. It is bad when chairs start collapsing. That is when you should think there is a problem... here.

Oh and soap would be a good idea too.

Rant off

1. I love tabletop gaming.
...I just wish I didn't have to play it with tabletop gamers. :(

I freaking WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE. Nothing like being around a bunch of guys who get all nervous the moment a woman walks in...not to mention the Ron Paul fandom.

And since DnD blows a big goat these days...it's like they're the kings of nothing.

4. I am a bit chubby
and I doubt I will be able to ever get to my ideal weight... but nothing hysterical... and I still try.

But what you said yep, women are like rare for these guys... though locals have some gals...

but my issue is the lack of the use of a soap and a shower, and of course the attitude.

As to DnD... yep, sucks ass... major ass. And their sales are not quite where they used to be...

5. Did you see the 4th Ed Monster Manual???
I mean I looked at it in Borders and was appalled.

I don't need a ton of fluff but a little background never hurts. Give it some flavor.

The monsters have like 2 sentence descriptions and so many useless stats that I feel we've gone back to 1st ed. It's like playing Diablo on tabletop. Why the hell would you want to do that? You can play Diablo on the Computer a million times faster.

Not that there isn't other FAR MORE FUN stuff out there these days.

And yes, the BO + attitude. Kind of sad.
