1. There will likely be a lot of people re-rolling characters when the new expansion hits
There are going to be two new playable races coming up, so for first time players, there should be plenty of low level people to do things with. I was just thinking about re-starting my subscription myself.

2. Cataclysm will also be re-working most of the original zones.
So very little will be the same. I may have to create a new character just to see what they changed.

3. Yeah that too
On the one hand, they've learned a lot since the game started, and it will be interesting to see all those lessons applied to the world that we all started in. On the other hand it must hurt a bit to trash all that content. I'm a bit surprised that they didn't somehow use the caverns of time to repurpose the old zones somehow, or perhaps that's in the works for down the road...

4. Well, they are splitting the Barrens.
And putting rivers of lava in the middle. And the Barrens deserve to be destroyed.
Darkshore is also being upended. As are the Wetlands.

Here's a list of what's changing: (spoilers?)

5. Yeah, I imagine that all the quests in those zones will change too...
Imagine it, new Horde players never having to go looking for Mankricks wife!
